Every day is Valentine's in the right relationship

This post has been finished since Valentine's night but spotty net, my neck deciding to act up after spending too much time online on Valentine's and THEN someone broke Second Life when I finally was able to get around to trying to get links last night, so here it is Tuesday...  But, I have to say this fits my personal belief quite well, the right kind of relationship is like Valentine's Day every day!  For those of you who have been following my blog for a bit, you know I am a die hard romantic and I personally think the small things are like Valentine's every day.  Whether it is some cheesy gift from the local gas station that your special someone saw and was reminded of you; a fresh cut flower from the neighbors garden; or showing up with your favorite dessert as a surprise because you love late night snacks, these tiny gestures truly mean the world.  Every one of those moments means they are thinking about you, your likes, your wants, your needs, and isn't that what true love is really about?

Enjoying the silence of the snowfall

When the temperatures stay at a reasonable level during a snow storm one of my favorite past times is to wrap up against the frigid temps and head out for a walk.  Whether in the woods or just down my street there is something truly peaceful about the silence that sets in during a significant snow fall.  Your feet no longer make a sound on the ground below you, people have headed off the streets to the comforts of their warms homes and most of the critters too.  For a moment I indulge in the idea that there are no computers, no cellphones and that suddenly we have been launched back to a simpler time when you could find these moments of pure tranquility more often without the constant hum of electricity in the air.  A week ago today those of us here in Flagstaff started to dig out from under Mother Nature's blanket of 31 inches of snow and as I look around today most of that sparkling, white remains.  Though the edges of everything are looking grungy and dirty that mysterious beauty snow seems to bring to everything remains.  Leave it to Mother Nature to do something about the ratty edges that have moved into her landscape painting as the forecast calls for a bit of snow this weekend.  I am hoping that I once again get to enjoy a walk in the woods to enjoy the silence.

Destination Anywhere for Christmas

For the past 15 years I have lived in the mountains of Arizona, and for my health the low temps and low humidity have been beneficial to my health until NOW!  It's like the cold targets my neck and makes even the tiniest of movements hard when out and about.  I can't warm up no matter what I do and suddenly I am thinking of a destination anywhere but Arizona for Christmas, especially when we have been colder than the entire rest of the country.  I am going down to Phoenix which will be warmer than it is up here in Flagstaff, but still some of you people are having a lovely Spring this Winter and I want some!  So over to the North Pole I headed to grab a ride on the train hoping Santa can drop me off on a sandy beach warmed by the Sun, hopefully with a Cabana Boy there to meet me with a Mai Tai!

North Pole Sleigh Ride Adventure

The December round of Swank opened recently with the debut of this adorable ensemble from AnaMarkova Designs.  The Sleigh Ride outfit consists of sweater and jeans with a HUD for the sweater offering several different pattern choices, but I stuck with the traditional Christmas red and green argyle since my mood is most definitely centered around the Holidays at the moment.  I love the off the shoulder design of this sweater with body hugging curves that fit perfectly over the slim cut, straight jeans.  This is an exclusive to the event so make sure you head on over before it comes to a close.  The grand re-opening of The Dressing Room closed yesterday, which is where I picked up this hair from Elikatira, but I am sure if you check back later this week it will make it's way into the main store.  I love the soft framing of the face and loose ponytail on the Quinn hair and think everyone should have this in their wig assortment!  Last week I saw a promo ad from Ben's Beauty for these AMAZING ankle boots and immediately clicked the link to make them my own!  Most ankle boots have the terrible issue of NOT coming to the top of the ankle leaving about an inch of skin exposed, which we all know wouldn't happen in the real world when the temps dip below 30, and it makes me NUTS seeing it on SL.  So you can imagine how happy I was to see that these boots not only go up high enough, but give the impression of tights or socks being worn so there is no gap between the bottom of leggings, pants or jeans.  Trust me I have tried them on with several different pants and they have quickly become my favorite pair of boots in my closet.  Check out the marketplace link and see what other promos happen to be going on and grab these and maybe some other shoes while you are there!

The peaceful tranquility of Dawn

If you like to sleep late then you probably miss out on one of the most spectacular times of day in my opinion, especially in the Fall.  The frost hangs heavy on what remains of the leaves on the trees and as the Sun edges over the horizon steam rises as the beams instantly bring life to the still surroundings.  The snow has melted down here in town, but the mountains continue to be blanketed in white.  This morning as the Sun danced with its rainbow of colors I had a perfect moment of peace as I stood with my cup of coffee and let the rays warm me as they did my surroundings.  Do yourself a favor and get up early sometime, before the bitter chill of Winter sets in and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the Dawn.

