Those of you who have been following along for the past few months know that my health has once again taken an unexpected turn, causing me to blog less and to have to take more time away for appointments and to just rest.  With a heavy heart I have decided to step away from the blogging I love so much to concentrate on my health for a while.  We still don't have internet at the house and I just don't have the energy right now to make the commute into town to work on my blog.  In the past I would have felt terribly about having to take this break, but I have been following a pretty amazing woman for the past 6 months and she has taught me it's ok to take a step back and away for a bit to recharge my batteries.  From time to time I am sure I will get stir crazy and will come in just so I can see the new goodies created on the grid and to just check in with my readers.  Knowing I won't be blogging, I put together a space I can relax and unwind in when I decide to come into town using goodies from Bee Designs and Ariskea, so come inside and grab a cup of tea with me and let's talk about what the future holds!

The time of the year when a perfect cup of hot cocoa hits the spot.

I started this post one way this morning, and now by early afternoon my mood has completely changed and I decided to talk about something else entirely!  I know the rest of the country has already had snow, and it's starting to feel a bit like Winter for you all, but here in the mountains of Arizona we still hover almost ten degrees above normal and our mountains, that stand over twelve thousand feet in elevation, are barren of snow.  This is the strangest and warmest I can remember it being here in Flagstaff in the last fifteen years, and I am starting to worry about what happens this Summer when fire season hits and we have had no snow to drench the thirst of the trees and grasses that have grown out of control.  Until then I am praying for snow here in the high country, even though I am heading to the warmer climate down in Phoenix with the family, I would still love to see snow when we return!  Every night as we make a fire I think about having a cup of hot chocolate and sitting down to relax, and you can bet I will be hovering near a table like this at the other half's annual Christmas party, because after all, it is the perfect time of year for a cup of hot chocolate!

This week has literally been FILLED with doctor's appointments for myself and for the kids, which means I have put over 200 miles on the car in 4 days and I feel like I haven't had a moment to sit and breathe! But yesterday brought great news in regards to my health, so that is a huge weight off the whole family's shoulders and now we can focus on the medical issues going on with the oldest boy. Having to go through all kinds of tests at 19 was not my wish for my child, and I am very worried because it was at the exact same age that my autoimmune issues reared their ugly head. Lots of blood tests, more heart tests and lots of shaken nerves and long nights has been the theme of our Fall. So with fingers crossed, positive thoughts and lots of cozy nights with the family planned for the next couple of weeks, is how we deal with this new hurdle. With that in mind, I started thinking about picking up a sign for the house, with a quote about family and I found the perfect quote, now just to find the sign or make it myself! The boys would LOVE that project on top of the floor next weekend! LOL

Home is where LOVE resides,

Friends are always WELCOME,

and FAMILY is forever.

For years now I have been thankful that I didn't have a girl to try and raise in this world with all the fat shaming and body hating that seems to enter into every facet of our lives. I have been thin, I have been heavy, I have been fit and I have been somewhere in the middle, and it didn't matter the size, the problems with my body were always there; and the more I hated the body I was in, the more it revolted against me and the more I hated it. One day I made a choice to change everything about my life, including what I said in the mirror, because I learned I had to love myself first and foremost. You have to look in the mirror and tell it who is the fairest of them all, YOU!

Snow White is the theme for the newest round of Enchantment, which runs through the end of the month, and as I am sure you can imagine, there are all kinds of wonderful goodies for you to peruse! Recently I decided to start over from scratch on my land and bought a new house and new outdoor landscaping, however the house has been sitting empty and I honestly didn't even know where to begin. I have so many beloved pieces and new things I have picked up over the last six months, and part of me wants to start over with all new things, but I can't see that happening since I happen to have certain pieces I can't live without. Those wonderfully long Arabian Nights - Featuring Bee Designs @ Enchantment

If you are all like me, the moment I hear the words "Arabian Nights", Robin Williams is suddenly singing in my head and I am once again caught up in the magic of Aladdin. It's not uncommon for me to randomly break out in song lyrics when situations or words come up, so I was not surprised by the Aladdin moment but tried to quickly move on, because, well, there is nothing Disneylike about this gorgeous new bedroom set from Bee Designs! A perfect spot to relax for a Bohemian like me! - Zen Creations, Six o'clock!, unKindness, junk, Scarlet Creative

As most of you know I recently cut down my number of sponsors because there are only so many hours in a day and with me still without internet at home, I just can't seem to keep up.  Without the pressure I felt a bit of freedom and actually had time to do a little shopping just for me, and to decorate my home, which has been standing empty since the first day of Spring.  I wouldn't have been decorating however, if I hadn't stumbled upon this amazing collection from Zen Creations that was at the last round of Cosmopolitan.

