Taking a break from the winds of change to remind myself to breathe

For those of you who have been following my blog for a bit, you know I HATE change in any form, whether for good or bad.  I am like a dog that hates to be walked on a leash; ass end down with claws digging into the ground refusing to be moved.  Recently, however, I have had to be like a Weeping Willow blowing in the winds of change, reminding myself to breathe and allow myself to be swept away.  In case you haven't been following along, the last few months have brought about a new relationship, that I also gained another teenage boy with, a brand-new computer, and as of last night, the boyfriend and I bought a new vehicle!  Which in the grand scheme of things, as I look forward to my future, is HUGE!  Granted, it isn't brand new, and actually it's 14 years old, but we stumbled into one of those finds of a lifetime; a 2002 Yukon that has been used by an 80+ year old woman to get groceries for the last 14 years and then parked in a garage and out of the hot Arizona sun.  It was never our intention to get something that old, or in fact, another SUV, but with the incredibly low mileage, near mint condition inside and outside and the smoking good deal we were offered, we couldn't pass it up.  But after 6 hours at and around the dealership looking at all kinds of vehicles and then not being able to sleep until the wee hours of the morning because of that high you get after purchasing something like that, my body and my mind needed a break.

I realized as I sat down again in this chair today in a tucked away corner of my home I hadn't once taken time out of my day to just breathe.  That is usually the first thing out of my mouth to friends when they are stressed or going to fast, "Remember to breathe."  Now that seems like a stupid comment I know, but think about it for a moment.  When we are going nonstop, and the stress level is bordering on critical we rarely stop and concentrate on our breathing.  In fact, most of the time people's breathing gets more shallow and rapid, making your blood pressure rise which just adds to the issues, so it's important to take just a few beats of your heart and concentrate on ten long, deep breaths.  I took my own advice finally, after the work space cleared this afternoon and I feel incredibly better.  It doesn't take away the stressors, but it does remind you to slow down, even for a moment, which is sometimes all we need when the kettle is about to boil over.  I also am a big fan of retail therapy, and most often with me, that comes in the form of extravagant and nonsensical shoes, in SL and RL.  Rayne had the perfect ones for my mood this weekend and you just have to go pick yourself up a pair or two, or maybe all of them!  The shoes are exclusively available at the Stuff Style Sales Room, a monthly event brought to you by the creators of Womenstuff, Menstuff, and HomeStuff which runs until the 28th, so hurry on over before the goodies head out!

For many years now I have firmly believed that love is an ever elusive creature, hard to catch and even harder to keep.  Once upon a time I had my fairy tale wedding with lofty dreams of a beautiful forever that was crushed by the darkness of abuse.  Though I have been in a couple of relationships since, I never got married again and in some ways I don't think I ever will, in the traditional sense of the word.  I hate the fact that the government tells me I have to have a piece of paper to declare my love for someone, and that others are denied the same right.  Love is something to be celebrated, not hidden; to stand in front of your friends, family and what ever higher power you embrace is the purest and truest way to show your love.  No piece of paper can ever take the place of a true celebration of love, no matter what the government tells people.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you know about the recent attacks in Florida and other places in the country at LGBT events, which in reality have been attacks on love.  I sit in front of my computer and read the stories and events and I am horrified that in this advanced society we live in, that people are still persecuted simply for the fact they love someone of the same sex.  In my opinion, we have much bigger problems in this country to be worried about than love.  Because in the end that is what all this boils down to, the fact that love is love, no matter what form it comes in.  If you are lucky enough in this lifetime to find love, as long as it isn't with children or animals ( I do draw SOME lines people!), then celebrate it and enjoy the precious gift you have been given.  The Pulse Charity Event runs through the 12th of the month and all proceeds go to Equality Florida to support the victims and families of the Orlando shooting.  Hurry on over to the event today, you won't be disappointed and you will get a chance to feel good about spending a few Linden as well!

Always Deer - A Tribute to the late Alan Rickman

I remember standing in line at Barnes and Noble in 1998 to pick up the first two Harry Potter books with a big pregnant belly.  I remember the first being a constant companion during a mostly bed-ridden pregnancy and I remember distinctly the feeling of falling in love with the characters.  When my son was born, I read to him nightly from the books and through the years they became a staple of our lives.  When my son's Father was killed, I know I buried myself in books and movies to escape my pain, and I know the movies were in constant rotation in the VCR.  My son identified with Harry, and the loss of his parents quite significantly and I believe there were times when the movies helped ease his grief as well.  As the years have gone by we both tend to do our movie marathons of the Harry Potter collection, curled up on my bed.  Waking yesterday to the news of Alan Rickman's passing, was a shock to both our systems and as I looked in his eyes I could see part of his childhood slip away, and that mature young man suddenly seemed like a little boy again.  Though he had many other roles in his career, the one of Professor Snape, had a profound influence on my son and I's lives.  Rest in peace Professor Snape, the world is still lit by the wands being raised in your honor.

