I know that everyone has been talking about the holidays and about all the cheer, and family and togetherness but many forget that there are people all over the world alone during the holidays, and with Christmas just a few days away, this has been on my mind. We all get caught up in our lives and what's going on, but we forget about the man who lives next door whose wife died last year, and whose children live on the other side of the country. What is he doing Christmas Eve? Or Christmas Day? Do you think his holiday is full of joy and cheer? See that lady sitting at the diner counter tonight? Every night she comes to sit at the counter and chat with the waitress and the cook, but what will she do when the diner is closed because they are all home with their families? I try and go out of my way during the coldest, darkest months of the year to bring a bit of joy to those who struggle to find it every day. Whether it's through a card, batch of cookies or an invite to dinner, I know that this tiny thing I do reminds these people that someone still wonders what is going on in their lives. No one has ever accepted Christmas dinner, but the smiles I have gotten with the cookies over the years keeps the joy in my heart even in the bleakest of times. I hope that this Christmas message strikes home and prompts you to say hello, Merry Christmas, or gets you to bake more cookies to be given to that older gentleman down the street who is missing his wife. Remember the greatest present you can give this year is the gift of true charity.

As I sit and look out the window my view happens to be a bit short at the moment, since all I can see is white! The snow has been falling off and on since Sunday night and apparently we are due up to 6 inches by the time day is done and another 6 tomorrow. Which if I had put up a tree and was planning on spending Christmas here at home, it would be fantastic. However, the holidays are down at my parents this year and my sister doesn't get off of work until late tomorrow afternoon. So now I sit wondering if we are even going to be able to get down there for Christmas, which has me a bit cranky and preoccupied at the moment. However, to brighten up my day I headed on over to Trés Chic to do a little retail therapy and see if I could lighten my mood a bit, and it worked! No matter where I happen to end up for Christmas at least I will wonderfully chic!
This round of Trés Chic is full of outdoor and garden accessories as well as TONS of hair and some fantastic wardrobe pieces as well. On Friday I had picked up this fantastic dress from Valentina E for Fifty Linden Fridays and I went to Trés Chic hoping to find something to toss over it to create the perfect ensemble and I didn't have to look very far! This adorable, fuzzy jacket is by Mimikiri and comes in a wide variety of colors AND there is also a gifty in the booth which happens to be this jacket in Red, which as far as I am concerned, that is reason enough to head to the event! But if you are still needing more incentive then check out these fabulous heels from Ricielli! The Astrid heels come in the Fatpack at the event offering you 20 different colors via HUD with metal choices as well. I love the v front on the shoes that actually looks a lot like a deer hoof, which I think is a brilliant touch this time of year, and I hope you do too. I love to decorate around my little home sim and when I saw these pieces from Shutterfield, I knew they would fit right in with the current decor around the land. Do you remember when Christmas was filled with toys that sometimes required batteries, the bigger the stuffed animal the better, parents stayed up hours to put together bicycles, and hours spent sitting around the tree with the family? No one thinking of working on Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day and the biggest stressor was often the drunk Aunt passed out on the sofa after sneaking a bit too much Rum in her Eggnog. Now, everyone under 25 is glued to a phone/laptop/tablet and the gifts always have something to do with video games or computers which makes them small, and the invention of gift cards, though convenient they taken much of the fun out of opening gifts, in my opinion. As we continue to grow more and more attached to our technological devices the more distant we grow from each other, it seems. When our family gets together there is a basket for all the devices to be tossed in during "family" events, like dinner, movies or like later this week, Christmas. Everything has become automatic, convenient, and easy yet the times before that seem easier and I truly long for them. Even my family, who cherishes our time together has gone to checks the month before so we can buy what we want and part of me really hates that system. I long to be surprised on Christmas morning again with a gift I never would have thought to buy for myself and I wish for a time when tons of presents are stacked under the tree, or at least a couple special ones. In the end, I guess I wish for a simpler time when everything wasn't automatic.

With all the turmoil going on in the world as of late a prayer I heard many, many years ago keeps finding it's way into my brain. With it being Christmas I couldn't think of a better time to share it. As most people know I am an incredibly spiritual person but I find dogma to be the biggest issue for anyone with religion. So I offer this up with no particular God or faith in mind, just a prayer I put out there in hopes of peace around the world.

