Some journeys lead you down roads never expected - Petit Chat & Del Alba Creations

On the 9th of June my man and I took off for ten days to Washington to attend his daughter's graduation from college.  Neither of us had ever been to that part of the country, so we were more than excited to start our journey, but where it led neither of us ever expected.  For those of you who have been following me for a while now, you know I suffer from a lovely cocktail of autoimmune issues including Lupus, which has kept me home for over a decade now with pain, muscle and other body issues.  When we landed in Seattle I didn't think much about the fact that I wasn't in much pain, but when I woke the next morning after sleeping on a crappy mattress and I didn't hurt, I started to think maybe my adrenaline was going or that my brain had just turned on the endorphins knowing I still had a car ride left to go before we were finally at our destination.  By day two of not really hurting, just a few aches and muscles that needed stretched and miles of walking in the beautiful Washington air along the coastline, we were convinced the altitude of Flagstaff was truly effecting me negatively.  My heart didn't act up the entire time we were away, my blood pressure wasn't high, I didn't need my pain pills and my man and I got to do things together, instead of me staying put while he ventured off hiking.  After returning home I ended up terribly sick for two weeks and my heart is once again acting up and the pain is back, so our eyes have turned to moving to Washington, which was the furthest thing from our minds when we set out on this journey, and now all roads are leading that direction and to new opportunities.

Chess like kings and queens above all - Virtual Diva

I am feeling a bit feisty today, and I am not quite sure why, other than the weather has once again turned towards Spring and I am looking quite forward to it's rather late arrival.  The garden has been planted for a bit now with the more resilient plants and next week all the baby plants in the kitchen window get to find their way into the soil, but not before the fence is finished so the rabbits can stop running off with my baby Rhubarb and Swiss Chard!  And of course as the temperatures rise we have a tendency to shed layers and start revealing more skin, and if you are looking for an ensemble that goes from the runway to the beach then look no further than this amazing ensemble from Virtual Diva, currently at Swank!

The Delirium ensemble comes with the headpiece add-on and the hip flowers as well as the daring swimsuit that reveals just enough, but not very much!  I loved the fit on this suit especially as I walked and posed and it didn't break or stretch the wrong way, but be careful when posing the hip pieces might need to be moved.  The textures are wonderfully done on the roses and I love the edgy, Summer runway feel of this ensemble, and I am hoping you all do too, because this seriously needs to make its way into your closet!  

Lately I have fallen in love with Nanika tattoos, and this has to be my favorite!  I picked it up a couple months ago but make sure to check out current events for other amazing pieces, I know I will be grabbing them as soon as my wallet can afford it!  Trust me, you won't be disappointed when you see all the fabulous designs.

This is my time to learn and grow; to shed the skin of my past and fly free.

I am not usually a resolution maker at midnight on New Years Eve, but this year I decided to jump on the band wagon and made one that I thought could be easily done.  So I told myself this was going to be the year of learning.  Now I was thinking primarily of Second Life when I made that resolution, as this is also the year I would like to open a shop, but I didn't expect the "learning" to be a part of my life in general.  In the past 7 months however, I have come to find out that every part of my life would be put through a learning curve, so to speak, and that all I can do is hold on for the ride.  On a personal and professional level I wanted to grow this year and to take chances on myself, with myself.  From that I have found an entire new world open up with tons of possibilities and I have become a firm believer in setting goals.  For me, it is one of those things that if you think it enough, it will manifest itself.  Whether it be true love, a new business, or just better health, if you believe enough that you deserve it, you will find what you need.  But isn't that the BIG dilemma?  Wants and needs.....sometimes what you want, isn't what you need and sometimes what you need, isn't what you thought you wanted.  When you are faced with such a moment, do yourself a favor and shed your skin and fly free into a new and unknown world, who knows what will be waiting for you on the other side!

I think I have a serious problem with shopping!  When I got back, with all the goodies that have been piling up, what did I do?  I went shopping!  Well it was the first of the month meaning there were all kinds of events starting that I just HAD to go check out!  My first stop was FaMESHed, which with the new computer it loaded fast AND I could walk around when it was full, and I found all kinds of goodies, including this gorgeous ensemble which you can pick up at the event, other than the hair.  I love the new slip dress from Valentina E, and it comes in a variety of colorful patterns, perfect for your Summer night soirees, especially matched up with this precious new jewelry collection from Cae and these fabulous heels from Pure Poison, which happen to have an amazing color change HUD.  Since I have finished my backyard area now, I literally changed into this outfit and plopped into the chair to stare out at the water for a bit when I realized how perfect the pose was for my mood.  I feel free now that I have shed the skin of my past, and along with it my scars, leaving a blank slate to start afresh with learning, living and loving!

