Those of you who have been following along for the past few months know that my health has once again taken an unexpected turn, causing me to blog less and to have to take more time away for appointments and to just rest. With a heavy heart I have decided to step away from the blogging I love so much to concentrate on my health for a while. We still don't have internet at the house and I just don't have the energy right now to make the commute into town to work on my blog. In the past I would have felt terribly about having to take this break, but I have been following a pretty amazing woman for the past 6 months and she has taught me it's ok to take a step back and away for a bit to recharge my batteries. From time to time I am sure I will get stir crazy and will come in just so I can see the new goodies created on the grid and to just check in with my readers. Knowing I won't be blogging, I put together a space I can relax and unwind in when I decide to come into town using goodies from Bee Designs and Ariskea, so come inside and grab a cup of tea with me and let's talk about what the future holds!

Tomorrow is the last night of 2017 and I hope everyone has safe and fun plans in the mix! In the days before I left for my little Christmas getaway I took this photo and had it all edited and ready to post when life jumped up and got in the way and I was unable to share it with you all. Since my return I have been dealing with health issues that have me feeling rundown and just blah! Today I decided to try and brighten my mood by coming into town so I could share this fabulous little scene with you all while the spirit of the holidays still fills the air.
It took me a few months to get into the boxes on Second Life that you can get for different things, and though I have tried a few at this point, I only have two continuous subscriptions at this point, including De(c)ocrate. December's box was chock full of goodies for the Winter and they all happen to mix and match quite well with the Holiday Advent Calendar from CIRCA. So if any one was paying attention to my post at the end of last week, then you know I was looking forward to a week of getting organized for work and of doing a bit of catch up on my blogging. Well as we all know, as soon as you make plans, life happens. I have been putting on a bit of a brave face of late as I have had to ween myself off of my nerve medication, per physician instruction, since I have developed a life threatening allergy to it. If there was one medication I would tell people I couldn't live without, it would have been that one, so I have been getting to know that pain again and it has thrown me for a loop and kept me from being able to come into town to my computer. It has been years now since I have had to feel the fire of nerve pain through my body, but I am finding a new strength in looking for alternative treatments and empowering myself and once again calling pain my constant companion, my muse, but never my friend.

Today officially marks the start of Winter break for my son and I think I am more excited than he is, because it gives me time to myself next week to get organized and blog a bit more than I have been, as long as the internet cooperates. The last few days we have been plagued by very high winds, blowing in a possible snow storm finally, and that has played havoc with the internet, for some reason. Our provider would tell you that high winds cannot effect the service, but it is only during these periods of sustained high winds that we lose internet for hours on end. So we just have to grin and bare it and hope for the best. Luckily it has cooperated long enough today for me to get two posts out, one for fashion and one for home decor, which truly makes me happy! Mainly because I think I am in need of some stress relief lately with all that has been going on, but with Christmas right around the corner I get a vacation here soon, which I am looking forward too more than you know. I can picture a glass of wine in hand as I sit in the hot tub with my man chatting about what we are going to do once the last one graduates from high school in June, as the sun sets over the desert. Romance, family, friends, food and love is what this holiday is all about this year for me, and I hope it is for you as well, because you cannot package that love is found when you are surrounded by those closest to your heart.

I started this post one way this morning, and now by early afternoon my mood has completely changed and I decided to talk about something else entirely! I know the rest of the country has already had snow, and it's starting to feel a bit like Winter for you all, but here in the mountains of Arizona we still hover almost ten degrees above normal and our mountains, that stand over twelve thousand feet in elevation, are barren of snow. This is the strangest and warmest I can remember it being here in Flagstaff in the last fifteen years, and I am starting to worry about what happens this Summer when fire season hits and we have had no snow to drench the thirst of the trees and grasses that have grown out of control. Until then I am praying for snow here in the high country, even though I am heading to the warmer climate down in Phoenix with the family, I would still love to see snow when we return! Every night as we make a fire I think about having a cup of hot chocolate and sitting down to relax, and you can bet I will be hovering near a table like this at the other half's annual Christmas party, because after all, it is the perfect time of year for a cup of hot chocolate!

