The time of year that makes me think of home

Around this time of year, every year, I tend to get a bit nostalgic for where I grew up.  The bonfires on the weekends with the suns rays warming you through the day and a slight chill in the air as the sun sleeps for the evening, making it perfect sweatshirt and jeans weather.  Though I migrated West into the desert, most people forget there are huge mountains out here, with trees that change colors, lose their leaves and SNOW!  As I drive the boys to school in the morning I am stunned by the amazing colors showing up on the mountain as the trees are well into their fabulous Fall display, all seeming to try to out due the other.  But there will always be something missing here where I have made my roots, and I think maybe, for everyone, no matter where you are, it's never quite like home.  I love being able to wear the same things I have all Summer with a sweater added on top, or a pair of leggings on underneath.  It's the perfect time of year for layers, and if you don't like to dress that way, you will learn, because it's the only way to get through a whole day in Northern Arizona because the weather tends to change very rapidly this time of year.  The peaks have already had a dusting of snow, the wood has been split and stacked for the Winter and the flowers are making their last dying effort to provide a little brightness before the bleakness of Winter comes.  No matter where I go, from October to November, I will always miss those Missouri Autumn evenings, growing up in the Boondocks.

I have never been one to run with the "in" crowd, just because of who they were.  I might have ended up on the fringes due to having friends in those groups, but my friends have always been a very eclectic group of people.  One of the things I have noticed about the majority of those I call friend, is that they never took the path others did, they forged their own way, and took the roads less traveled on, which makes my little rebel heart happy.  As I was wandering around today trying to find a spot to take pictures I realized that even on SL I never take the main road.  I always seem to just head off in one direction or another, through trees, and water, sometimes falling under a SIM, but off the path, in those more hidden places, you often find the hidden gems.  I think that applies to all areas of our lives, to be honest.  Too many people have gone the same direction, followed the exact same path, because someone told them that is how to get there, when in reality, there are a thousand different roads that lead to the same place, you just have to find the perfect one for you!  So, "trust your rebel heart, ride it into battle; don't be afraid, take the road less traveled."

Some songs, no matter how long ago it was since you last heard them, stay with you.  Their words, their meaning, the melody lingers in the recesses of your mind until the chords once again dance upon the air and filter through the grey matter.  For some reason today, one of those songs came playing through my head as I wandered along the beach at Baja Sands looking for the perfect spot to take my photo.  If you haven't ever heard "Song to the Siren", by any of the artists who have covered it over the years, then take a moment and let this hauntingly beautiful melody impress itself upon your memory.

One of the things I have been working on with my photography is improving my closeups, since they always seem to look a bit off.  Today, I have to say I am quite pleased with this capture especially with how fantastic the new pieces from IT! look, and these amazing eyes from Lone Wolf Studio!  The Aloha Fair has been up and running for a little bit now, which means you are running out of time to head over and grab the gifties out and about at the booths as well as this gorgeous new jewelry collection from IT! The storms are starting to settle in again here in the mountains of Arizona, which seems to be the daily standard lately.  And I think I am going to take a bit of time and relax for awhile, recharge my batteries and enjoy the melancholia that tends to set in at the end of the Summer.  Unlike most parents who seem to be celebrating the return of kids to school, I am dreading it because I truly love spending time with the boys.  Running around doing yard work, watching movies, discussing the world; these are all moments I cherish, and the days here in the office will be a bit quiet without them around.  Have a wonderfully wicked rest of your day and remember to always stay true to your style and make today's fashion trends work for you! ~Jade~

Much like the Phoenix, the Aries woman rises from the ashes to burn brighter.

If you have ever been lucky enough (yes I am a bit biased) to be friends with an Aries, then you know they are a tad bit fiery, sometimes a little self absorbed (the Zodiac infant just finding their fingers and toes), occasionally a wee bit arrogant, fiercely loyal (sometimes to a fault), funny, quirky, very trustworthy, brutally honest, with a tender heart they wear on their sleeves.  I am not afraid to throw out the negatives involved with my sign, as they are as much a part of my personality as are the positive qualities.  One of the things I am known for, is trying something over and over again, expecting different results, usually when it comes to relationships.  I will literally try anything and everything I know to attempt to "fix" what went wrong, even though most of the times, those things cannot be fixed, because a relationship involves two people.  With some distance, I can look back now and see the faults of my past and realize that no matter how much you want something, it wasn't always meant to work out, which means there is nothing to "fix", if that makes sense.  The past few years have been pretty dark and I literally have felt like everything was destroyed and that I was starting anew, this year.  I feel like I have risen from the ashes of my past life to shine brighter in the new one that has found me.  With Indulge Temptation's new release of the My Sign necklaces, the tone of this post was set, but I don't just think Aries women rise from the ashes, I think anyone can, I just loved the fire reference!

The world in my eyes

I have to be honest and admit that I am truly feeling out of my element being so incredibly busy and I have fallen behind in my dedication to keeping RL and SL life balanced.  I use my blogging as a sort of stress reliever in many ways, and the past week has seen me so busy that I haven't been able to post much which has left me feeling a bit out of sorts.  So many wonderful things have come my way since my return from neck surgery and I haven't been able to honor my new sponsors in the ways I have wanted due to being so busy with the move and having to commute into the old house to work, because we still don't have internet at the other house, and the latest estimate is next Spring.  So my posts are scattered, my thoughts are jumbled and I hope you all just bare with me during this incredible time of change.