The Kaleidoscope Set comes in PG and Adult versions, all for one price, which I absolutely loved, because as anyone who has shopped for furniture knows, the Adult sets can quite often become quite pricey.  The set comes as one linked piece when you rez it, but then each piece can be moved to where you like it!  The entire design of this set is fantastic with the colors and patterns playing perfectly off of each other, making the penultimate Bohemian retreat!  The textures are exquisite and the wonderful attention to detail is reflected in the continuous flow between objects of the scene.  I love the pillows and candles that can be moved inside the cabinet, and the doors can also be closed so the accessories within can be used to accessorize your scene, so do your Bohemian heart some good and go grab this collection, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Welcome to the Coven, enjoy your first tea party! Featuring LiViD

It has been over a year now since I have blogged anything from LiViD, and whether that has been unconsciously on purpose, of if I have just missed the deliveries with my absences, I don't know.  But for the year prior to that, almost every post I did for LiViD I did in combination with one of the most amazing women to ever walk this planet.  Last April she left this world which was filled with pain and illness for her, and entered the world of angels, which is appropriate, since that was her name.  When I saw the delivery at the end of last week from LiViD I actually smiled and got excited about doing a post with my friend on my mind.  I could hear her in my ear as I decorated this scene, "put this there", "that looks stupid woman, move that thing," and instead of feeling the intense sense of loss that has accompanied my thoughts of her over the year, I was smiling and blew a kiss to the heavens, it was refreshing, to say the least.  Grief is a fickle flower in my opinion, because it often jumps up to bite you at the most unexpected times, and it isn't until a moment like this that you realize you have moved past the grief to a better place.  I miss her terribly and every day she is on my mind but it no longer paralyzes me, and I hope those who shared her light are starting to feel the same way.  And to celebrate that, let's have a tea party with your local witches or the Coven next door.

A quiet space - unKindness, Ariskea, Serenity Style, Bee Designs, The Crossroads, The Liaison Collaborative, Collabor88

I recently made a new friend via Facebook, who happens to also be on Second Life, and I have come to realize that after so many years online, I am awkward and jaded when it comes to new people.  Now granted I have always been a bit jaded, thus my name, but it wasn't until the past couple of weeks that I have come to realize I have serious trust issues with anyone new.  I think anyone who has spent an extended time online can tell you horror stories of people they have met, or have heard about, and trust me I have a whole long list of tales to tell, but they seem to have become redundant and I am not one to dwell in the past.  Four years ago when I became a permanent resident of SL, instead of just a passive user, I realized the community is much different than others I had been involved with before, and I was quite pleased.  I won't mention the other 3D chat program I was a part of, but every day brought new drama and no one looked out for each other or helped.  If you were a creator you were on your own and had to teach yourself everything, because no one was going to help you get ahead.  It was exhausting and incredibly stressful.  I used to be a creator of 3D goods on that other chat site, and still make money there but my blogging life on Second Life has been much more rewarding, and maybe someday I will expand into creating.  But for now, I am content to blog and expand my social circle as I seem to spend more time alone than I do in the company of others, unless you count shopping at events!  So with that idea in mind, making new friends is part of expanding my social circle, obviously, and I see now that I have to drop a lot of what I think I know from previous sites and chill out a bit, because that is the only way I am going to discover new, exciting, creative people after all!  You will always run across those people who have nothing better to do than troll, but for the most part, the Second Life journey is a positive one full of people looking to help each other live their best life ever!  And of course, when it comes to Second Life, that means decorating your personal world with gorgeous goodies you might not be able to afford in real life!

