This is my time to learn and grow; to shed the skin of my past and fly free.

I am not usually a resolution maker at midnight on New Years Eve, but this year I decided to jump on the band wagon and made one that I thought could be easily done.  So I told myself this was going to be the year of learning.  Now I was thinking primarily of Second Life when I made that resolution, as this is also the year I would like to open a shop, but I didn't expect the "learning" to be a part of my life in general.  In the past 7 months however, I have come to find out that every part of my life would be put through a learning curve, so to speak, and that all I can do is hold on for the ride.  On a personal and professional level I wanted to grow this year and to take chances on myself, with myself.  From that I have found an entire new world open up with tons of possibilities and I have become a firm believer in setting goals.  For me, it is one of those things that if you think it enough, it will manifest itself.  Whether it be true love, a new business, or just better health, if you believe enough that you deserve it, you will find what you need.  But isn't that the BIG dilemma?  Wants and needs.....sometimes what you want, isn't what you need and sometimes what you need, isn't what you thought you wanted.  When you are faced with such a moment, do yourself a favor and shed your skin and fly free into a new and unknown world, who knows what will be waiting for you on the other side!

I think I have a serious problem with shopping!  When I got back, with all the goodies that have been piling up, what did I do?  I went shopping!  Well it was the first of the month meaning there were all kinds of events starting that I just HAD to go check out!  My first stop was FaMESHed, which with the new computer it loaded fast AND I could walk around when it was full, and I found all kinds of goodies, including this gorgeous ensemble which you can pick up at the event, other than the hair.  I love the new slip dress from Valentina E, and it comes in a variety of colorful patterns, perfect for your Summer night soirees, especially matched up with this precious new jewelry collection from Cae and these fabulous heels from Pure Poison, which happen to have an amazing color change HUD.  Since I have finished my backyard area now, I literally changed into this outfit and plopped into the chair to stare out at the water for a bit when I realized how perfect the pose was for my mood.  I feel free now that I have shed the skin of my past, and along with it my scars, leaving a blank slate to start afresh with learning, living and loving!

In stillness you will find unexpected beauty

I  hope everyone had a fantastic week while I have been away for my Thanksgiving with my family, I know I am exhausted no matter how relaxing it seemed at the time.  There is always so much to do and conversations that last long into the night along with too much to eat and too much to drink; leaving me drained and still feeling stuffed.  Today I needed to find a quiet spot and just chill for a bit as my brain begins to adjust to a new work week.  As I wandered through the Winter wonderland I found myself in I paused for a moment and thought about how in stillness you can find unexpected beauty, as my eyes drifted to the wildlife around me.  This is true in our real lives as well.  When you take a walk in the silent stillness of a landscape covered by a fresh snow, pause for a few moments and wait, I am sure within a few minutes you will find unexpected beauty that you would have missed if you had just continued to trudge along.

Ever since my son was a little boy I have reminded him that Mother Nature makes the best art if you just take the time to look around.  Like the frozen droplets on the tips of a Pine tree when the sun has set after a day of melting snow; or the bright Blue Jay who calls the mountains of Arizona it's home in the Winter, to the Bald Eagle soaring high in the sky on a crisp Winter morning over the almost frozen pond.  These are the moments you can find truly unexpected beauty in stillness.  I hope the next time you are out in the woods or near your favorite pond that you remember to pause for a moment and bask in the glorious art created by Mother Nature herself.

"I'm the dark in need of light, when we tough you inspire"

Monday's are an unusual day for me, as they really are just like any other day.  I rarely sleep in late and I often do the same things on the weekends as I do during the week, so really the only change for me is having to deal with traffic when Monday morning rolls around.  I know that this is probably a luxury only those of us who are home all the time have to deal with, but I have to say I don't miss the hassle that perpetually goes with Monday mornings.  However, I say this at 3:28 in the afternoon and I haven't managed to get out this post!  The photo has been done for almost two days now and yet, here I sit.  So I guess you could say, today, this Monday, I am having a start of the week imaginative slump.  Which is very odd since this ensemble has put me in such a whimsical mood, yet nothing wants to jump out of my head and onto the page!  So while I deal with my Monday let's talk about AnaMarkova Designs for a moment.  The gorgeous designs have been popping up all over the grid this Summer and perfect for the "homey" feel of Fall, an amazing new collection has been released in the store featuring a stunning Autumn palette, shape draping designs and exquisite attention to detail all at affordable prices to you!  After all being chic doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Innocence Lost

