Hello Darling, welcome to my Dungeon

In the darkest hours of the nights every so often a young, virile male disappears almost into thin air.  The only thing left behind is usually a report of the sound of wings on the air.  But what could steal these men into the night?  You can call her a Succubus if it suits you; or perhaps you have another name for the sensual demon who steals the souls of young men, but she prefers Maleficient.  You have read stories and seen movies that have twisted her story but if you peek behind the darkest doors you will find the secret no man wanted to share.  All men have a weakness and Maleficent will find it, no matter how hard they try to avoid her snare.  Her newest victim sit waiting as she calls upon the malevolent spirits she believes to be her Gods.  She hasn't decided what she would like tonight.  An evening of hedonistic desire followed by his slow and painful death or if she simply wants to end his life and move on to the next hunt.  With a flick of her wings she awakens her prey, tilting her head to the side with a wicked grin she whispers into his ear, "Hello Darling, welcome to my Dungeon."

"Tight rope walker feeling dizzy"

As many of you know I used to do my fair share of roleplaying but since I came over to Second Life I chose to not RP anymore, however, there are days when I want to toss on a costume and not be me for just a little while.  Heydra's newest release immediately put me in a bit of an edgier mood and suddenly the new wave, punk girl in me came streaking out of her hiding place!  In those teen years of finding who I was and what my style was, I might have dabbled in the punk look, including an 11 inch black mohawk so this ensemble today truly took me back to days of experimentation and dancing on the razors edge.  I will leave it up to your imaginations to figure out what that means, just know I had a blast running around the grid to some seedier locations last night and I might just be back again soon!

Needless to say, since music is often my gateway to inspiration, I hit youtube and started surfing through old favorite bands and stumbled across one I hadn't thought about in years.  Every day after cheerleading practice (with my mohawk in a ponytail) I would jump into my car to drive home and the radio would automatically go to the local "alternative" station where my friend Scott worked as a DJ.  At exactly 4:55pm a dedication came across the waves that simply said, "Hey Crash, keep it under light speed!  This goes out to you!"  And by the time I hit the back roads of St. Louis County I was flying to "Crash" by the Primitives.  Of course nostalgia set in a bit deeper and an old tune by the same band started tiptoeing its way through my grey matter and seemed a perfect song to accompany this post!  (So yeah, hit play down there!  Follow me back to the 80's)

I know I have been a bit quiet the last couple of posts but I have been feeling much like a tight rope walker on a razors edge with my life and which way to go.  Transitioning from IMVU a year and a half ago to SL wasn't hard but, the learning curve when it comes to creating is HUGE!  So while I watched tutorials, talked to friends and listened I began to blog.  I have found my voice in that time and no longer feel like your run of the mill fashion blogger, which is exactly what I had hoped for when this all began.  In the back of my mind a dream formed that included me creating on Second Life and taking my hobby to a whole new level and making it a career.  It seemed a far off dream, but now, I stand on that tight rope, dizzy with happiness as I watch that dream become a physical reality.  For that reason you will all notice that I have cut my sponsor list down quite a bit to free up more time for me to create so that in the next few months I will be introducing you to a new creator and it will be ME!  I am incredibly grateful to all of my Sponsors and appreciate the opportunities each and everyone has provided me along the way.  The vast amount of knowledge I have gained from them is something I can never repay, but I hope by me moving forward they know I couldn't have done it without them.  The days as a lost "punk/alternative" kid and all of the lives I have lead that brought me to Second Life were all spent following a dream, with my head in the clouds.  It isn't always a bad place to be, because after all, dreams often do come true!

A Tempting Classic

I am starting to notice as I get older, my choices for gowns tend towards the classic style versus the avante garde of my youth.  I think that is more a sign of maturity for me than a change in my over all style, as the choices still are bold in comparison to others.  The Apply Me event has been up and running for a couple of days now and I just need to gush for a moment.  This is the first round of this event from Solaris and so far the results have been outstanding.  I am literally buried in boxes and the offerings are truly fantastic.  No matter what mesh body you use, or mesh add-ons you are sure to find exactly what you have been needing at Apply Me, including this stunning new gown from Cherished Creations.