 

I guess you could call this an event extravaganza post since almost everything pictured is either currently at an event, or was showcased in a previous event.  With me being gone three months I feel like my home and my wardrobe are already outdated so after receiving goodies from unKindness and Serenity Style I decided to head out to the events to put together an entire scene with new decor pieces from across the grid.  I have been a fan of Bee Designs for awhile now and I was delighted to see them participating in the current rounds of The Crossroads and The Liaison Collaborative, and I was quite pleased at how well they went with the new collaborative effort from unKindness and Ariskea.  The Solace Nook collection is only available at Collabor88 and comes with the intricate Nook, available in different colors, as well as a set of four candles, a chandelier, table and plant; providing everything you need to create your own private retreat away from the rest of the world.  Each piece is incredibly well designed with an amazing attention to detail, reflected by the expert texturing and continuous theme.  If you are looking for well built furniture that mixes and matches well within all kinds of decorative spaces, then make sure to check out the pieces from Bee Designs, Serenity Style, and the new collection from two amazing creators, unKindness and Ariskea!

Psst....don't bother to look for me today, I am playing hookey! - Serenity Style, unKindness, Aphrodite and CIRCA

Do you ever have those days where you would much rather runaway with your friends than do work?  Today is one of those days for me and I am having the hardest time getting motivated to work!  I have been gone so long that I have missed months of my friends lives and all I want to do is invite everyone over to just sit down and chat for awhile around a fire, on my newly decorated land on SL.  I think my landlord was beginning to pray for my return so she could take down the blockade of wintry trees from in front of my land, since I was still stuck in Winter while the rest of the sim was in bloom.  Yesterday and today I remedied that situation and finally put down a new house and decorated for Spring.  I knew Aphrodite had sent me a wonderful package of flowering trees, released for Valentine's Day, that would work perfectly in this newly decorated space.  And since I happened to be in the decorating mood at that point I decided to remove myself from the equation and show off some wonderful new releases for your home from unKindness, Serenity Style, Aphrodite and CIRCA. 

The current round of The Liaison Collaborative is called "Romantic Metal" and I have been delighted with the releases from unKindness and Serenity Style.  "A Love Touch Collection" from Serenity Style has four pieces and they can be bought individually or as a Fatpack.  I love the vintage feel of this collection which always fits well into my life, so I can guarantee pieces will be finding their way into other rooms in my home.  So far this year signs have dominated the decor market and you will not be disappointed with the ones offered at the event from unKindness.  I am featuring three of the signs available at the event, but you will find flowers as well as words, and each comes in several different colors, so you are sure to find the perfect ones to accompany your decor.  

I happen to have a wood burning stove at home and I love it.  It isn't our only heat source, but the heater only comes on if we aren't home to make a fire.  When I saw this gorgeous piece at FaMESHed from Dutchie I just knew I had to have it in my home.  When I got home and realized there were poses and cuddles with it I got even more excited!  Everyone needs one of these so hurry to the event before it ends, you won't be disappointed, especially if you are still having very Wintry days and nights like we are in the mountains of Arizona.  

I am a little late for Valentine's Day, but if you follow my blog then you know any day of the year is Valentine's Day in the right relationship, which means these gorgeous new roses from Aphrodite need to be a part of your life.  The vases also come with accompanying hand held bouquets in each of the colors, and I promise you will be amazed at the life like quality of the flowers, I could almost smell their scent drifting through my home.