If you haven't made it to Sad November yet you don't have much time, literally only a few hours before the doors will close and the vendors will be taken down which means you will miss out on these amazing lipsticks from Alaskametro!  The Angel set comes for your favorite mesh heads as well as Standard Layers as I am wearing here.  After today check the MP as Alaskametro is only available on the MP or at events!

Don't you remember?

With the tragedies of yesterday around the world I had a bit of a heavy heart last night as I put together this ensemble and I was surprised at how empty the grid was for a Saturday night.  Which of course worked well in my favor as I got to wander around to take pics at Templemore!  I absolutely love this sim, always have, and from time to time I get to wander around and discover new secret spots to snap a great photo.  As I said, my heart was a bit heavy with personal things and with the state of the world the last couple of days so I let the memories in for a little while.

Heading back to the Milky Way

I have always been what my Father would call mercurial; constantly at the mercy of my whims.  But for most people this conjures the idea of an irresponsible, fickle person, which is incredibly far from the truth when it comes to me.  My Father taught me to be responsible in spite of my nature and over the years I have managed to keep the two in balance; my head is always in the clouds, searching out the stars for something else out there, with my feet firmly on the ground.  My new home on SL is a perfect example of that nature with its cluttered style and eclectic composition and I have found myself sitting at my telescope staring at the stars, just as I do in my real life.  Join me as I "dance along the light of day and head on back towards the Milky Way."

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to spend some time away from the computer and out of the house down at the Page Springs Winery, and as is my nature, I pushed myself a bit.  Which means, I have been paying for it yesterday and today.  But I can say this, which is a good sign, though I am stiff and in pain, it isn't as bad as it has been.  Means the physical therapy is already doing a bit of something which has left my spirits quite high!  So my posts may be short as my fingers are having a few issues working for me, but the pictures will still be here to show off all kinds of amazing items to get your hands on before the month ends!!

"I'm the dark in need of light, when we tough you inspire"

Monday's are an unusual day for me, as they really are just like any other day.  I rarely sleep in late and I often do the same things on the weekends as I do during the week, so really the only change for me is having to deal with traffic when Monday morning rolls around.  I know that this is probably a luxury only those of us who are home all the time have to deal with, but I have to say I don't miss the hassle that perpetually goes with Monday mornings.  However, I say this at 3:28 in the afternoon and I haven't managed to get out this post!  The photo has been done for almost two days now and yet, here I sit.  So I guess you could say, today, this Monday, I am having a start of the week imaginative slump.  Which is very odd since this ensemble has put me in such a whimsical mood, yet nothing wants to jump out of my head and onto the page!  So while I deal with my Monday let's talk about AnaMarkova Designs for a moment.  The gorgeous designs have been popping up all over the grid this Summer and perfect for the "homey" feel of Fall, an amazing new collection has been released in the store featuring a stunning Autumn palette, shape draping designs and exquisite attention to detail all at affordable prices to you!  After all being chic doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Caught dancing in the waning rays of the sun

From time to time during this season I have been caught by many a person dancing in the sunbeams as they trickle through the curtains.  The chill of the evenings has set into my bones now and the sun seems to warm me from the inside out and keep that fire inside me lit for the coming Winter.  As I was flipping through my new pose set from Le Poppycock at Chapter Four to show off this gorgeous new ensemble from AnaMarkova Designs, I giggled a bit because this pose really made me think of how I must look when people catch me dancing and singing with the sunbeams in the living room.

"Lunge and thrust to pout and pucker into the face of the beguiled"

Of course I am an 80's baby, being 43 they were the height of my teens and I wasn't your typical cheerleader as I have discussed before.  I listened to what most called punk or alternative and though it didn't majorly influence my style, torn fishnets, short skirts, combat boots, chains and lots of black found their way into my daily wardrobe.  I do believe you can browse through old photo albums and find me all dressed up for a dance still with my leather and metal bracelets on.  I had to keep my edge people!  This month AnaMarkova Designs brings you all kinds of wonderful releases at Designer Showcase including this fabulous ensemble that took me straight back to my youth and Siouxsie's voice started tumbling through my head!

"Smooth Sailin"

I don't know whether it is the stress of the Summer or merely a desire to be far, far away in general but I have been dreaming of a cruise for weeks now down among the Caribbean Islands or even more distant, exotic ports.  So today as I busied myself with unpacking my enormous pile of boxes I was delighted with the newest releases you can only find at Designer Showcase from AnaMarkova Designs, as they fit my daydreaming mood perfectly!