The "Temptation" gown is a combination of mesh and prim pieces combined to make this magnificent dress that you can only pick up at Apply Me.  The delicate rose detailing along the straps continues down the back giving a very alluring profile for all those who happen to have their eyes turned your way.  The dress is wonderfully designed and textured making it a hit in my book and you can be assured this dress will find its way to an event or two this Summer.  HSe's Walk the Night With Me, a Gothic Wedding Event is also in full swing on the grid, but will be closing soon which means you don't have a lot of time left to go and pick up this amazing new jewelry set from Glint.  The Sacred Heart collection comes in a wide variety of colors to choose from, but I loved the "Raven" with this ensemble and thought it was a perfect match.

If you are looking for a glamorous skin to add to your collection then make sure to check out this gorgeous new skin from Poudre.  The Kamilla collection comes in several makeup color selections in the same tones you have come to love and they are available in all current appliers, which means you will find exactly what you need at the store!  I am going to head out for the evening and enjoy a little dancing in this gown, so have a wonderful night of shopping and I will see you all in the morning!

Sensual Afternoon in the Sun

As most of my followers know, I try and keep my blog as PG-13 as humanly possible so I don't have to fight with the censor freaks.  However, there are times that I have to dance along that jagged edge more than others so I can show you all some wonderfully sexy designs that are also out on the grid.  Today is one such day and I am prepared for a censor war, but this bikini from Tchelo's is worth it!  The Sexy Crochet bikini comes in a wide variety of colors and is exclusively available at Fashiontropic this month.  The bikini comes with all your favorite appliers and also has a tinting layer so you end up with an infinite amount of colors, depending on how creative you feel!  Which makes it a must have for this Summer season, and if you had been looking for a new skin with the perfect tan to go along with your skin baring ensembles then head on over to Apply Me and pick up this magnificent new skin from JUMO.

A little exposed on the beach
JUMO has blown me away with this new skin release, and I absolutely LOVE how it looks on my new Maitreya body.  The skin comes in a wide variety of colors and has appliers for most mesh bodies as well as appliers for some mesh heads, so make sure to grab the demo and check it all out for yourself, I promise you won't be disappointed!  Whether you have someone to look sexy for or not, this beach or pool ensemble will make eyes turn your way this Summer so be ready for the attention!

Like, Oh My God! She's a Valley Girl

Due to some technical difficulties around here the past week, mainly me back, my series on dressing styles is going to have to wait for a bit since I can't sit for long periods of time right now.  In the meantime, I will be bringing you all kinds of cute goodies for this Summer from various creators and events, so keep an eye out!  Guess what?!  A brand new event from Solaris opens on the 10th, called Apply Me, which of course, is exactly what you think it is!  An event designed with the mesh body in mind!  Here is your first tease!  Enjoy and hope to see you on the 10th!

Total Valley Girl
I have to share a secret today with everyone....the movie "Valley Girl" is a secret obsession and I have loved that movie since the first day it came out.  I was really a little young to have been sneaking into the theater after my sister and her friend thought I had gone into some Disney flick, but I did it anyway.  The stupidly catchy tune from Frank Zappa to the goofy language to the daring, spunky, eclectic way of dressing had me hooked!  So you can imagine my delight and surprise to see this adorable, and aptly named "Valley Girl" ensemble from Pink Pearl Designs, an exclusive release for Apply Me!  From head to toe this entire ensemble is perfect!  The sunglasses sit well on top of your head and I didn't have a hard time finding a hair that looked good, which is always a plus in my book.  The phone and earbuds fit well and I didn't do any adjusting, which was fantastic since the earbuds sat perfectly!  The jacket and skirt are both mesh and the top comes in standard layers as well as with some of the most current appliers.  If you are looking for a bit of a retro look, or if the Summer has brought up some 80's nostalgia then make sure to head on by the store and let your inner Valley Girl come out to play!

Valley Girl Tease
Check out the new nail release from DaneMarkZ adorning my pretty little fingers!  I love the "Tropicana Slant" collection as the colors are perfect for Summer and come in both silver and gold selections making them very versatile.  I also had to get a close up of that popsicle and the cute sunglasses, so you knew that Valley Girls aren't as innocent as they look!  I absolutely adore this look, and it brings out the brat in me, which means it quite possibly may get a lot of wear!  Again, the retro, eclectic look fits in perfectly with my bohemian style, so remember that sometimes it is all in how you put an ensemble together that defines it's style, not just the pieces themselves.

The Beached Bunny Hunt 5 has begun!

