It's going to be a long hot summer with sun, sex and the sea!

Say you won't let go - Featuring Marquesse, Powder Pack, SlackGirl, Pink Fuel, Izzie's

Lately I have been starting to walk/hike again and it seems that everyday I want to be outside more and more, making my journeys longer, which has me feeling better than I have in months. Whether a short walk after dinner, or a few miles in the morning or a weekend adventure, I have been enjoying Spring as it starts to blanket the mountains of Arizona. While the mountains are still crowned in snow, down below the trees are in bloom and wild flowers are starting to peek their heads above the soil, and it is a perfect time to be out and about. The desire for fluffy green grass and flowers has translated to a complete transformation of my land, including a completely empty home, since it seems I have no desire to be inside on SL as well as in my RL, but it does happen to give me a space to take photos, and that makes me quite happy! As I was unpacking my newest goodies I came across this adorable new dress from [Marquesse] for Fashion Dazzle, with the wonderfully constructed and textured Butterfly heels, the ensemble is perfect for those Spring days out on the grid.

One of the things I love the most about makeup on Second Life is the fact that it can change your appearance by so much, that if you have a wide variety, you rarely need more than a couple skins. Today is a perfect example! I have been raving about the Powder Pack, LeLutka addition and this post will be no different. SlackGirl has three new releases for the pack and I am completely in LOVE with each one, including the Smokelady shadow I am wearing here. Spring Chic in Petit Chat and Ashmoot!

(This post was originally written on Monday, but due to a bit of an infection after oral surgery, I was unable to get it posted until today!)

I woke up this morning and while there was still sleep in my eyes I noticed a post from Powder Pack announcing the winners of their recent contest on Facebook. I immediately went to share the post, happy for those who had won, when I thought I recognized a name, MINE!! To say I was one very happy girl is the understatement of a lifetime. I used to think a "Men Working" sign was a good thing in the bedroom

I remember back in high school and my early college years joking about stealing one of those highway road work signs that says, "Men Working" and hanging it over my bed. It used to amuse the hell out of me, and to this day, still kind of does in that juvenile sort of way. That feeling changed yesterday however, as the men of my home had to tear up the carpet and padding to see what was wrong with the floor, since it was starting to collapse; only to discover a cracked floor support piece. Which means, I need a "Men Working" sign this weekend to remind me to avoid the extremely large hole in the bedroom floor that just happens to be on my side of the room on the way to the bathroom. Being the fix-it man he is, the boyfriend thinks it is going to be an easy fix, so as I sit hear and type they are off to Home Depot to get the materials needed to repair the beam and the enormous hole that had to be cut. I am hoping I don't need any more orange cones with reflective tape tonight and that I can once again dance around our bedroom between the shadows and the light.

As most of you know, one of the reasons I love being a part of WE LOVE TO BLOG, is that I get introduced to designers I might normally come across, as they start off their careers on SL. The perfect time of year to go get lost for a bit, but always have your escape route planned!

So my best friend might kill me for this post, but after wandering around on the grid yesterday and getting lost, I find myself thinking of her and her adventures into the wilderness alone. Now, if you have ever had a chance to witness a conversation between the two of us, or if you have read about any of our adventures, then you know the two of us can get into some interesting predicaments together and when apart, hers have a tendency to get much more off the beaten path. This past Sunday she set off, for the second time in the last couple of months, to tackle the largest loop on the San Francisco peaks which climbs several thousand feet in elevation, covers about 30 miles, which is kind of funny, when you think about the fact, she thought it was only 20. But being Kelly, she of course sets off on these treks all by herself with very little food, plenty of water she rarely drinks and of course a couple pairs of socks (since we watched the snow fall on the top of the mountain the night before), her phone with navigation and her rather adventurous spirit. Now I mentioned this was the second time, and I probably should say the socks were added after the first trip since she didn't expect to be in thigh high deep snow as she attempted to stay on trail, hopping log to log hoping she was heading in the correct direction, since the only other tracks that day had turned around and gone back several miles before the snow actually got deep on the backside of the mountain. I remember the sound of her teeth chattering when she reached the 3/4 mark the first time she attempted the trail, and I told her to stay put so I could come and get her, since at least she was some place I could FIND her at this point. Did I mention my boyfriend and I had been worrying about her for hours and trying to call since she was hours later than expected? Needless to say, when she told us this past Saturday that she was going to hike the mountain, and finish it this time, we were a little doubtful, but they made plans to meet at the lower trail head so he could do the last 7 miles, as first calculated, with her and then come back to the house for a BBQ. She happens to go up the mountain like a Billy Goat and sometimes skips or runs down the trails, so when it was starting to get later into the afternoon we began to wonder what had happened this time, and at first the jokes start to come, and then true worry starts to set in. When my phone went off around 2:30pm with her saying "Hi," and I noticed it was actually sent a couple hours before I figured she had made it to where they were supposed to meet and we just hadn't gotten her message from the top of the mountain. Then the text came in saying, "My knee went out, just got to the trail head." So as she argued back and forth that she was "fine" I finished up what I was doing, texted the boyfriend, who responded with a simple "LOL" and headed off to get her hoping it was just a bit of a tweeked knee, not a major injury. If she wasn't in as good of shape as she is, it probably would have been more of an issue, or if she hadn't had an exit plan. So the moral to the story is this, go ahead and forge your path off into the wilderness but make sure you have an idea of how to get home, or at least a back up plan, like a best friend who happens to be ready to come get you no matter where you have run off to this time!