The wonderful creative team at unKindness are also true Harry Potter fans and also were truly saddened to hear of Alan Rickman's passing; and in loving tribute this wonderful  "Always Deer" sign was created and is available for everyone to pick up at the main store.  The biggest lesson I learned from the series is that love never dies.  We carry a piece of our loved ones with us even when they have left this world, and that even in the darkest of hours, that love can save us, Always.

This is going to be a Christmas fit for a Princess, and it's about time I had one

I have always wanted my very own fairy tale mirror with lights, and preferably a Fairy God Mother, but we know that isn't going to happen, but as luck will have it, I now have my very own Princess Mirror!  I might have gotten a bit excited when I saw this mirror was going to be at The Fantasy Collective and I actually made myself wait to get it until yesterday, if you can believe it, but I was waiting for the crowds to die down and to really have time to look around.  That event makes me crazy though because I have a tendency to get lost in all those winding paths and crisscrossing pathways, but when I am on a mission it doesn't matter, that mirror was going to be mine!  I happened up on a few other things while I was there, which was a happy surprise as well, so check out the website for the event to grab the shopping guide and get your hands on some wonderfully whimsical items!

I was actually putting all of this together for another post when I finally connected with the wonderful Luana Barzane and got all my blogger stuff and two gorgeous new gowns for Amarelo Manga!  The Nilfa Long Gown has a fantastic Teal to Gold fade from the bottom to the top that is flawless and the dress fits magnificently well without breaking or stretching as I posed and moved around.  Looking for a curve hugging, cleavage baring dress for the Holiday season then make sure to head on by the store today!  

I often think that nail designers don't get a lot of credit for the hard work that they do, so I am trying to make sure I include them in my posts with a close up to spotlight the incredible designs made on such a tiny platform!  This release can only be found at the SL 2015 Christmas Expo right with all or part of the proceeds going to benefit Relay for Life, so you get fabulous nails AND get to donate to a wonderful cause!  What could be better?!

Come on, let's go dancing!!!

Happy Thursday everyone!  I hope you are all having a great week and are fully ready for Friday to be here.  I woke today with a head start on the weekend since my son is off for Fall Break until Tuesday and I am gearing up for a little four day vacation.  My energy is pretty high after physical therapy today, though I know I will be in bed early since these days wear me out, and with the changes going on with me I am one very happy woman today.  For the first time in over a decade I feel like LIVING again and not just watching life pass me by, in other words, I am ready to go dancing!  Who is with me?!!!  Come dancing with me and put on your boogie shoes!!

Caught bewitched, bothered and bewildered

Woke this morning to a chill in the air that truly felt a lot more like Winter than Fall, but up here in the mountains of Arizona, that happens this time of year.  The days reach into the 70's with the suns rays beating down at this high altitude to the low 40's or high 30's as the heat escapes during our clear nights.  Wake up in a sweater and by lunch you are peeling out of your layers to bask in the sun, and I wonder why I get sick in September and October of every year.  The cooler weather however is easier on my body and so I woke with a bit of energy today which meant it was time to get some work done!  Lone Wolf Studios has two new releases in the mainstore and there are also two other brand new gorgeous sets perfect for all your RP needs that will be featured in two hunts next month, so make sure you stay tuned!  I started this post specifically to do the eyes, but when I put them on, I was struck by the stunning blue and very mystical feel of the Electris eyes and decided to match them up with this adorable new ensemble from Flippant.

Reflecting now on how things could've been

As those who follow me know, I have been a tad bit of the melancholy baby as of late but that tends to be the case during this time of year.  Even though this is my favorite season it also happens to be marked by a history of great loss.  I often find myself reflecting and looking back and sometimes wishing I could turn back the clock.  Perspective comes with time and though I still find it hard to not find myself lost in memories I know I wouldn't be who I am today without having gone through the struggles I have in my life.  I am still a romantic at heart even though some would have grown cold and that is my favorite part of reflecting, falling back in love with love.  It is a feeling like no other, and trust me, there truly isn't enough chocolate in the world to actually replace that emotion.  So tonight I put on this gorgeous new release from Heydra and wandered down into my garden with memories on my mind.

Heydra truly outdid herself with the Krista dress which is only available at Audace Sirens Autumn Forest in several colors for only 125L for the duration of the event BUT the event ends on the 15th so HURRY you don't have much time left to get your hands on this stunning release at a fabulous price!  