I hope everyone had a fantastic and safe weekend and that you are done recuperating and are ready to head into a week full of shopping!  I know work has to be mixed in there, but at the moment all I can think about is The Beached Bunny Hunt that started on the 3rd with 67 stops and all kinds of goodies for you to get your hands on, including this adorable new dress from Heydra!

Bummin' Around at Calypso
I know on my last post I promised a follow up piece about dressing styles, and that will happen later today, I was held hostage by a back issue over the weekend and my best friend's birthday.  But, I am back! And I have lots to share with you!  Heydra is a sponsor of TBBH5 and has hidden this little gem somewhere in the store, and while there make sure to check out ALL the different colors the "Fiona" dress comes in, as it is a brand new release!  I love the flirty and casual feel of this dress and I am always a fan of the hibiscus flower as it transports me immediately back to nights spent on the beaches of Maui.  Whether you want to dress it down for a casual stroll or maybe you want to dress it up a bit and toss on a set of jewels from Glint, like this collection currently available for ONLY 55L through the 8th, so HURRY!  As usual, the Slink body does make the tank mesh break in the back, but this is a common issue with the physique and has nothing to do with the mesh.  It is amazing what a good camera angle and a great hair can do when the inevitable glitches arise in our mesh bods!

A truly classic look will never go out of style

Years ago, almost seems like another life, I owned my own image consulting business where I educated men and women about the different dressing styles, what colors worked on them and how to put it all together and still never feel like you were wearing a costume.  Dressing people, and understanding personal style is always something that has come easily to me, call it a universally given talent, if you will.  To be able to help people get back in the work force who had been away for awhile, or simply assisting the ladder climber in presenting a more professional image gave me great satisfaction.  To see individuals blossom in front of you, comfortable in their own skin and their clothes, no matter their size, economic standing, history etc; was quite rewarding and it is something I have missed over the years.  Being a blogger on SL has allowed me to tap into that long dormant passion and I truly feel that there are people listening.   You can be assured that the advice and information you find on my blog will always apply to your real life as well as your second one.  I have decided to write a few posts here soon about colors, and styles and putting things together, after all, we can all use a few pointers from time to time, but today I wanted to talk about what "classic" means when discussing fashion.

Depending on where you were educated or what you look up, there are 6 or 7 distinct "styles" that have surfaced in fashion over the years that go hand in hand often times with people's personalities.  For women, there can be a complete lack of confidence in what they like and what they believe others to like and thus turn away from the things they feel natural and comfortable in.  Have you ever seen that man or woman who is constantly tugging at their clothes?  Pushing a sleeve back up, tugging on jacket sleeves; someone in a constant state of fidget but only with their wardrobe?  They were definitely not wearing their style or proper fit for them, or else the ensemble would have just melded and become a part of them.  It happens to us all through our lives.  That one dress that you just had to have, or the one shirt and you get it home and realize there is nothing in the rest of your closet to go with it, but you wear it anyway and you spend the rest of your day or evening feeling self conscious.  I don't know about you, but being even MORE self conscious is NOT something I want to deal with, so I try and make sure those splurge purchases happen infrequently.  Today I wanted to tease you a bit and show off a truly "Classic" ensemble with its crisp tailored lines and geometric prints that could have been created in the 50's or 60's with a little dramatic flair!

You only have four more days to go check out all the fantastic offerings at this round of Sneak Peek including these adorable high-waisted shorts from Awear.  These are a perfect example of a "classic" design with the high waist, short legs and simple geometric pattern with small buttons reminiscent of beach shorts from the 50's.  Being the bohemian I am, I jumped ahead to the 60's with the bolder pattern and small notched collar for the top, which continued the "classic" look with its straight lines in form and design.  That is one of the keys to always looking polished, by the way, keeping your pieces to the same style, and or pattern.  If you think your hair is too "soft" for the edgy ensemble you have on; or the jewelry a bit too heavy looking,  trust your instincts, you are probably right.  Once I had everything put together I decided it was a Rock-a-billy kind of night and headed out on the grid to find some entertainment.  I happened to wander to a sim based on Nashville and there were entertainers all over and lots of little niches to take pics and everyone was incredibly friendly.  Of course being the scatter brain that I am at times, I completely forgot to LM the location and for some odd reason my teleport history isn't working this week.  I will be on the search again soon so I can take a little more time and wander around and maybe stick around for a performance.