I knew taking off without a map or a clue wasn't a good idea, but it's not like I was known for my brilliance, at least not when it came to street smarts.  So when Daddy's old Buick started to chug and cough out soot colored smoke I wasn't surprised.  Who would have ever thought the bayou really got this dark long before the sun had set, I thought to myself as I trudged down the desolate dirt road.  My only solace was the dim, crimson flashing in the distance that I hoped pointed me towards civilization, or at least to a pay phone....  What I found around the next bend taught me a lesson I will never forget.

Pretty sure the details of what happened that night aren't as important as what you believe might have happened in that rundown, wood and metal clapboard shanty house.  The "For Rent" sign hanging over balcony might have intrigued me to stay, or it may have been the "Always Open" sign that beckoned me to peek around the corners.  All I know, is that night can be summed up easily with two words.... Innocence Lost!

Spring Chic

Sneak Peek opened for it's newest round on the 25th and if you haven't swung by you are truly missing out on the most fashion forward designs from some of the grids hottest creators.  Zanze has released the "Augustine" collection exclusively at the event which includes the dress and coat in a variety of colors to mix and match.

As usual the attention to detail is stunning as are the coordinating color combinations.  I love the ease of access with Zanze's delivery syste.  The HUD is where you grab your size, and then select your colors.  It is brilliant and honestly takes up a lot less space in the inventory, which is always a plus!  I love the cut of this dress and the perfectly over sized coat allowing you to still see the alluring dip of the waist and silhouette of the body.  Neither the jacket or the dress had an issue when posing or walking, making this an excellent ensemble for those of us always on the move on the grid.

The No Tell Motel

When we broke for court while the jury considered their verdict, all I wanted to do was head on out to the parking lot for a cigarette.  But, his eyes had been working me over all morning and the note in my hand said, "Meet me in the parking lot for "lunch."  The pearly white sports car pulled to a stop in front of me with its windows so dark they hid the eyes of the one inside.  Taking the pins from my hair and letting it slowly unfurl in long waves I stepped to the door, sliding into the butter leather seats with ease.  The No Tell Motel was just around the corner and apparently we had a reservation today for a long lunch.

Looking for Redemption

Vogue's New Year New Trends events doors have been open for a few days and the fantastic array of new fashion trends and exclusive designs is calling your name!  I have been absolutely blown away by the offerings from this round and just had to show off the leather from LIKE Designs and Facepalm!

I am so in love with every piece of this ensemble that I don't even know where to start, so I will just start at the top!  LIKE Designs has released the "Addie Jacket and Shirt" exclusively for this round along with these magnificent boots.  The jacket mesh is very well made with no breaking when you move, and it comes with Hide/Show feature via the HUD for the tshirt to make it very versatile, and incredibly sexy!  The HUD is, INSANE!  Really no other way to describe the HUD for the jacket and shirt, adding to its versatility, as you can mix and match until your hearts content!  Facepalm has several new and exclusive releases for the event, including this wonderfully short and sassy mini!  I love the detailing on the front and the skirt fits very well without cutting into the backs of the legs as you walk.  Both items are a must for your wardrobe for 2015, and if you are in need of a new pair of sexy, stiletto boots then look no further!

The High Tie boots for Slink High feet are stunning!  From the mesh to this HUD, these boots are just perfect!  Every part of the boot can be changed to mix and match with some of your most daring ensembles for 2015.  These boots are ONLY available at Vogue's New Year New Trends, so make sure to save some time and head on over before the doors close on February 4th!  Notice the HUD for the jacket is pictured above as well, giving you a clear picture of how amazing the boots truly are, and that they are a MUST in your 2015 wardrobe.

Have to give a little shout out to Rwah and the group of artists and builders over at Square Pegs in Round Holes.  The newest build over on the SIM is "The Lost Town", and around every corner, or through every doorway a new treasure awaits.  Take some time and head on over and wander around taking in the wonderful atmosphere and grab some pics while you are there, but of course you will, it just begs you to stay, relax, unwind and get lost!

