Today marks the second last day of .PENUMBRA.'s AW16 Fashion Week and it happens to be the fifth and final article on Style Personalities.  Before discussing the last personality, I wanted to do a small re-cap as a reference guide, so all the information ends up in one place.

Five Style Personalities


Natural
- loves comfort and function over fashion

Though not comfortable in lace and lots of frills, due to my Classic side, I am very familiar with the Romantic Style Personality, as it is what makes up the majority of my closet.

The Romantic woman loves being a woman, meaning she is very aware of her sexual power and loves to flaunt her femininity without being over the top or slutty.  Most Romantics have an hourglass figure and absolutely love their curves and wearing materials that hug and drape the body.  This woman is most comfortable in exquisitely soft materials like silk, chiffon and jersey, that feel good against the skin and fit the female form like a glove.  Her wardrobe is mostly made up of dresses skirts and tops with very few pairs of pants and very rarely a pair of jeans.  Pants are often an evil necessity for the Romantic, but you can always bet they have some sort of extra detailing on them to soften them up a bit.  Her mannerisms, her hair, everything about her will radiate womanhood and people are often drawn to that, not just the curves!  

I wandered outside my assigned group today because I had to show off this stunning gown from POSH Pixels, but also because it happened to fit quite nicely with the Romantic theme of the day.  The Blind Love gown comes complete with mask, jewelry and gown, in a lovely soft pink and mauve combination that is sure to knock your socks off!  I had to be a bit careful with posing for this photo because in true Romantic fashion you can see a hint of a nipple behind the gorgeous floral top piece, which mean you are sure to captivate that special someone at your next formal event!  From top to bottom this ensemble is exquisitely crafted and highly detailed, making it an incredibly valuable pieced to add to your closet before the event ends and it disappears into the ether that is Second Life!  Trust me, you will fall in love!

"Living in a world gone plastic, baby you're so Classic!" MKTO - Style Personalities Part IV

I have had a wonderful time writing about Style Personalities this week and I hope you have enjoyed reading them as well.  So far we have delved into three out of the five leaving Classic and Romantic left to discuss.  With .PENUMBRA.'s AW16 Fashion Week coming to a close this Sunday I wanted to make sure I gave you another reason to head on over to the event, because trust me you don't want to miss out on all the current exclusive designs from your favorite creators!  When I opened this gorgeous new gown from Petit Chat I was immediately struck by the truly classic lines and put together this ensemble for the day I sat down to talk about the Classic Style Personality.

The Classic woman values quality and good taste above all else, which is reflected in every single aspect of her life.  She is always impeccably dressed in timeless designs that flatter her figure, accompanied by delicate accessories that she mixes and matches effortlessly between ensembles.  When picturing the perfect example of the Classic woman, I always see Audrey Hepburn in my mind with her flawless bun, tiny pearl accessories, little black dress with wide heeled pumps and square handbag.  I remember being mesmerized as I watched her on screen during the Saturday matinees on television and hoping to one day grow up and be able to carry off the fashions and looks she did throughout her life, on and off the screen.

The Ella Gown comes in a variety of colors with the top and bow accessories in a complimentary color.  The fit is amazing and didn't break or stretch when I posed or walked, which is always a plus in my book.  The textures are wonderfully hand painted and as always, the detailing is excellent, which are things you can come to expect from Petit Chat.  The gown is a great example of Classic lines and design, very reminiscent of the curve hugging fashions of the 1950's, a time where fashion truly celebrated women.  Accentuated by the gorgeous Delicacy collection from Atomic Faery, also an exclusive for .PENUMBRA.'s Fashion Week.  The earrings and necklace have an amazing HUD with four metal colors to choose from an oodles of magnificent combinations for the jewels, I promise you will not be disappointed when you add this to your jewelry box!  So hurry over to the event, and make sure to check my post about the schedule to see all the events happening this weekend!  

With only one final Style Personality to discuss, I will let everyone know I am a Classic Romantic, even though sometimes I like to try and throw in a few Dramatic accessories.  For me, that is the true purpose of this series of articles, helping you to identify your own clothing personality and how to fit the latest fad or trend into your own wardrobe, whether in real life, or Second Life.  As you read these articles start to think about your "go-to" ensembles that always make you feel great and see what Style Personality the fall into and begin to shop with a bit more knowledge than you had before.