I know style and fashion get used interchangeably but they are very different.  Fashion is what is currently on the runways and take the top designers by storm.  Often times, the current fashion may end up only a trend and will undoubtedly disappear into obscurity, however many things do not.  Today you can see the same styles come down the runway that you have for decades and they usually become the anchor products for a Designer as they are the pieces that will always sell.  The true task is finding your own style, owning it and learning to be comfortable in spite of what the magazines are telling you.  I wore blazers and riding pants with long boots with interesting tops and accessories long before I knew anything about what "Dramatic" style was and long before it became the fashion craze of the 90's.  I loved the crisp lines, bold patterns and daring colors but stayed away from what I always thought were fads because they just didn't suit me.  I always wondered why every time I had to dress up and my Mom picked out some poofy, soft, overly feminine gown I felt uncomfortable and out of place, and it wasn't until I was in my mid-twenties that I began to understand the difference between style and fashion.  Since then, though my interest has never waned, I have spent years away from the fashion industry and years smack dab in the middle learning all I could.  My experience ranges from life behind a makeup counter, to color analysis, to dressing for your shape, to knowing your style, to being a Personal Shopper at Lord & Taylor to finally owning my own business.  For many years it was all I knew, and then one day I wanted a change and went back to school and started a whole new career and life.  Trust me, I would never have had the courage to do that if I hadn't been secure in my presentation of myself to the world.  Even though the days of dressing for the office are over for me, I rarely skip a little mascara, a cute hair do and something that suits my personal style.  Stay tuned for my next post which will describe in detail the six styles of dressing I believe in, and what it really means to you!

A brief shower never ruined a perfect afternoon

If you happen to live in Arizona one of the things you get used to is that if you don't like the weather, simply wait a few moments and it will change.  It is a common phrase heard up here in the mountains because on any given day you might get to experience all four seasons in the span of an afternoon.  You get very used to sudden, violent rainstorms that pass as quickly as they came that can sometimes drop the temperature by twenty or thirty degrees and leave inches of hail in it's wake that looks like snow.  Any outdoor event or gathering is quite often dotted with moments of scrambling for shelter or donning a light sweater or jacket; but you always know it won't last, whatever the disturbance has been.  Lately, it has been absurdly hot for us and I have been praying for a change, which of course I got!  Now the days are spattered with thunder storms and the temps have dropped by around seven degrees, which is just enough to bring some relief.  I was out over the weekend and got caught in one of our gorgeous monsoon storms, and it never "dampened" our spirits, after all, a brief Summer shower never ruined a perfect afternoon.

Waiting for the rain to stop
It is a great time to kick off those heels that have been biting at your toes for the last few hours, hike up that skirt and go scampering through the woods, jumping puddle to puddle.  I am a girly girl in a lot of ways, but I have still never owned a gown or a dress that couldn't withstand a little bit of mud, including my wedding dress.  Though I do have to say, explaining to the dry cleaner all those years ago why the bottom of it looked like I had gone mud bogging was interesting.  The marriage may have only lasted a couple of years but that dress is still perfectly preserved in a box somewhere in my attic.  So if you too are caught this Summer in an afternoon storm, don't fret, enjoy the moment and let your inner tomboy run free!

Indulging in a moment of Summertime melancholia

The past week has set my bi-polar disorder a swinging to and fro which as most people know, irritates the hell out of me.  I take things in stride and have managed my emotions through communication with others and listening to my body for years, but stress often sets me a bit off kilter and my meter is reading "TILT" much like an old pinball machine.  The icing on the cake this week was having to go have a sleep study done last night to check out what goes on in the wee hours of the night and why I don't really sleep.  I haven't been told what time to go to bed since I was 18 years old and still living at home, so when the technician said, "Lights out." at 9:30 pm I had a moment of wtf are you thinking, then closed my eyes and said, to myself, "Alright, let's see how this goes."  I have no idea how long it took me to fall asleep but it was not restful and I am exhausted today, again.  That has been a constant state of being lately, and I have to say I was truly hoping I would get some good rest last night.  My body, however, often has a mind of it's own and last night it decided to pick a fight!  So today, as I was going through my picture pile up I realized that I am feeling completely uninspired today and down, so instead of trying to fight it and come up with a shoddy piece of work, I decided to share with you my current mood.