When Second Life and Real Life Collide

For the first time in all my years online I have a real life boyfriend who happens to be incredibly supportive of what I do, which I am truly thankful for but lately, with it being Summer, my posts find me with far less clothes on than normal and today I had, in my opinion, a rather amusing conversation.  As I sat down to do my post for the day, I showed him the photos I had already set up and asked his opinion on which one I should do first.  I chose to do a furniture post, but in the grouping of photos happens to be another bikini and tattoos picture.  Out of the mouth of my oh so supportive man suddenly came the following, "Why do you have to wear so little in what seems like ALL your posts?  Do you always have to be half naked?"  To which I responded with a few minutes of hysterical laughter, but the look on his face said he wasn't really kidding.  I had to take a step back for a moment and consider his position on the matter, and I still find it amusing.  Now maybe this is because I see "Jade" as an entity outside myself, a character I have created who happens to resemble me a tiny bit in my younger years, and who happens to share my personality simply because I have chosen to just be me, not a persona online; or maybe it's simply because I have been online for so many years and have gotten desensitized to what I do, I'm really not sure, but I have a hard time taking him seriously.  And I don't want to belittle his feelings on the matter, I am truly trying to see his point of view, but on this I think we will end up having to agree to disagree.  Being a blogger is different than just running around the grid half naked and role playing with people in say strip clubs or music venues, etc, there is rarely an exchange between people unless you happen to be doing a couples pose or something along those lines, so I don't think it crosses any real or imagined relationship boundaries.  But if my partner does, how far do I bend in my work to keep him from feeling the way he is at the moment?  I am a firm believer in bending in relationships, as it allows each person to still have what they want, to a certain extent and one person doesn't feel like they are always compromising while the other stands steadfast in their resolve.  So I went through my blog and my photos and showed him that I very rarely tiptoe into waters that make my blog have more than a PG-13 rating, and he was much happier.  I have a feeling he thought my blog was bordering on too risque for him, and with us both having an online presence, just in different ways, he felt that would be crossing a bit of a boundary for him.  And when you are in love, if your partner feels like a boundary could be crossed or has been crossed in their eyes, then you have inflicted damage that will take a long time to heal.  But if you discuss those moments rationally when you don't see eye to eye it's amazing how much you discover about each other, because no one loves the same, which is why love is so intricately and infinitely beautiful.

I very rarely go nuts over a gacha, ok, I lie, but seriously, there aren't that many I will play until I have all the pieces, and Foxes Traveling Heart gacha currently at The Epiphany saw me playing until I had everything, then I went home, unpacked all my extras, got my points and scampered on back to pick up the exclusive.  Which is now set up on the back part of my property because I absolutely adore every piece, and I love how well they mix with some of my other well loved boho pieces, including the new pillows from unKindness that you can pick up at the current round of Shiny Shabby.

Taking a break from the winds of change to remind myself to breathe

For those of you who have been following my blog for a bit, you know I HATE change in any form, whether for good or bad.  I am like a dog that hates to be walked on a leash; ass end down with claws digging into the ground refusing to be moved.  Recently, however, I have had to be like a Weeping Willow blowing in the winds of change, reminding myself to breathe and allow myself to be swept away.  In case you haven't been following along, the last few months have brought about a new relationship, that I also gained another teenage boy with, a brand-new computer, and as of last night, the boyfriend and I bought a new vehicle!  Which in the grand scheme of things, as I look forward to my future, is HUGE!  Granted, it isn't brand new, and actually it's 14 years old, but we stumbled into one of those finds of a lifetime; a 2002 Yukon that has been used by an 80+ year old woman to get groceries for the last 14 years and then parked in a garage and out of the hot Arizona sun.  It was never our intention to get something that old, or in fact, another SUV, but with the incredibly low mileage, near mint condition inside and outside and the smoking good deal we were offered, we couldn't pass it up.  But after 6 hours at and around the dealership looking at all kinds of vehicles and then not being able to sleep until the wee hours of the morning because of that high you get after purchasing something like that, my body and my mind needed a break.

I realized as I sat down again in this chair today in a tucked away corner of my home I hadn't once taken time out of my day to just breathe.  That is usually the first thing out of my mouth to friends when they are stressed or going to fast, "Remember to breathe."  Now that seems like a stupid comment I know, but think about it for a moment.  When we are going nonstop, and the stress level is bordering on critical we rarely stop and concentrate on our breathing.  In fact, most of the time people's breathing gets more shallow and rapid, making your blood pressure rise which just adds to the issues, so it's important to take just a few beats of your heart and concentrate on ten long, deep breaths.  I took my own advice finally, after the work space cleared this afternoon and I feel incredibly better.  It doesn't take away the stressors, but it does remind you to slow down, even for a moment, which is sometimes all we need when the kettle is about to boil over.  I also am a big fan of retail therapy, and most often with me, that comes in the form of extravagant and nonsensical shoes, in SL and RL.  Rayne had the perfect ones for my mood this weekend and you just have to go pick yourself up a pair or two, or maybe all of them!  The shoes are exclusively available at the Stuff Style Sales Room, a monthly event brought to you by the creators of Womenstuff, Menstuff, and HomeStuff which runs until the 28th, so hurry on over before the goodies head out!

