Like the rest of you who live in the U.S., fourteen years ago tonight we all went to sleep with a false sense of security that we were untouchable. When the smoke cleared that morning in New York, the towers were gone and the wings of America's majestic Eagle had been stripped as we stood vulnerable and for the first time equal to the rest of the world. Since that day, it could be said that we are still searching for our wings, still trying to regain our grace. That day marked the start of a paradigm shift in my life as on November 9th of that same year I lost my son's father and the love of my life. It could be said that within a few months everything I knew and believed in was challenged and that I too lost my wings and have been searching for them since. Maybe it is the date, or the fact this ensemble from Jinx made me think of Malificent when her wings were stripped; or perhaps the haunting eyes from Lone Wolf Studios that pay tribute to the fallen towers, but I have stumbled into a bit of a melancholy mood tonight as I think about how many lost their wings that day and how many gained them. Maybe, that is the answer.... For all those to get into heaven that day, thousands had to lose their way, their "wings" if you will, and that finding your way back is the key... For now, I think I might hear a fluttering in the distance and I am hoping I can reunite someone with their wings tonight. After all, isn't it the perfect night for that?

The past week has set my bi-polar disorder a swinging to and fro which as most people know, irritates the hell out of me. I take things in stride and have managed my emotions through communication with others and listening to my body for years, but stress often sets me a bit off kilter and my meter is reading "TILT" much like an old pinball machine. The icing on the cake this week was having to go have a sleep study done last night to check out what goes on in the wee hours of the night and why I don't really sleep. I haven't been told what time to go to bed since I was 18 years old and still living at home, so when the technician said, "Lights out." at 9:30 pm I had a moment of wtf are you thinking, then closed my eyes and said, to myself, "Alright, let's see how this goes." I have no idea how long it took me to fall asleep but it was not restful and I am exhausted today, again. That has been a constant state of being lately, and I have to say I was truly hoping I would get some good rest last night. My body, however, often has a mind of it's own and last night it decided to pick a fight! So today, as I was going through my picture pile up I realized that I am feeling completely uninspired today and down, so instead of trying to fight it and come up with a shoddy piece of work, I decided to share with you my current mood.

It's funny, most people don't really know what causes their down swings, but with self awareness and sitting alone with yourself and think about your current situation, what you thought has brought you down is most likely NOT the true reason behind your sudden dip. For me, Summers make me think of couple's and weddings; picnics in the park and date nights, which being single, this can often turn me a bit melancholy. But as many of you know, I am not one to fight that downturn, as I know it will always reverse itself in time. For those of you who know me or who have been following my blog for awhile now know I will always be a Southern girl at heart no matter how long I have had my toes dug into the soft, dark, cinder rich soils of the mountains of Arizona. Anyone who know the state of Missouri, it is a "Northern" state that was divided in the Civil War. meaning Southern traditions run deep as do the accents, depending on the geographic location. My family is Kansas and Missouri bred with ties to Tennessee and Kentucky, and I spent a few years down the Atlanta way which means when I am tired, or have had a few glasses of wine, the drawl make an appearance; which of course is met with giggles and requests to repeat certain words.
A couple of days ago my only a/c unit went out and in my world that means DEAL, because a replacement isn't on the horizon. I have suddenly been transported back to the long, languid Summer days spent at the river or out in the pool. When makeup was a joke because it melted off your face faster than the ice cream cone in your hand and the buzz of the bees hypnotized you into an almost waking sleep. I even ended up taking a nap yesterday afternoon with a damp sheet and fans where I ended up dreaming of the back porch swing and the old rickety fan from home. When I woke last night I had quite a bit of energy when the sun went down and the temps dropped so I hopped on Second Life to see what goodies had come my way during my heat induced coma. After the dream and the nostalgia that had washed over me during the day I just HAD to show off this fabulous Gingham dress from Jinx! Needless to say, the outfit matched my day and my dreams and I have been caught up in the memories of back home where I grew up a wildflower.

Earlier today I posted about my amazing find at Vivaldi and all of its gorgeous scenery, and I promised I would share with you the ensemble I was wearing while out getting lost today. And so as promised, I present to you one of the newest outfits from Jinx!
Jinx is a new creator part of the amazing We Love to Blog group and I absolutely fell in love with this outfit the moment I unpacked it. This is truly a "Jade" kind of outfit and completely fits into my idea of Bohemian Couture. Every detail of this ensemble is perfectly designed to compliment or accent each other, making it a great addition to any closet, especially those of you with a Boho flair. The top and pants are well meshed and wonderfully textured as are the accessories that go so well with the sexy stilettos.