The time of year that makes me think of home

Around this time of year, every year, I tend to get a bit nostalgic for where I grew up. The bonfires on the weekends with the suns rays warming you through the day and a slight chill in the air as the sun sleeps for the evening, making it perfect sweatshirt and jeans weather. Though I migrated West into the desert, most people forget there are huge mountains out here, with trees that change colors, lose their leaves and SNOW! As I drive the boys to school in the morning I am stunned by the amazing colors showing up on the mountain as the trees are well into their fabulous Fall display, all seeming to try to out due the other. But there will always be something missing here where I have made my roots, and I think maybe, for everyone, no matter where you are, it's never quite like home. I love being able to wear the same things I have all Summer with a sweater added on top, or a pair of leggings on underneath. It's the perfect time of year for layers, and if you don't like to dress that way, you will learn, because it's the only way to get through a whole day in Northern Arizona because the weather tends to change very rapidly this time of year. The peaks have already had a dusting of snow, the wood has been split and stacked for the Winter and the flowers are making their last dying effort to provide a little brightness before the bleakness of Winter comes. No matter where I go, from October to November, I will always miss those Missouri Autumn evenings, growing up in the Boondocks.

"Don't be afraid, take the road less traveled on." - Lauren Aliana

I have never been one to run with the "in" crowd, just because of who they were. I might have ended up on the fringes due to having friends in those groups, but my friends have always been a very eclectic group of people. One of the things I have noticed about the majority of those I call friend, is that they never took the path others did, they forged their own way, and took the roads less traveled on, which makes my little rebel heart happy. As I was wandering around today trying to find a spot to take pictures I realized that even on SL I never take the main road. I always seem to just head off in one direction or another, through trees, and water, sometimes falling under a SIM, but off the path, in those more hidden places, you often find the hidden gems. I think that applies to all areas of our lives, to be honest. Too many people have gone the same direction, followed the exact same path, because someone told them that is how to get there, when in reality, there are a thousand different roads that lead to the same place, you just have to find the perfect one for you! So, "trust your rebel heart, ride it into battle; don't be afraid, take the road less traveled."

I have gotten so far behind this month with everything going on, that I am playing catch-up and I truly hate that, because I don't want to rush through a post and not give the proper attention to the creators. Writing the next chapter

I think one of the hardest things to do in life is to move on; to be able to turn the page on where we are and continue with the story. When we are down and out, with little or no hope in sight it's easy to move on to the next chapter of our lives, but when things are going great and we are on top of the world, the last thing we want to do is shut the book, douse the light and say goodbye, no one does. But I have always loved the surprises, no matter if they are good or bad, I simply enjoy the unexpected twists and turns, the plot twists, because they always add a bit of excitement to the adventure; the kind of excited you get on a roller coaster, where fear and elation run hand and hand together laughing maniacally. As life would have it, my recent ride on cloud nine has been suddenly darkened by a health crisis of pretty epic proportions and I find myself turning to Seline Shenoy's blog, The Dream Catcher. I have been a follower of hers for quite some time now, and when I find myself wanting to simply lay my book open on the end table with the last sentence of the chapter unread, or flipping through pages trying to skip to the last line, overly ready to see what happens next, I click her blog and once again remind myself of how to move on to the next chapter in my life. Do yourself a favor and take a trip by her blog and do a little reading, I have a feeling you will stay awhile.

The Book of Daniel event opened on the 10th and runs through the 20th to help benefit Daniel Estro of Zerkalo. Here is the information provided on the Facebook page for the event.

Daniel Estro, 29 years old, (co-owner of Zerkalo, Shiny Shabby and The Crossroads) has cancer and desperately needs our help. The fight for his life began when doctors discovered a malignant tumor in his brain, about 7 centimeters in diameter. Daniel underwent life-threatening surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery went well. However, several weeks later what was left of the tumor spread throughout his brain and started affecting his brain function.. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy as well as radiotherapy. He is fighting as hard as he can to survive but as many of you might know, fighting cancer is very expensive. We have been trying our absolute best to help them financially and we still are. But we need your help. We are doing everything humanly possible and it’s just not enough. We need your help.