For many years now I have firmly believed that love is an ever elusive creature, hard to catch and even harder to keep.  Once upon a time I had my fairy tale wedding with lofty dreams of a beautiful forever that was crushed by the darkness of abuse.  Though I have been in a couple of relationships since, I never got married again and in some ways I don't think I ever will, in the traditional sense of the word.  I hate the fact that the government tells me I have to have a piece of paper to declare my love for someone, and that others are denied the same right.  Love is something to be celebrated, not hidden; to stand in front of your friends, family and what ever higher power you embrace is the purest and truest way to show your love.  No piece of paper can ever take the place of a true celebration of love, no matter what the government tells people.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you know about the recent attacks in Florida and other places in the country at LGBT events, which in reality have been attacks on love.  I sit in front of my computer and read the stories and events and I am horrified that in this advanced society we live in, that people are still persecuted simply for the fact they love someone of the same sex.  In my opinion, we have much bigger problems in this country to be worried about than love.  Because in the end that is what all this boils down to, the fact that love is love, no matter what form it comes in.  If you are lucky enough in this lifetime to find love, as long as it isn't with children or animals ( I do draw SOME lines people!), then celebrate it and enjoy the precious gift you have been given.  The Pulse Charity Event runs through the 12th of the month and all proceeds go to Equality Florida to support the victims and families of the Orlando shooting.  Hurry on over to the event today, you won't be disappointed and you will get a chance to feel good about spending a few Linden as well!

Somewhere along the line my Bohemian life became Hipster?

So for a few years now I have been hearing this term "hipster" and I haven't given it much thought really, why would I at my age?  That was until recently when I saw posts slipping in on some of my favorite "bohemian" feeds on different sites and I realized my style was very similar.  I don't really know how I feel about that, and I probably should do more research since for me it seems tied to a culture I am not a huge fan of, but time will tell.  I spent four hours putting this room together yesterday and I have to tell you I just fell in love with it all!  With the newest pieces from unKindness with their flair and whimsy and the fantastic creations from so many designers at the Home and Garden Expo, all with their well loved, well lived-in looks and lots of knickknacks tucked about the place....I was in heaven!  Everywhere you look there is something new and unique to find with everything pictured here found at Whimsical or at the Relay for Life Home and Garden Expo, keeping the shopping easy for you, with so many goodies to choose from!  To make sure you didn't miss anything, I have zoomed in a bit to give you a tour of my bohemian hipster life!

Every day is Valentine's in the right relationship

This post has been finished since Valentine's night but spotty net, my neck deciding to act up after spending too much time online on Valentine's and THEN someone broke Second Life when I finally was able to get around to trying to get links last night, so here it is Tuesday...  But, I have to say this fits my personal belief quite well, the right kind of relationship is like Valentine's Day every day!  For those of you who have been following my blog for a bit, you know I am a die hard romantic and I personally think the small things are like Valentine's every day.  Whether it is some cheesy gift from the local gas station that your special someone saw and was reminded of you; a fresh cut flower from the neighbors garden; or showing up with your favorite dessert as a surprise because you love late night snacks, these tiny gestures truly mean the world.  Every one of those moments means they are thinking about you, your likes, your wants, your needs, and isn't that what true love is really about?

I truly believe that every person dreams of traveling to far off places, no matter if they rest their heads on a quiet street in a tiny town no one has ever heard of, or on the busiest street in New York, Los Angeles, London, or Tokyo.  Just the idea of being somewhere new, where you gain a bit of anonymity intrigues me and even though I have traveled the world, it has been many years since I have headed off with no destination in mind, parenthood will do that to you after all.  But I still dream of places I haven't been, and of places that hold memories, and one day I hope to head out again with the sole purpose of getting lost.