I finally got the chance to head over to Collabor88 today and I just HAD to have this hair from Tableau Vivant and not just because it happens to be named Jade.  I love the messy yet sophisticated look of this hair and it happens to make me feel a bit feisty, which for those who know me, can often lead to trouble!  But tonight I am in far too reflective of a mood to go out and stir the cauldron, so to speak.  The Muted Coven inspiration behind this round at Collab might have just made me close to broke, but it is well worth it as you will be amazed at all the offerings, so head on over before it's too late and you regret it!

Caught dancing in the waning rays of the sun

From time to time during this season I have been caught by many a person dancing in the sunbeams as they trickle through the curtains.  The chill of the evenings has set into my bones now and the sun seems to warm me from the inside out and keep that fire inside me lit for the coming Winter.  As I was flipping through my new pose set from Le Poppycock at Chapter Four to show off this gorgeous new ensemble from AnaMarkova Designs, I giggled a bit because this pose really made me think of how I must look when people catch me dancing and singing with the sunbeams in the living room.

The stunning, new, Ava ensemble is only available at Designer Showcase in Camel and Pure and includes the top, skirt and shoes.  Meaning you don't have to end up chest high in discarded shoes trying to find the perfect match!  Which is always a HUGE plus in my book as sometimes I find myself drowning as I try to find the best shoes for an outfit.  On a daily basis I can be found in the Phases collection from Cae that I picked up over the Summer for all kinds of reasons.  First, well, they are the moon in its different phases AND you can change the metal texture AND wear them individually or all together; making them incredibly versatile.  But of course my love for them is deeply seeded in my relationship with the moon.  Since I picked them up at separate events you will need to check the store to grab yours!

I think my head just broke the desk

You know when you are going along just fine, life is good and the ONE has finally slipped from your every waking thought until something stupid suddenly brings the one who broke your heart crashing into your memory?  The last couple of days fall into that category.  Here I am thrilled with my new home and finally feeling like I am settled on SL after a year and a half and BOOM; all I can think about is the person I wish I was sharing it with.  Which in all reality, is just a stupid thought, but yet there it is.  Wandering the rooms thinking how much he would love it and how much I wish he could see it.  But that ship sailed years ago now, and even our friendship finds it hard to stay as real life pulls him further and further from our online life.  I actually contemplated banging my head on the desk, but with as hard headed as I am, I really do think I might have broken it, the desk that is.  So of course I headed upstairs to my platform to get away from the memories for a bit and happened upon this gorgeous new bodysuit from *LX*.

Today I sit and wonder if you ever look to the sky and think of your Bella Luna or if I have faded from your memory.  Always chasing my sun through the sky, rarely to catch a glimpse hoping one day to once again dance in his shadow.

I have a feeling that being a vagabond without a permanent home is a problem that many of us have faced over the years in Second Life, and for over a year and a half now that has been me.  Yes, I know that epitomizes the boho lifestyle, but it really wasn't my intention.  I am quite fond of my semi hermit-like lifestyle and having a home and a place to nest is incredibly important to me.  Hitching a ride for a place to change clothes and take pics suited my needs for blogging and I enjoyed being around my friends but at some point I knew I was going to have to put down roots and establish a homebase.  This was the week and I am now a proud owner of land on SL and my dreams are coming true.  I spent hours just sitting in my new treasures from The Arcade with a soft smile, feeling like I was finally home.  The boxes aren't quite all unpacked yet, and I know everything will probably move around a thousand times before I am truly happy but at the moment I am more than content.  As the sun started to set on the sim I noticed a few twinkling lights in the distance and realized someone had fireflies flitting about on their property across the lake and the feeling of "home" was intensified as I was suddenly transported back to the Summer nights of my youth.  And of course, with nostalgia came the words and notes to a song that refused to stop playing in my head as I tele'd upstairs to my platform to unpack some goodies.  Apparently, luck was on my side as the first box I opened fit my mood and the song dancing through my head perfectly!

Send in the Clowns

If you love the carnival music; the crunch of peanut shells under your feet; the smell of cotton candy and hot buttered popcorn; and the distinct, yet distant aroma of wild animals and hay; then Cirque de Seraphim is one event you MUST check out!  The event covers two sims with TONS of designers all offering goodies catering to the circus theme.  Now as most people know, I am terrified of clowns, but that is really exclusive to the creepy wig, red nose wearing weirdos you can often find making balloon animals at children's birthday parties.  Luckily for me, those are not the clowns at Cirque de Seraphim!  My love of the "sad" clown teamed up with my desire to always be a Ring Leader for my post today!