Please help us save him. If you find the kindness in your heart to help, you will be saving not one life but two. His RL/SL wife, Anais, is 28 years old and Daniel is all she has. Zerkalo was their only source of income and Anais is unable to work without Daniel because he was the brand’s designer and mesh creator. They are so young and in love. They are two pieces of one whole, they give meaning to each other's stories, and one cannot exist without the other. Please help us support these wonderful people in every way that we can. They could have their whole lives ahead of them, and it’s up to us whether they do or not. Even the smallest bit of help will make an enormous difference, so please remember what you do will help save two beautiful lives.

We know that to you they might be strangers or just someone you have seen from afar here and there, but just like you and I, they are two real people facing very difficult obstacles, and needing all the help in the world.

Help today, for tomorrow you might be the one who needs it!

With the move going on, I still managed to run over to the event to check things out and trust me, you will be amazed at all the fantastic offerings from so many of the grids top designers and your Lindens will be flying out of your wallet, but you get to feel good about it this time! I absolutely adore this sweater dress from *COCO* available at the event with it's chic high necked, high hemline design, very reminiscent of the 1960's, which means I just HAD to add it to my closet! I was doubly excited when I realized the dress went perfectly with Petit Chat's Beaded Sandals, also an exclusive to The Book of Daniel event! The shoes are available in a wide variety of colors with a bunch of options to change parts of the shoe as well, making them very versatile, making them a MUST have for your closet! Hurry on over, you only have a couple of days left, and I have a feeling you will be kicking yourself in the ass if you miss this chance to help out one of our own and pick up wonderful items at the same time!

Late night romance ruined by an inquisitive canine and an irritated skunk.

This weekend goes up on the list of one of our slowest, most relaxing, and randomly romantic couple of days on record, but to be honest, I wouldn't change a moment, well, maybe just one. Last night the boys headed to bed a bit early after we watched a movie and my man and I had some time together to just sit and talk about the weekend, and enjoy our time together. During the movie we had a guest outside, that one of the dogs alerted us to, so we secured the top on the garbage can and went back to our movie, not really giving the incident much thought. As we were wrapping up the night, and thinking about heading to bed, of course we let the big dog(since the little one had already been out) out in the yard by herself, and she immediately ran to the shed she chases rabbits around daily. The scurrying sound we heard from across the yard through the barn made us look at each other with eyes wide, since it sounded almost as big as the dog, and suddenly our early, relaxing night together was ruined by a green cloud floating over the dog as she came running at us foaming at the mouth and in the distance the beautiful, black and white tail of a skunk could be seen disappearing into the night, quite pleased with itself, I'm sure. One of the teenagers managed to sleep through the entire ordeal while the other one ended up half in the tub with the vinegar, Dawn dish soap and one very upset canine. As usual, when afraid, she came straight to Mommy, which means, I ended up covered almost as much as she did, and I think my boyfriend considered having us both sleep out in the shed. Lucky for me I have been through this once before, and the above combination works, along with a vigorous rub down with baking soda after the bath. But don't expect them to be on the furniture any time soon, or even in the house, because that is definitely a smell that keeps on giving long after the event!

Buena Buena

I know everyone has been waiting for Rock Attitude Fashion Fair to open and now that the doors have swung wide the sim is PACKED with people heading on over to check out the new and exclusive releases for some of the hottest and edgiest designers on the grid. And of course, what "rock" event would be complete without Heydra!

The fantastic "Kitty" dress comes in 4 pattern selections but my favorite is the "Pink Zebra." I love the mesh of this dress! The cleavage revealing zipper top with hoodie and the daringly short hemline makes this a perfect addition to every wardrobe, not just the "rock" fiends on the grid. 2015 Chic

I hope everyone had a wonderfully wicked New Years and that you all stayed safe! It was a wintery, cold and snowy New Years Eve up here in the high country of Arizona so stayed home and had a little get together with friends, which was a perfect way to ring in the new year! After taking a little bit of time off to see friends and family I am back for my first post of the year!

Sneak Peek opened up on Christmas Day and will close its doors on the 5th, which means you don't have much shopping time left! The Wild One

I am feeling a bit fierce tonight in this fantastic new release from Lush by CoCo currently at The Designer Showcase. The Furry Vest comes in 4 different textures and is ONLY 150L right now! The fit on the vest is perfect, and runs a little big which it is always nice to wiggle into a smaller size, now isn't it ladies?! I paired it up with the Silk Leggings from LRD's "Gossip" release currently at Sneak Peek because I just loved the look! And who wouldn't feel a bit fierce in Belleza's newest release, "Eva" at Uber. The selection of makeups to choose from almost made me go for the Fatpack for this skin, but unfortunately my Linden amount would not. So I picked up my favorite and I am a very happy girl!