Spring has arrived on the Yorkshire Moors

For some time now I have been visiting the gorgeous sim where Rayne Couture sits to take photos and often to just sit and relax.  The Yorkshire Moors have been immaculately appointed by the amazing Pink Rayne who decorated this sim to remind herself of her childhood home.  Wandering the paths throughout you will find lots of little treasures and places to sit and snap a photo or 100.  The landscape is dotted with rare thickets of trees and flowers, long grasses and wide open spaces where beauty abounds, which isn't often what comes to mind when thinking of a moor, but this is truly a beautiful sight to behold!  When I put on this gorgeous ensemble from AlaFolie for ReVamped, which happens to end in only 3 days, I knew I wanted to take a stroll over on the moors.

The peaceful tranquility of Dawn

If you like to sleep late then you probably miss out on one of the most spectacular times of day in my opinion, especially in the Fall.  The frost hangs heavy on what remains of the leaves on the trees and as the Sun edges over the horizon steam rises as the beams instantly bring life to the still surroundings.  The snow has melted down here in town, but the mountains continue to be blanketed in white.  This morning as the Sun danced with its rainbow of colors I had a perfect moment of peace as I stood with my cup of coffee and let the rays warm me as they did my surroundings.  Do yourself a favor and get up early sometime, before the bitter chill of Winter sets in and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the Dawn.

Heading back to the Milky Way

I have always been what my Father would call mercurial; constantly at the mercy of my whims.  But for most people this conjures the idea of an irresponsible, fickle person, which is incredibly far from the truth when it comes to me.  My Father taught me to be responsible in spite of my nature and over the years I have managed to keep the two in balance; my head is always in the clouds, searching out the stars for something else out there, with my feet firmly on the ground.  My new home on SL is a perfect example of that nature with its cluttered style and eclectic composition and I have found myself sitting at my telescope staring at the stars, just as I do in my real life.  Join me as I "dance along the light of day and head on back towards the Milky Way."

Beautiful and afraid of nothing, as though I had wings

For those of you who know my story, you know that life has given me my fair share of curve balls along the way and that I seem to take everything pretty much in stride, with just a few hiccups along the way.  To those on the outside looking in I seem to handle everything that comes my way and continue to smile and attempt to make people laugh.  But for those who are closest to the Jester in her court know that there are cracks in the facade for most of the time the only thing people see is a mask.  When the lights go down at the end of the day and the house grows quiet, the masks come off and what is revealed is often a worn out, tearful woman in incredible pain who has very few moments to spend just with herself.  When the pain cycle has gotten out of control I have a bit of mania that kicks in and so I end up not being able to sleep, which is really the only break I get from the pain.  So it becomes a cycle and I feel at war with my own body every hour of every day.  Over the years, one of the ways I find to get lost is to read.  And I have been told I "consume" not read, which is probably a pretty accurate description of how I read when I am in need of an escape.  It has been so long since I first picked up a collection of poems from Mary Oliver that I forget there was a time in my life where her books and quotes didn't live in my homes.  I am known to quote her often and I am proud to have introduced her to so many people over the decades.  Lately, the court Jester/ Nurse Nightengale hasn't been feeling so perky and to be honest, my mood is pretty low.  I am still up at 4 a.m. (now 5 am as I finish this post) with no sleep in sight soon, breakfast and getting Jesse off to school will happen in just a few hours and there is a part of me wishing I wasn't me at the moment.  It is one of those days that the darkness has crept in and I long for a light revealing an answer to relief.  This, may take some time, and as I was sitting and reading a phrase, quote, stanza, if you like, started tumbling its way out of the recesses of my brain and into consciousness.

For a moment, I want the daily struggles to just take a coffee break and let me return to my carefree life I had once upon a time, where every movement wasn't considered and options weighed before committing to the simplest of tasks.  But this cocoon I live in, I am firmly convinced that someday from my chrysalis I will struggle and crawl, emerging to greet the light as my beautiful, unique wings unfurl and carry me far away to a new life, free from pain, my constant companion, never my friend.  I find, taking time to be with yourself, to love yourself, to know yourself is often the quickest path to discovering your wings, and as I sat tonight, the moment was just right, and the lighting just perfect for a glimpse inside my cocoon.

Too many people try to hide when they get down or simply pretend that it doesn't happen to them, but let's be honest, everyone has their moments.  I have told you all before I like being the melancholy baby from time to time, it keeps me grounded and honest and sometimes lingering there, for a moment can make you appreciate even more the amazing things around you!