For many years now I have firmly believed that love is an ever elusive creature, hard to catch and even harder to keep.  Once upon a time I had my fairy tale wedding with lofty dreams of a beautiful forever that was crushed by the darkness of abuse.  Though I have been in a couple of relationships since, I never got married again and in some ways I don't think I ever will, in the traditional sense of the word.  I hate the fact that the government tells me I have to have a piece of paper to declare my love for someone, and that others are denied the same right.  Love is something to be celebrated, not hidden; to stand in front of your friends, family and what ever higher power you embrace is the purest and truest way to show your love.  No piece of paper can ever take the place of a true celebration of love, no matter what the government tells people.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you know about the recent attacks in Florida and other places in the country at LGBT events, which in reality have been attacks on love.  I sit in front of my computer and read the stories and events and I am horrified that in this advanced society we live in, that people are still persecuted simply for the fact they love someone of the same sex.  In my opinion, we have much bigger problems in this country to be worried about than love.  Because in the end that is what all this boils down to, the fact that love is love, no matter what form it comes in.  If you are lucky enough in this lifetime to find love, as long as it isn't with children or animals ( I do draw SOME lines people!), then celebrate it and enjoy the precious gift you have been given.  The Pulse Charity Event runs through the 12th of the month and all proceeds go to Equality Florida to support the victims and families of the Orlando shooting.  Hurry on over to the event today, you won't be disappointed and you will get a chance to feel good about spending a few Linden as well!

Finding your bliss

My brain is so scattered lately that I don't know whether I am coming or going, to be honest.  I am in the middle of a move, trying to get organized for blogging again, working SL classes into my schedule, keeping the two teenage boys occupied, and trying to help the boyfriend with things since he works so hard during the days.  I am not used to running around so much and I am having a hard time getting it all done when I am supposed to.  Now I know other people lead these crazy ass lives, but for over a decade now with my illnesses I had kind of stopped going nonstop as it can bring on flare ups of my autoimmune diseases.  Since neck surgery and my new relationship however, I seem to go go go all the time!  The circles under my eyes are dark and every morning I wake in pain, but I am happy.  It's amazing to me how different life looks when you are truly in a state of bliss.  For the first time in a very long time I feel fulfilled in every area of my life, even though I don't have all I want, I do however have all I need.  A loving partner, an amazing family, friends with beautiful souls, a roof over my head and a fledgling career I am excited about; what else could a girl ask for?!  Well, in most cases, probably more jewelry, clothes, shoes and kitchen goodies, but that is a whole other story!  I encourage everyone I know to find their blissful combination.  Which means, find the things that when combined together make you happy.  I didn't realize that the only thing I had been truly missing was a partner to share my life with; dreams, heartbreaks and successes; in that I found joy.  I am not saying that without a partner I was incomplete, I am simply saying that being able to share my life with someone brings ME happiness, who knows, for you it could mean ending a partnership to head out on your own for a bit in search of your bliss.  No matter who you are though, strive to find your peace as part of your plan for life, make it a goal, or if that isn't your style simply remind yourself every day to find your bliss, I promise it will be worth it, and your soul will thank you!

Perfect Cameo Capture

I simply love it when a plan comes together, and if you check the previous blog post you will see that today I happened to be creating a post for eyes when I unpacked this gown from NoName and suddenly a post about eyes became an entire ensemble with the eyes fitting perfectly with the dress for what has become a very vintage, cameo-esque look.  You have to know how happy I was when the lighting came together as well making the cameo reference even more prominent, completing this rather vintage look, which I have to admit I have enjoyed twirling around in this evening.

Sensual beauty in black and white

I love color, as I think you can tell by looking at my blog, but sometimes a photo catches my eye as I take it and I wonder what it would look like in black and white.  It is a very rare occasion that I end up posting one of these photos as they just don't seem to capture what I am looking for.  As I put together this ensemble the other night I was reminded of an old photo I saw of Mae West back in her prime in a very similar ensemble, and I KNEW this post had to be in black and white.  This gorgeous kimono can be picked up at the current round of Collabor88 and comes in several color combinations, with the red and black featured here, as it looks the best in black and white.  The jewelry and hair are also current exclusives to the event so if you haven't had a chance to stop by you really should, this round is quite fun and provocative, one of my favorite combinations, after all it is very close to beautiful but deadly!

A beautiful woman is something many take for granted as being vapid and easily manipulated, which makes her in all reality, incredibly dangerous.  But a beautiful and intelligent woman is probably the most dangerous creature on earth, male or female, you won't ever see her coming.  She ends up with the house, the money, and the car right before she disappears into thin air, leaving you aching and wondering how you could be so dumb.  But don't worry, you won't be the first or the last of her victims so at least you might find someone to drown your sorrows with because this is the kind of woman who will never get caught!