I love those moments when you just plop down somewhere to set up a scene and I realize that the pose I just randomly sat in captured my mood perfectly. I often find myself staring out the window when it's cold outside and daydreaming of the beach, or a warm fire, or cuddles with a special someone and today is one of those days where I seem to be doing a whole lot of nothing besides staring out the window. When I spotted this pose in the Battered Chair from unKindness I knew I had found the place to capture my mood.
Drifting off into the shadows I can hear the waves lapping at the beach as it creeps forward as the tide comes in; the warmth of the sun on my skin and the feel of your hand clasped in mine as we walk along the beach. Perfectly at peace with a smile on my face, the chill of the storm on the horizon fades from my bones and for a moment I am caught in a daydream.

For some strange reason this day ran away from me and I honestly can't tell you where it went. Though I did get a bunch of work done so I can relax my back a bit more this week. My nerves are shot after all these weeks of pain and it was confirmed on Friday that I will not be seeing a Surgeon until the 16th of September. Needless to say the love and support of my friends and family, online and offline, is greatly appreciated and needed right now. I took a stroll yesterday over to Vivaldi, as it always seems to brighten my spirits. Now I know the more I talk about the location the more crowded it will become and I will no longer have that little oasis to myself and well of course, the land owners, but I am more than willing to share! Spring was something that never really hit the high country here in Arizona this year, but Summer is peeking around the corner and the temps are rising. I remember Summer's growing up in St. Louis and how as the temperatures grew so did the evening adventures into the Central West End; with its sidewalk cafes, retro clothing stores, restaurants and my favorite place, Vintage Vinyl. Though I spent my teens listening to cassette tapes there is something so classic and pure about a record printed on vinyl. I hate that my son and the majority of his friends have no idea what a "record" is, let alone know what to do with it if they ever found one! Vintage Vinyl had cubicles you could play records in and I remember stuffing 4 or 5 teen girls into one to hear the newest release from one of our favorite bands. Needless to say as I was out wandering around looking for a place to inspire me for a picture, I headed by Indie Heights, and to my surprise found Vintage Vinyl. Though a little modern, I was immediately transported back in time and I closed my eyes for a moment and I swear I could smell the fresh pressed vinyl. As I was putting these pictures together today, a song started dancing it's way through my brain. At first it was just the melody, and then it came together and one line kept repeating itself over and over again. I realized as I put the last touches on the photos that it was actually a perfect title and mood to go along with my post for the day. As you can tell, I had quite a bit of fun at The Arcade this round, and I have no complaints because I actually got everything I went there for without having to break the bank to do it. Which, I know is probably a surprise for most of you out there who have ventured to the event this time. I had been decorating this scene when I took a break and opened up my newest goodies from AnaMarkova Designs and suddenly it went from just a scene to an entire post with a very calm, casual, lazy, romantic, "days of Summer feel", at least for me. The current round of Uber has my little boho heart all kinds of happy. I know that isn't the theme, but the henna tattoos and India inspired designs speak to my inner soul and truly make me happy. This is truly a "Jade" kind of outfit and completely fits into my idea of Bohemian Couture. Every detail of this ensemble is perfectly designed to compliment or accent each other, making it a great addition to any closet, especially those of you with a Boho flair. The top and pants are well meshed and wonderfully textured as are the accessories that go so well with the sexy stilettos.

Last night my best friend returned from a week long trip to California and as all of us know, road trips, when they end, you are REALLY happy to get back home and into the comforts of your regular, every day life. So this of course meant a couple bottles of wine were shared over great conversation with laughter as she told me of her adventures over the past week. To keep myself productive while we rambled on, I jumped onto my platform to decorate a bit to make my pose props look a little bit more homey. What's funny, is that she and I used to have these stars we hung from the ceiling that have adorned two of the homes we have lived in over the last decade. So as I spotted my starts from Hideki from an ancient Gacha, I decided to pay a little homage to our years of friendship. She will always be my supportive star, and I hers, it is just one of those things that happens in life that you don't really have an explanation for, but thank the powers that be everyday for their presence in your life. I think, a lot of times we end up taking these "stars" for granted in our lives. They are the ones that are always there, no matter the time that has passed. A simple text or a call and you are right back to where you left off. Like the stars in the sky of the Milky Way, these kinds of friends are eternal, infinite even. Cherish them and always keep your stars polished with your appreciation of their presence in your life.
Recently I have been talking about the fact that I am truly a Bohemian at heart and today is a perfect example of a modern take on a Vintage look. The utilitarian start of the modern jumpsuit comes from probably where you would assume it would, parachutists and race car drivers, but in 1919 a very fashion forward designer by the name of Florentine Thayat, who released it an avant garde, futuristic outfit to challenge the norms of dressing for women. And that moment, started a long, creative and amazing trend that all started from a one piece garment with a belt and a few buttons or a zipper. I found this fantastic article with great pictures depicting the evolution of the Jumpsuit over time, plus found a few more modern examples as well, as the article stopped at 2011.