Poolside @ The Twin's Estate
It's funny, most people don't really know what causes their down swings, but with self awareness and sitting alone with yourself and think about your current situation, what you thought has brought you down is most likely NOT the true reason behind your sudden dip.  For me, Summers make me think of couple's and weddings; picnics in the park and date nights, which being single, this can often turn me a bit melancholy.  But as many of you know, I am not one to fight that downturn, as I know it will always reverse itself in time.  So down to the mainland I went from my platform in the sky and to the pool to curl up and ponder the universe for awhile in this gorgeous new bikini from Jinx!  The suit is an exclusive at Color Me Project and it comes with a 6 color/pattern change HUD for ONLY $99L until the 6th of July when the event ends.  Do yourself a favor and go check out the event and get your hands on all kinds of goodies and make sure when you stop by Jinx, to check out the little hidden discount, rumor has it a starfish holds the key!

"I'm just a girl that needs a little sun, a little rain, an open field to play."

For those of you who know me or who have been following my blog for awhile now know I will always be a Southern girl at heart no matter how long I have had my toes dug into the soft, dark, cinder rich soils of the mountains of Arizona.  Anyone who know the state of Missouri, it is a "Northern" state that was divided in the Civil War. meaning Southern traditions run deep as do the accents, depending on the geographic location.  My family is Kansas and Missouri bred with ties to Tennessee and Kentucky, and I spent a few years down the Atlanta way which means when I am tired, or have had a few glasses of wine, the drawl make an appearance; which of course is met with giggles and requests to repeat certain words.
A couple of days ago my only a/c unit went out and in my world that means DEAL, because a replacement isn't on the horizon.  I have suddenly been transported back to the long, languid Summer days spent at the river or out in the pool.  When makeup was a joke because it melted off your face faster than the ice cream cone in your hand and the buzz of the bees hypnotized you into an almost waking sleep.  I even ended up taking a nap yesterday afternoon with a damp sheet and fans where I ended up dreaming of the back porch swing and the old rickety fan from home.  When I woke last night I had quite a bit of energy when the sun went down and the temps dropped so I hopped on Second Life to see what goodies had come my way during my heat induced coma.  After the dream and the nostalgia that had washed over me during the day I just HAD to show off this fabulous Gingham dress from Jinx!  Needless to say, the outfit matched my day and my dreams and I have been caught up in the memories of back home where I grew up a wildflower.

Wildflower
I was born off an old dirt road 40 acre farm no highway no interstate
& I drive an old rusted out Chevrolet, the boys all rubber neck while their out makin' hay.
Hey, I'm a wildflower, growin' in the sunshine, soakin' up the way of life I was raised in,
runnin' barefoot bloomin' in a summer shower, ponytail dancin' I can't help it. I-I'm a wildflower.
Theres a little cotton dress hangin' in my sisters closet,
I think I'm gonna borrow it, and wear it this weekend.
Painted my toes, bought some cherry lip gloss.
No rose, No daisy, can touch what I got
Yeaah
I'm a wildflower, growin in the sunshine, soakin' up the way of life I was raised in,
runnin' barefoot bloomin' in a summer shower, ponytail dancin' I cant help it. I-I'm a wildflower.
Oooo yeaah oooo yeahh
I'm just a girl that needs a little sun, a little rain, an open field to play
Hey, I'm a wildflower, growin' in the sunshine soakin' up the way of life I was raised in,
runnin' barefoot bloomin' in a summer shower, ponytail dancin' I can't help it. I-I'm a wildflower.

Every walk in the garden can be an adventure of wonder

Grace Kelly was a woman with exquisite taste, style defining looks and poise who exuded true femininity in all she did.  I am a huge old movie buff, and I remember sitting with my mother and watching Alfred Hitchcock movies and how the first time I saw her, I was captivated.  I have read every book ever written about her, and I have stared at pictures for hours taking in her classic, undeniable and eternal style.  She was a movie star and fashion icon long before she married the Prince of Monaco but it was in those days, when money was no longer a though, that she came into her own in the regards to fashion.  The cameras never missed a moment, and she always graced them with her flawless beauty.  There is something special in the old glitz and glamour days of Hollywood; whether it is simply the classic styling of the clothing, or the decadence that abounded, I am unsure.  All I know is that the women from those days, their clothes and the way they presented themselves, will always be something I admire.

AnaMarkova Designs newest release, aptly named "Grace", evokes the days gone by in Hollywood and I truly love the vintage, yet timeless look of this dress.