Entwined in Vintage and Cool

In the last couple of days a new and exciting hair store has opened up on the grid, Entwined, and everyone should really run on over, join the group, grab the free gift and then do a little shopping!  I just had to show off one of the hairs I picked up along with this gorgeous little dress by KL currently at Vintage and Cool!  If you love retro fashions, from all kinds of different eras, then this is THE event for you!  I went expecting to not find much I liked, and well....my bedroom is an absolute mess with boxes and bags thrown everywhere!

Dressed to Kill

I am not usually one to run off to a new event for something, but the After 6 Days new event, Mix n Match intrigued me enough that I headed off to see all the goodies.  One of the aspects that got my attention was the special promotion available where you purchase an item on sale at the event and in that, comes a HUD that you wear and get a discount at the mainstore of 50% off a coordinating item.  Sound a bit confusing?  It really isn't, buy what you want at the event, and then head to the stores for a half price item.  Which, by the way, is exactly what I did with the Golden Queen Chess set from Pure Poison.  This fantastic handbag is only 100L at the event and the amazing shoes, are 100L after the discount!  I love a good deal any day, and this is my pick of the week!

I absolutely love the details on the purse and shoes!  The heel on the shoes is quite unique and Pure Poison did a great job on all the details for the set.  While picking up the shoes, I decided to look around the store and see if I could find a "little black dress" perfect for the occasion and I was delighted to find exactly what I was looking for!  The mesh on this dress fits wonderfully with zero adjustments to my normally curvacious shape, which is always a plus in my book!  Once I had those pieces all together, I knew too many accessories would junk up the outfit, so I picked just a couple of my favorites to add just the right bit of sass, from Zenith, Modern Couture and Maxi Gossamer.

Fashion For Life Boho Style

After weeks of internet issues, and days of none at all, I had to jump on and make sure that everyone has gone and done some shopping, and contributed to a good cause!  The Fashion For Life, Relay for Life event is still going on now, and I was absolutely amazed at everything available.  From discounts, to gachas, to exclusives; with at least 15% of the proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society. I went by and picked up a few things last week when my net wasn't spitting and sputtering and I have been excited to share them with you!  This is the first in a series of posts that will feature content available at FFL while the doors are still open!

Stars Fashion has a variety of outfits up for sale at the event, and the majority of them include Slink shoes and jewelry!  Which of course, is a wonderful surprise!  This is a top and skirt combo, which means you can't wear them with anything else but, with as well as this skirt and top go together, I don't see a need!  The fit is perfect, however, the alpha is cut very precisely, which means, you do need a pair of panties to cover those pink parts!  Matched up with some of my favorite finds from last months events and from The Arcade, this is a perfect summer outfit, and I actually don't have any buyers remorse since I know my Linden were well spent, for a worthy cause!  Hurry on over before you lose out on some fantastic pieces for a great cause!

Orage's Sparkling Sea

KV Fashion Month started this last week, and I have to say I was incredibly impressed with the number of exclusives offered in their three different areas at the event.  The main area, Shopping Way has over 60 discounted and exclusive pieces; Pret-a-Porte (ready to wear) features 42 exclusives and the Haute Couture section has 17 to offer.  Needless to say, there are quite a few items at this event you will not find anywhere else. 

One of the very first things that caught my eye finds its home out on the shopping way.  Orage presents this entire outfit, top, pants, watch and ear cuff for an amazing price and I was quite pleased with the fit of this.  Both pieces fit quite well, despite having to take my legs down to toothpicks!  The way it flows, makes the legs seem of normal proportions and that made me very happy.  Perfect for those beach nights, or lounging around with friends, this outfit makes a wonderful edition to my summer wardrobe.  Pure Poison released an absolutely stunning set of flat sandals for Slink feet last month and I finally found the perfect outfit to show them off!  The seahorse is exquisitely detailed and they fit and lay perfectly on Slinks flat feet.  Run on down to the store and grab yours, while there join the group and take advantage of the fantastic array of gifts available!  I am in love with these rings from Yummy @ The Arcade right now, and plan on heading back to get more!  Happy shopping and good luck finding just a few things to spend your Linden on at either the KV Fashion Month event or The Arcade!