I went to the event with the idea of picking up an outfit and ended up getting a lot more than just ONE!  Of course a Circus themed event would feature jackets like this one from BOOM, but needless to say, the detailing on this made it the winner.  The fit on this jacket is fantastic and didn't break in all my moving and posing, which is always a plus!  I knew when I saw the jacket that I had just picked up a skirt that would match PERFECTLY from Chapter Four.  I love this skirt, it fits perfectly with very little alpha "peeking."  And what Ring Leader ensemble would be complete without a Top Hat and Crop, which RACK Poses provides in the "Puttin' On a Show" pose set.  The crop lines up perfectly in the poses and I didn't have to move the hat to make it look perfect!  Matched up with the Rope Heels from Clamberry and the look was complete!  So send in the clowns!

Little Bit of Devil.....

So since I was up late last night, I was out wandering around and suddenly noticed a sign I hadn't seen before, or well, maybe I just didn't pay any attention.  But anyway, here is this sign that says "Lazy Sunday", so I joined the group and went on a little journey around the grid to some of my favorite stores, and to some places I had never heard of.  Suddenly, I was grabbing items for 79L or under and finding some wonderful things!  The Plastik, whose nail appliers I happen to wear quite often has a whole collection of outfits for the Lazy Sunday sale, called Clara.  I was blown away with the number of dresses and mix and match pieces in this collection, so hurry over and grab yours tonight!  But, the greatest find, at least for me, is this FANTASTIC skin from Flounce.  "Lilly Peachy" comes with Slink appliers for hands, feet and the Physique.  The makeup is quite lovely and the skin is smooth and very well detailed all for 75L or under.  Trust me, it is worth taking up a group space and scrambling to get these pieces this week, before the clock strikes midnight!

Sweet Serenity

The Chapter Four opened just a few days ago at a new location (yay) and I just had to wander over during a recent shopping therapy date.  The new location was a lot less laggy for me than the old sim, and I was quite pleased to be able to maneuver quickly and easily through the 3 areas.  Les Petits Details is not usually a designer I go to for my everyday look, but this adorable outfit blew me away!  The eyelet lace on the "Nicole" top and skirt is perfectly done, as are the shadows and textures.  The slight poof to the skirt makes it lie well whether walking or standing, but of course there are a few issues when sitting, but not many.  I only had to adjust my body fat by a couple of numbers to have this perfectly on my shape, which as you all know by now, is a HUGE thing for me.  The standard sizes have a scale they fit in, and I know where my shape lies and I know that I shouldn't have to make many adjustments if the creator is working off the SL Standard Size guidelines.  Always something to keep in mind when out shopping on the grid!

FaMeshed has also been open for a few days now, and Tableau Vivant has a fantastic hair at the event you should go pick up!  I will be honest, I haven't been a fan of Tableau really, up until now.  The Andree Solstice hair comes in two sizes; one for the implant crowd and another for those who don't care for the mesh breasts.  Now, I have had a question posed to me about hair bases and here is the truth.  I wear a hair base, usually from Wasabi Pills because of the variety of colors, with EVERY hair I wear.  I think it gives a much more natural look and honestly I feel a bit naked without one.
I wandered over to Slink West to check out the My Slink Obsession event (post coming soon) and ended up wandering the sim for HOURS in a Slink induced haze!  Everything you need for your Slink parts is available!  I happened upon these wonderful shoes from SYSY on my adventure.  I love the style on these wonderfully dainty shoes.  A lot of the Slink shoes coming out lately have a chunky heel and I am not a fan.  I love the sexy look of a stiletto and how it enhances the curve of a ladies leg.  These shoes are perfectly feminine and I have grabbed a couple pairs to keep around.  And if you hadn't heard, IKON just released a new line of eyes, Immortal/Mortal.  Each set of eyes comes with both styles and in system and mesh eyes.  As usual, the textures and colors are wonderful and I have fallen in love with these very haunted looking eyes.  I think accessories can overload an outfit at times, and because I wanted to focus on the beauty of this I tried to not distract everyone with a lot of bling.  Just simple bracelets from **Feel**, though they are a gift from a former event.  Check out the little boutique and see what you can find!

Lost in the Books

Our world moves so quickly these days, and so many of us have taken our reading to the technological level and don't even sit down to read anymore.  But the feel of a book in your hands, the smell of the paper, the worn cover; those are all part of what reading is all about.  Don't forget to take the time and sit alone, in your quiet space and read your favorite book from when you were a child, or simply one that a friend mentioned somewhere along the way.  Be good to yourself and step away from the technology, the hustle and bustle and simply go back to a time when everything wasn't, "automatic".

I did mention recently that my bedroom is a mess of boxes, bags and tissue paper, and tucked in those bags from Chapter Four is this adorable outfit from Les Petits Details, called Abigail May.  This adorable skirt and jacket/shirt combo feels perfect for these Spring days and made me a bit nostalgic for my college days.  Hitting the books during finals months seemed the perfect setting to show off this cute outfit!