In the last twenty four hours our entire lives have changed as the youngest, who graduated in June, decided to leave home all of the sudden and move down to Phoenix. Most parents have a bit of notice and some time to get used to the idea of their children going to college or moving out and we are still reeling from the news while he has woken up in a new home this morning with the whole world before him. He has some health issues, so his father and I are biting our nails hoping he is mature enough to handle all the things he has to, and to take care of himself. Which I know is the worry of all parents, but when you add in needed medications, it becomes a greater stressor. But in the end this is his chance to prove something to himself, not just to us. So while we were making plans for the future of the family, life happened and now we have to regroup and see how things go before we continue with our plans. Though I am a bit fearful, at the same time I am SO excited for him! To be out in the world for the first time at 18 is a challenging and yet amazing time, especially when you are living with a friend and finding your way for the very first time. For Christmas this year the greatest gift we could get is a happy, healthy, well adjusted young man out on his own, living his dream!
For the first time I think in forever, the above part of my post has nothing to do with the photo, which just shows I write off the top of my head! This outfit has me feeling fierce, fabulous, and yes, a bit like revenge, though I'm not sure why! I have been looking for a reason to use this chair from SEUL for months now, and today was the day! Christmas is right around the corner, and if you are anything like my family and I, you are NOT prepared and are still trying to find out where half the year has gone! Plans have been set and we will be going out of town for five days to spend time with my entire side of the family. Which means there will be eleven people under one roof, with three of them being 18,19 and 20 and wanting to be entertained! So movies, gaming and cards will be top on the priority list as well as watching football and EATING! We do a lot of that when we are all together, and I say "we" meaning I will be doing most of the cooking, so everyone can keep eating! LOL We are a loud, sometimes obnoxious, and a tad bit odd crew but it works, for the most part. Happy Monday everyone! I hope those of you in the States have had a wonderfully long Holiday weekend, full of food and family, and for the rest of you around the world, I hope you are greeting this Monday with enthusiasm! Sometimes, that's all it takes when faced with negative things, a fake it until you make it attitude. I am living in that state at the moment as a sudden and intense flare-up of things has thrown a wrench in my plans lately, but one thing I noticed that is never effected by my mood or my health, is my sense of style and fashion. We had a relaxing and casual Thanksgiving with my family and people gave me a hard time for "dressing up" for the occasion, and I realized that it doesn't matter what the event is, I am always accused of that. I guess because I spend so much time at home and out of the public view that when I get a chance to go out, I often dress up a bit. It isn't for others, it's for me, it helps elevate my mood which can take the edge off of the pain, and after all, fashion is always worth doing well!

This week has literally been FILLED with doctor's appointments for myself and for the kids, which means I have put over 200 miles on the car in 4 days and I feel like I haven't had a moment to sit and breathe! But yesterday brought great news in regards to my health, so that is a huge weight off the whole family's shoulders and now we can focus on the medical issues going on with the oldest boy. Having to go through all kinds of tests at 19 was not my wish for my child, and I am very worried because it was at the exact same age that my autoimmune issues reared their ugly head. Lots of blood tests, more heart tests and lots of shaken nerves and long nights has been the theme of our Fall. So with fingers crossed, positive thoughts and lots of cozy nights with the family planned for the next couple of weeks, is how we deal with this new hurdle. With that in mind, I started thinking about picking up a sign for the house, with a quote about family and I found the perfect quote, now just to find the sign or make it myself! The boys would LOVE that project on top of the floor next weekend! LOL

For years now I have been thankful that I didn't have a girl to try and raise in this world with all the fat shaming and body hating that seems to enter into every facet of our lives. I have been thin, I have been heavy, I have been fit and I have been somewhere in the middle, and it didn't matter the size, the problems with my body were always there; and the more I hated the body I was in, the more it revolted against me and the more I hated it. One day I made a choice to change everything about my life, including what I said in the mirror, because I learned I had to love myself first and foremost. You have to look in the mirror and tell it who is the fairest of them all, YOU!

I honestly have no idea where the last couple of months went, and I can't believe Thanksgiving is literally right around the corner. Our house is still in shambles but we had an incredibly productive weekend and the days after Thanksgiving will be spent putting in the new floor, which I am terribly excited about! Thirteen months after the leak was discovered we are getting the house together and in a few months it will be ready to be put up for sale, unless we decide to stay in Flagstaff for some odd reason. But all of this means we won't be having Thanksgiving at our house and the rest of the family doesn't cook, so a turkey dinner with all the fixings is not on the agenda this year, and I am a tad bit disappointed. I love the whole production like atmosphere of Thanksgiving, and its the only time of the year I get to make certain dishes I love, so I have a feeling we will be having our own turkey dinner at some point this month, since Christmas will be spent with the entire family, where I will be cooking lots of different things except a turkey! The truth is, I love the traditions, and the time with the family and I hate when things change, which means I am a bit out of sorts now after finalizing the plans for next week, and a quote from Oscar Wilde has danced through my head this morning more than once, after realizing what he meant. "The truth is rarely pure and never simple," but a photo is simple and it speaks the truth you wish to see!

Though my son did all of his "Senior" stuff last year, other than graduate, for some reason I am suddenly slammed with all kinds of emotions as the reality of him graduating and leaving home hits me. As we were driving to school the other day a new song by Macklemore and Kesha came on the radio and I found myself staring at my son as he drove wondering if he knew that now and for the next couple of years, were the best of his days. The last days of true freedom, of being on your own and finding yourself with all the ups and downs that come with it, become those days you look back on the most as the silver starts to run through your hair, and the lines begin to make themselves more evident when you stare in the mirror. Needless to say I have been a bit emotional as we go through the college applications, Senior photos, quotes and the letter he has asked me to write, along with my best friend, to accompany the slideshow of him growing up for Graduation; so instead of whining and crying, I will share with you the song and of course a stunning new release!

If my friends and family were asked to write down quotes from me, I have a feeling every one of them would write, "just breathe," since it happens to be my mantra. Earlier this week I went for my mammogram and once again they scheduled the 3D mammogram for today, and discussions between the Radiologist and the surgeon have already started, which of course has me a little pensive.