One of my favorite things to do in the Summer, or really anytime at the beach, is to toss off my shoes and go stand just where the waves break and let my toes sink in as the waves rush out.  To me, that moment is almost infinite in it's motion.  To think for eons these same waters have washed upon these identical sands, depositing their treasures from the deep and burying memories of the past amongst their tiny grains.  To hold a handful and watch each, sparkling grain fall and disappear with the billions below is to realize that each one could hold a single memory, a dream, a hope from other travelers much like yourself.  I wonder, how many wishes have you made on the sparkling waters and sun baked sands of your lifetime?  I know I have made more than a few, probably close to a dozen or more.  But the secrets, and dreams I have shared, that tumbled from me and out into the universe are far too many to count, and I am glad that each tiny grain remembers them even if I do not.

On the seashore of endless worlds children meet.
The infinite sky is motionless overhead and the restless water is boisterous. On the seashore of endless worlds the children meet with shouts and dances.
They build their houses with sand, and they play with empty shells. With withered leaves they weave their boats and smilingly float them on the vast deep. Children have their play on the seashore of worlds.
They know not how to swim, they know not how to cast nets. Pearl-fishers dive for pearls, merchants sail in their ships, while children gather pebbles and scatter them again. They seek not for hidden treasures, they know not how to cast nets.
The sea surges up with laughter, and pale gleams the smile of the sea-beach. Death-dealing waves sing meaningless ballads to the children, even like a mother while rocking her baby's cradle. The sea plays with children, and pale gleams the smile of the sea-beach.
On the seashore of endless worlds children meet. Tempest roams in the pathless sky, ships are wrecked in the trackless water, death is abroad and children play. On the seashore of endless worlds is the great meeting of children.

Fall into Summer in Flower Dreams at Sneak Peek

I hope everyone has been enjoying the last week, I have been taking a few days away to concentrate on a plan for my future on SL and I am very excited about where things are going in my life right now.  Sneak Peek opens in just a couple more days and I just HAD to give you a little teaser to get you as excited for this event as I am!  Fuzz Lennie and Nice Wildrose set out on their own this past month and have created an amazing new fashion and marketing agency based on their years of experience with Penumbra, called Solaris, which is now hosting the fantastic Sneak Peek event you have come to know and love.  The management company is new, the location is new, the designs are new; but you will still find quality high fashion items specifically tailored to the current and upcoming season in the most fashion forward creations on the grid!  Sneak Peek starts June 25th and will run through July 5th so get ready to get your chic Sneak Peek!

The magnificent "Adele" ensemble is exclusively available for the event from Flower Dreams and comes with the hat, dress and gloves, though I chose to go for a lighter look and opted to not wear the long black gloves.  The dress is mesh with add-on pieces and the hat is easy to move and adds a wonderful depth to this gown making it perfect for your Summer events.  I dug into my jewelry box and brought out one of my favorite sets from JUMO as I thought it suit the dress perfectly, and if you haven't discovered their jewels yet, then let this be the post that sends you on over to the store.  Each piece is well textured and intricately detailed making each piece a true work of art, which in my mind is how true designer jewelry is all about.  I hope you have enjoyed this teaser, it may be the first, but it will not be the last, count on it!

Sweet Sun Tea and the buzz of the bees in the afternoon

Though I have been out West now since 1994, I will always consider myself to be a Southern girl at heart, and those who spend a lot of time around me could tell you the accent still kicks in and my kitchen seems to always be bubbling with some staple from the South.  I rather like it that way, for there is a certain pace that holds true in the South that I truly enjoy.  Those long, lazy, lovely days spent basking in the sun, or relaxing on the front porch swing with a glass of fresh sun tea in hand, and evenings full of lightning bugs, barbeques and secret kisses in the dark.  With the heat wave that has the West Coast broiling this week, my thoughts of course drift back to home and nostalgia has swept over me.  These terracotta tiles don't feel like home and I swear if I close my eyes, I can remember the sweet smell of honeysuckle still on the vine and the soft buzz of the bees singing on the wind.

If you are looking for that perfect swimsuit this Summer season then make sure to head over to NoName and get your hands on their newest release, "Amy."  The suit has a retro, classic styling and the mesh fits incredibly well on my mesh body with just a few clicks of my alphas, which is always a plus in my book.  The suit comes with a color change HUD for the suit body, the bow and the studs across the bodice, making it very versatile and sure to fit your style and mood this Summer.  I know it did today as my mind drifted back to those Summers of my youth and I took some time to relax and reflect under the Arizona sun.

