Today officially marks the start of Winter break for my son and I think I am more excited than he is, because it gives me time to myself next week to get organized and blog a bit more than I have been, as long as the internet cooperates.  The last few days we have been plagued by very high winds, blowing in a possible snow storm finally, and that has played havoc with the internet, for some reason.  Our provider would tell you that high winds cannot effect the service, but it is only during these periods of sustained high winds that we lose internet for hours on end.  So we just have to grin and bare it and hope for the best.  Luckily it has cooperated long enough today for me to get two posts out, one for fashion and one for home decor, which truly makes me happy!  Mainly because I think I am in need of some stress relief lately with all that has been going on, but with Christmas right around the corner I get a vacation here soon, which I am looking forward too more than you know.  I can picture a glass of wine in hand as I sit in the hot tub with my man chatting about what we are going to do once the last one graduates from high school in June, as the sun sets over the desert.  Romance, family, friends, food and love is what this holiday is all about this year for me, and I hope it is for you as well, because you cannot package that love is found when you are surrounded by those closest to your heart.

The last year and a half of my life has been like a topsy turvy whirlwind of strange ups and downs, weird health issues and LOVE. After being single for a very long time, and handling things on my own, no matter how hard, I have come to realize that it doesn't matter what life throws at you, it becomes easier when you have someone with which to share it. I had become a bit resigned to being single for the rest of my life and had no intention of getting into a relationship, but to be honest, it was the best decision I never made! My wonderful man and I were on the same page, and we were enjoying having someone to help make dinner for the boys and hanging out as friends when suddenly the universe jumped up with other plans for us. So it wasn't a decision for us, it just happened, and though there have been struggles we couldn't have even imagined, I know neither of us would change a thing. The love of the family we have created together and our commitment to each other, makes life just a little bit easier. All of this was to lead into the fact that I am not a Miley Cyrus fan, at least with what she puts out on the radio, until the recent release of "Malibu", and when I heard it through my speakers through Spotify, I was hooked. In one moment the last year and a half of my life was summed up in a song, and though my toes may not be wiggling in the sands of Malibu, the feeling is the same.

I haven't showcased the We Love to Blog group and it's multitude of designers in a post in a while, so when I unboxed these goodies I JUST had to put them together along with this gorgeous new release from Empyrean Forge! For the past couple of weeks it feels like I have had very little time to recharge my batteries with all the running around for the boys and I for doctors and insurance, and trying to coordinate the work on our home, which is STILL in complete disarray.  The four of us have been sharing a bathroom now since the beginning of June and we are all starting to get a bit tired of each other with all the waiting and bathroom schedule that should probably be hung on the fridge.  When I have had any time at all, I have disappeared into blog posts and music as a bit of a "calgon" escape, but in all honesty it's just not enough.  I am sure the boyfriend feels the same as all he has done is work from sun up til sun down recently with everything we have going on, and I know our minds keep returning to our vacation in June and wishing we could once again runaway for a few days.  When everything gets hectic and you don't even seem to have time to do the simplest things, you sometimes just have to MAKE the time to relax and unwind, because if you don't, the stress can become overwhelming.  So today I have had Corinne Bailey Ray playing through the speakers a bit loudly and I can feel the weight of my world finally starting to lift from my shoulders.  So do yourself a favor today, and put your records on and play your favorite tune.

Today is one of those days I absolutely despised when I was single because it made me feel a little left out I guess.  This year, though not single, I have come to discover that today is just another day if you happen to be in a relationship where you are consistently showing your significant other how you feel.  The boyfriend and I just celebrated 9 months together last week, and like all the other months before hand, we exchanged cards, had dinner and reminded each other why we fell in love in the first place.  So when the sun rose this morning on this day of love I simply said, "Good Morning," because for us, it is just another day.  I might have picked up something different for dinner tonight, and I might have picked up a card sometime earlier this month just because I liked what it had to say, but for the most part Valentine's Day is every day in my life, and it should be for you too.  No one should ever have to worry about where they stand in a relationship, they should know every day by the gestures that are made.  Whether it's simply walking around to open the car door for you when going out for groceries, or picking up your favorite soda when your stomach is upset, or getting up early to take the car into the shop so you don't have to.  These are the simply things, the little things that matter the most, not some grand gesture thought of at the last minute because someone reminded you it's Valentine's Day.  If you truly love the one you are with, then show them that for you, every day is Valentine's Day because you are blessed to have them in your life.

Happy November!

Not sure about the rest of you but I am so glad Halloween has come and gone and that I can finally begin to focus on the upcoming holidays.  It's like Halloween marks that point you pack up the Summer apparel and pull the sweater boxes out from under the bed and start to dig through the closets to find your boots.  I think it is an unconscious attempt to hold onto Summer a bit longer before giving into the shorter days and surrendering to the long cold Winter.  I find it a tad peculiar that I seem to love colors in the bleak, cold days of Winter in the mountains and I happen to wear a lot less black than normal, which shocks most people since as far as I am concerned black is a full wardrobe.  But the jeweled tones of the holidays are my favorites and you can always count on me to brighten up whatever occasion I have happened out too, and TASHI has captured this perfectly with the new Chelsy release for the round of FAD which ends SOON, so make sure you head on over and pick up wonderful designs with the month of November and the deep Fall in mind!