The tree and I are decked out in shiny baubles for the Holidays!

I have gotten a bunch of trees this year to blog and though I have truly loved several of them, something was still missing for my personal home.  I spotted a post on flickr this morning and I checked out the blog and knew exactly where I was heading as soon as my son wanted to do something other than lay around and watch movies on a snow day.  When that happens, the computer is held hostage, but I will never complain about spending time with my teenager.  The Mix is a rather new event on the grid that is run via a HUD, so you aren't heading out to an event you actually get a chance to check out the mainstores of featured creators.  I went to the website and found out all the info, grabbed my free HUD from the Marketplace, logged on and checked it out, even though I only had one destination in mind today, [CIRCA].  For the event, they have two Christmas trees to choose from, Blue and Silver, and Red and Gold, for those of you who have seen my home, you would have expected me to grab the Blue and Silver, but tradition holds strong with Christmas for me, so the Red and Gold was MINE, as well as the packages to fill the space beneath.  Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed AND there is plenty of room for you to add extra ornaments, which I plan on doing tonight.  As I was decorating, a new package came in from Amarelo Manga and I was delighted to see a dress that went perfectly with my new decor.  The tree and I are both decked out in shiny baubles for the holidays!

The Beached Bunny Hunt 5 has begun!

I know on my last post I promised a follow up piece about dressing styles, and that will happen later today, I was held hostage by a back issue over the weekend and my best friend's birthday.  But, I am back! At 43, the idea of romance and love is something that I actually don't spend much time thinking about anymore.  Now to some people this may come as a surprise, but in the last couple of years it has become clear that dating etc. will happen after my son graduates from high school.  And in all reality, I am quite alright with that.  After all, he will be 18 and I will be 45 which puts me in the prime of my life, as far as I am concerned.  However, life has a way of throwing us curve balls and there has been one person for over a year now who continues to pique my interest.  Now that it looks like he might be a little more serious than expected, my thoughts have turned to what I want when it comes to love in my life.  I refuse to settle again for anything that doesn't make my toes curl and my heart skip a few beats.  I want fun, and most of all I want crazy; at least my kind of crazy.

And it's funny, a lot of the single women I know feel the same way, especially when you hit that magical age of 40.  It's that time of life when there is no settling and you are comfortable in your own skin, at least that's what I have discovered along the way.  For those of you reading this who haven't found that comfort zone in your own skin then dig down deep and find the love you lost for yourself.  You are the most important person in your life and you have to love yourself before you can find that crazy love you are looking for.  I thought that thought was always a bit of b.s. until I spent a few years alone finding out who I really was, which in turn showed me the path to what I wanted.  Now to find out if this certain someone is on the same page as I am and is looking for a little bit of crazy in his life!

If you have been following my blog for awhile, or if you happen to follow me on Google+ then the nickname "Melancholy Baby" is one you are familiar with, at least it should ring a bell for you!  For years, that has been my nickname.  I feel everything intensely, including other people's emotions and states of mind.  And for some, when they get blue or sad, or perhaps melancholy, they constantly are searching for a way out of the funk, and never truly embrace the fact that these are needed emotions, not ones to be tucked under the rug and hidden away.  When the melancholia surrounds me, almost like a heavy wool blanket, I do not feel afraid; and I don't cry.  I simply let it caress me for as long as it needs to before it moves on again.  Listening to old jazz and blues, lost love songs and thinking about things is what gets me through.  I love being the melancholy baby, to be honest.  I am always "on", and people expect me to be happy and bubbly and always ready to make people laugh so the fact my body gives me natural down time is AWESOME!  The past couple of days I have been languishing in my melancholia and enjoying listening to songs I haven't heard in a bit and getting to work out my vocal chords.  So many years spent on the stage have made me relish the down times and my isolation.  I know this can make me a bit harder to get to know, and that my reactions to people may be a bit too emotional as far as they are concerned, but this is just who I am, and at 43 I am content with the lady who looks back at me in the mirror every day.  The critics and the haters will always have something to say, but remember this is your life, not theirs and the only thing that should matter is that you get through it with over 80% spent smiling! 

Quite a few years ago now there was a song released that really made me stop and think about like, and being a Mom etc. and it offered one of the best pieces of advice I have ever heard....."I hope you dance!"  Let those words tumble around in your brain and enjoy every moment of today!