Lost in his headlights

I know everyone has had that moment when they are waiting for that special someone to pull up to the curb, or into the driveway to pick you up for a special night; and as the headlights track from your toes to your head, that sudden, self conscious moment washes over you just like the lights.  Tonight, as the lights flashed up the drive I felt almost bashful as my eyes rose to meet his.  Have to love those little moments that still make you go weak in the knees; whether it's a new love or an old one, those times are special.

Two designers have truly captured what Summer feels like for me with their breezy, yet form fitting creations created in a stunning true beach and tropics palette.  Lush by CoCo releases in collections, so these fantastic designs are not new to the grid, but are definitely must haves for this skin baring Summer season.  Loovus has wonderful, gauzy dresses for the summer for you to check out that premiered at the last round of Sneak Peek, as well as these sexy, strappy heels in complimentary colors to both stores' collections.  Do yourself a favor and head on over to Loolush and discover the amazing creations from Lush by CoCo and Loovus!

I love the fit on this dress as it didn't break or stretch when posing or walking around on the grid.  It fit PERFECTLY with my Slink Physique after just a few clicks which is always a plus in my book.  If you are looking for a gorgeous jewelry set for this Summer as well, make sure to head by Lazuri and pick up the STUNNING new collection that was released for Spring.  The set includes, earrings, necklace, bracelets and two styles of rings.  "Touch" any of the pieces to change the stones, pearls and metals to match your favorite ensembles.

I hope you too have those moments in your life that remind you why they always say. "young at heart."  I don't care what age a person is supposed to be, it is all about the age they feel, and right now I am like a giddy school girl about to head out for her first date!  Have a wonderfully wicked rest of your night and remember to always stay true to your style and make today's fashion trends work for you!

"Summer came like cinnamon, so sweet"

Spring was something that never really hit the high country here in Arizona this year, but Summer is peeking around the corner and the temps are rising.  I remember Summer's growing up in St. Louis and how as the temperatures grew so did the evening adventures into the Central West End; with its sidewalk cafes, retro clothing stores, restaurants and my favorite place, Vintage Vinyl.  Though I spent my teens listening to cassette tapes there is something so classic and pure about a record printed on vinyl.  I hate that my son and the majority of his friends have no idea what a "record" is, let alone know what to do with it if they ever found one!  Vintage Vinyl had cubicles you could play records in and I remember stuffing 4 or 5 teen girls into one to hear the newest release from one of our favorite bands.  Needless to say as I was out wandering around looking for a place to inspire me for a picture, I headed by Indie Heights, and to my surprise found Vintage Vinyl.  Though a little modern, I was immediately transported back in time and I closed my eyes for a moment and I swear I could smell the fresh pressed vinyl.  If you too have a love of records and are looking for a spot to just chill out and think about the times gone by, then head on over to your favorite Thrift Shop and grab an old player with a couple of albums and get nostalgic with me for simpler times.

Three little birds sat on my window
And they told me I don't need to worry
Summer came like cinnamon, so sweet
Little girls, double-dutch on the concrete
Maybe sometimes we got it wrong, but it's all right
The more things seems to change, the more they stay the same
Ooo, don't you hesitate

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans
I hope you get your dreams
Just go ahead, let your hair down
You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow
Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On

I absolutely love the retro Boho feel of this fringe top with its tailored shorts.  Both are very well made, though I will say you might have some breaking through when wearing a mesh body when twisting and turning.  But as you can see here, it is very pose specific and doesn't interfere with wearing it at all.  Do yourself a favor and head on by AnaMarkova Designs and check out all the gorgeous new releases including the one featured here.

Somewhere down the rabbit hole

If you are an Alice in Wonderland fan then you REALLY need to make your way over to the Alice in Sexyland currently happening on the grid.  An event tailored for the adults with a love of the story that features all kinds of "sexy" takes on the traditional tale, including this adorably sexy outfit from Kaithleen's.  The top and skirt come in a variety of colors for you to choose from and each is at a discounted price for the duration of the event.  Once I wiggled into this fit I took a chance and headed on over to Dysphoria and paid my 200L to join the group and took my adventure down the rabbit hole.