Sparkling waters and sun baked sands

One of my favorite things to do in the Summer, or really anytime at the beach, is to toss off my shoes and go stand just where the waves break and let my toes sink in as the waves rush out.  To me, that moment is almost infinite in it's motion.  To think for eons these same waters have washed upon these identical sands, depositing their treasures from the deep and burying memories of the past amongst their tiny grains.  To hold a handful and watch each, sparkling grain fall and disappear with the billions below is to realize that each one could hold a single memory, a dream, a hope from other travelers much like yourself.  I wonder, how many wishes have you made on the sparkling waters and sun baked sands of your lifetime?  I know I have made more than a few, probably close to a dozen or more.  But the secrets, and dreams I have shared, that tumbled from me and out into the universe are far too many to count, and I am glad that each tiny grain remembers them even if I do not.

Broke down palace

I remember Momma used to tell me I lived in fairytales and that the only thing he would ever bring me is a broke down palace.....  I guess, in the end, she was right.

The With Love Fair opened on the 6th and if you haven't been by you really should head on over especially with Valentine's Day only a couple days away now.  Tameless has released the "Open Heart" outfit as an exclusive for the event in red and black.  The ensemble consists of the top, jeans, bracelets and shoes.  For all of the applier lovers, this outfit comes with pretty much every one you could ever need.  I love the detailing on these jeans, and the cuffs were not a pain in my ass to adjust, which made me very happy.  The top is mesh and comes in the standard sizes ensuring a perfect fit every time.  Take some time and wander on over to the event and grab one in your favorite color and when there peruse the other goods from some amazing creators!

Ylla's Dream

"The wind stirred her russet hair, crooning softly in her ears.  She stood silently looking out into the great sallow distances of sea bottom, as if recalling something, her yellow eyes soft and moist, "Drink to my only with thine eyes, and I will pledge with mine," she sang, softly, quietly, slowly.  "Or leave a kiss within the cup, and I'll not ask for wine."  She hummed now, moving her hands in the wind ever so lightly, her eyes shut.  She finished the song."

Hours and days later Ylla watched her husband head out for a hunting trip, as he called it, wearing his Battle Mask and carrying his gun.  Time slowed for Ylla as she began to fret and fuss about the house, keeping herself busy with the menial duties of tending to their home, yet all the while, the song she couldn't place with strange words and a haunting melody kept playing in her head.  In the distance, two shots rang out, clear as a bell to Ylla's ears, making her quiver and shake.  She looked to the sky and wondered if her dream had been a reality, and that a man from somewhere else had indeed landed on their soil.  Would her husband?  Could he?  Was he really so frightened, by just a dream?  It was after all, a dream was it not?  She didn't know how much time had passed when she heard his footsteps on the porch.  Her hand flew to her throat as he opened the door, unsure of what she was to see.  His mask remained, "...hammered from silver metal, expressionless, the mask that he always wore when he wished to hide his feelings, the mask that curved and hollowed exquisitely to his thin cheeks and chin and brow."  Ylla stepped to her husband and slipped the mask from his face, holding it in her hand as if inspecting it.  Turning the cold metal over in her hands she wondered more about the shots that had rang out in the dark.  

Could donning this simple mask make her husband into a man she didn't know?  Eyes to the sky, the haunting melody playing itself out in her head as she thought of the black haired, blue eyed stranger from her dreams.  Was there another world beyond theirs?  More than one?  Was every star that dotted her horizon a place full of mystery and wonder with creatures similar to Martians but inherently different?  Had she somehow connected with these beings for a moment; and that they shared this melody?  But as she stood there she realized she could no longer remember and she began to cry.  

"Why are you crying? He asked.

I don't know, I don't know, but I can't help it!  I'm sad and I don't know why, I cry and I don't know why, but I'm crying. Her head was in her hands; her shoulders moved again and again.

You'll be alright tomorrow, he said.

She did not look up at him; she looked only at the empty (sea) and the very bright stars coming out now on the black sky, and far away there was a sound of wind rising and canal waters stirring cold in the long canals.  She shut her eyes trembling.

Yes, she said, I'll be all right tomorrow."

Forgive me Father.....

Now, I know that every Friday when I head out for my Fifty Linden adventure that there are quite a few people out and about with me, but I still don't think there is enough recognition of how truly wonderful this group is for people on SL.  I wish someone had told me about FLF when I first started, because I know I could have saved a lot of money on clothing and furniture items if I had been willing to shop on a weekly, not whenever the fancy struck, basis.  While FLF is not the only group of its kind, so far, I have been incredibly impressed!  And EVERY week, The Plastik continues to astound me with what is offered in the store!  This week....I bring you Catechism Princess!  Honestly, way too many items to even list in this bundle of gothic darkness, seeing is truly believing!

Zenith's End of Summer

As summer comes to a close, I found myself wandering through FaMeshed, and The Chapter Four realizing that I had become addicted to =Zenith= this summer.  An idea started to swirl its way around my brain and I decided to show off my favorite pieces from the current events and especially from =Zenith=!