Your magic white rabbit
Has left it's writing on the wall
We follow like Alice
And just keep diving down the hole

I wandered into Rabbit's house shortly after my arrival, tiptoeing up the stairs and into his private sanctuary.  I know he could come back at any time, and I am sure he will as the still warm body under the rug in here probably needs dealt with soon.  But the fire drew me in and my eyes started to get heavy in the warm room and the little couch was far too inviting so I paused for a moment to rest my eyes in the late afternoon.  To my surprise I opened my eyes again to find the fire stoked with stars dotting the sky.  How long had I been asleep you ask?  I still don't know, and not sure I ever will.  In the corner he sat, quietly, almost invisible to the naked eye in the darkness of the room.  His cane in hand, whiskers twitching as he eyed me up and down.  I know I gasped a little as I strained to look at him, but the paw to his lips made me silent myself immediately.  The paw moved to motion out the door and I did not need to be told twice.  Away I ran, as fast as my little feet could carry me from the Rabbit with the lecherous grin.  I guess I shouldn't be angry with him for looking at me that way, for I was asleep on his sofa with barely a thing to cover me.  Pausing a moment outside his door, I realized my heart was beating a little too fast as I thought about the Rabbit and his intentions towards me, so on I ran, back to the door hoping this time I could return home!

Front porch and one more kiss

At 43, the idea of romance and love is something that I actually don't spend much time thinking about anymore.  Now to some people this may come as a surprise, but in the last couple of years it has become clear that dating etc. will happen after my son graduates from high school.  And in all reality, I am quite alright with that.  After all, he will be 18 and I will be 45 which puts me in the prime of my life, as far as I am concerned.  However, life has a way of throwing us curve balls and there has been one person for over a year now who continues to pique my interest.  Now that it looks like he might be a little more serious than expected, my thoughts have turned to what I want when it comes to love in my life.  I refuse to settle again for anything that doesn't make my toes curl and my heart skip a few beats.  I want fun, and most of all I want crazy; at least my kind of crazy.

But I don't want good and I don't want good enough
I want can't sleep, can't breathe without your love
Front porch and one more kiss, it doesn't make sense to anybody else
Who cares if you're all I think about,
I've searched the world and I know now,
It ain't right if you ain't lost your mind
Yea I don't want easy, I want crazy
Hunter Hayes - I Want Crazy
And it's funny, a lot of the single women I know feel the same way, especially when you hit that magical age of 40.  It's that time of life when there is no settling and you are comfortable in your own skin, at least that's what I have discovered along the way.  For those of you reading this who haven't found that comfort zone in your own skin then dig down deep and find the love you lost for yourself.  You are the most important person in your life and you have to love yourself before you can find that crazy love you are looking for.  I thought that thought was always a bit of b.s. until I spent a few years alone finding out who I really was, which in turn showed me the path to what I wanted.  Now to find out if this certain someone is on the same page as I am and is looking for a little bit of crazy in his life!

Beautiful in her strangeness

I have been a lover of fine art since I was in high school thanks to the father of one of my best friend's growing up.  Every inch of their home in the Central West End area of downtown St. Louis was covered in pieces of abstract, post modern Soho art, as he described it.  I learned early on about Warhol, and his contemporaries; falling in love with the stories and the people involved over time.  Those Neo-Expressionists were not the only art that lined the walls, one captivated me even in it's disturbing imagery and I had to know the story behind the print.  A woman on a bed, surrounded by objects with tiny, vein like strings attaching each piece to her body, including a fetus.  Frida Kahlo was the name etched across the bottom of the piece and who she was, and her story became something of a fascination for me.  An incredibly talented woman whose life was riddled with tragedy who used her pain to create magnificent self-portraits that she bravely shared with the world; Frida Kahlo influenced generations of artists and women.

"I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you.”
Frida Kahlo

I went out searching for the perfect location to take a picture of this dress and I wandered into a brand new ballroom!  The Brigadoon Ballroom is a well decorated, outdoor venue with flowers, candles, pianos and places to dance, sit and cuddle with that special someone.  What you won't find are tip jars, for the creator doesn't care about the money, he simply wanted an elegant location for people to put on their finest and come dance the night away.  I think he has a home run here, as I stayed for quite awhile just to check out all the intimate locations dotted about the venue.  There is a group already put together so you can stay informed of the upcoming grand opening, so head on over and check it out before Brigadoon becomes the hottest date night spot on the grid!