I find it strange that the world is in as much turmoil as my personal life is right now; it seems to be the current state of affairs for most people I know right now, but like all things, this too shall pass.  When I opened my latest box from Lone Wolf Studio an old song started playing through my head which helped me find a direction for this post today!  The Medieval Fantasy Fair 6 continues for a little less than a week which means you don't have much time to head on over to the event and grab the newest, fantasy eyes from Lone Wolf.  I am wearing the RARE, called Princess and I love the swirl effect as it reflects the current state of confusion in my head and in the world.  I also want to encourage everyone to head on over to the Hair Fair 2016, where each purchase goes to fund Wigs for Kids, an absolutely AMAZING organization that is well worth your Linden, and we could all use new hair, in my opinion!  To grab a map and to get all the information check the website >HERE<, I promise you won't be disappointed and make sure to grab the gifts most designers have up in their stalls.

Perfect Cameo Capture

Mystical Beauty

Sometimes when I put together an ensemble with a certain theme in mind, stories start to play themselves out in my head and quite often it is very difficult for me to choose which way I want to go.  Today as I put together a scene and then an ensemble for some reason "Blade Runner" was playing through my head and I had a different take on an android in the future.  What if in the future we have come so far that the only way to tell an artificial intelligence from a naturally born human is through their eyes.  With contacts, you would never know, as you pass by the nameless and countless faces on the street which people were "real" or not.  What if it was only in the dark of the night when the contacts were removed could you truly tell who you were with?  Could you trust anyone?  Could you trust yourself?  Would you trust her?

Classically Stylish under a New Moon in AnaMarkova Designs, Lone Wolf Studio and Alaskametro

I am begrudgingly a little behind in my blogging for AnaMarkova Designs, even though I try and get out at least two posts a month to show off her releases, but it just doesn't seem to be enough!  If you have been a fan then make sure to remember that AnaMarkova releases weekly so the few items I get to show off to you are really only a tiny peek into the gorgeous creations added to the store much more often than I could possibly blog!  The Toyah Sweater Dress is a perfect example of something you don't want to miss out on!  This stunning, body draping dress comes in several colors with matching shoes, with each piece wonderfully textured with an incredible attention to detail.  So make sure you head by Designer Showcase and the store to pick up the latest and greatest from AnaMarkova Designs!

Today, December 11th, marks the New Moon and a new program at Lone Wolf Studio as well as a new product!  Lone Wolf Studio marks the New Moon with a new release and this time the amazing creator brings you a new set of nails perfect for this time of year.  Expect to find releases on the New and Full Moon's in the store this month and probably from now on, so make sure to check my blog and the store!

I also wanted to show off two of the stunning make up pieces currently at this round of Anybody from Alaskametro.  The Creme Duo shadows come in a wide variety of colors as well appliers for your favorite mesh heads, with the Omega applier; and the Sheer Gloss also comes in a bunch of colors and also comes with the same appliers as well as Standard Layers.  Do yourself a favor and head on by the event before it's too late and these disappear into the Marketplace store.

The Snow Queen's vision of time

As all of my readers know, I love to have a reason to play dress up and put on a new character for a bit and today is no exception!  I was delighted when I opened my blogger box from TFF for the SL 2015 Christmas Expo, a Relay for Life production and saw this wonderful ensemble and just HAD to share it with you all as well as give you a teaser for January from Lone Wolf Studio!

Down to the cold part

The temperature gauge in the car this morning read 6 degrees ushering in Winter before it's due date and bringing out the heavy coats, scarves, earmuffs and hoodies.  With the arrival of Winter in my real life I decided to bring snow to my SL world as well and though I know it should probably make me shiver, this time of year makes me all warm and fuzzy inside as I think of family and friends that I will get to see sooner than later.  As I wandered around my little parcel I decided it was a perfect time to put together a post for you all featuring new eyes from Lone Wolf Studio, an amazing new coat from Styled@random both perfect for this frost time of year and Indulge Temptation's newest release for Designer Circle 119!

The Peacoat from Styled@random comes in two styles with an amazing HUD featuring several perfect jewel tones for you to mix and match with your favorite skirts, slim pants or leggings.  If you have been looking for the PERFET long, body hugging skirt then hurry on over to this round of Shiny Shabby and pick up this gorgeous skirt from PEQE.  The standard sizes fit well with my mesh body and it comes in a variety of colors so you are sure to find the exact one you have been searching for!  The Peacoat fits great when you move though be careful with your layers as the back of the jacket fits quite close to the frame.  For example, I am wearing the medium jacket with an XS skirt to fix the skirt from breaking through.  Just a note, not a flaw, just wanting everyone to know that fitting a bottom to this jacket can be a bit tricky but well worth it!  

The Winter Hauntings Hunt started today and runs through the end of the month which is the only way for you to pick up the newest release from Lone Wolf Studio, Frost.  The eyes are unisex and as always can be resized if needed, perfect for all your snowy, ghostly roleplay adventures this Winter.  As usual Indulge Temptation has once again blown me away with their newest release for the current round of Designer Circle with the Crystalline Jewelry collection.  The set comes in 6 different color combinations so make sure to check them all out and pick yours up today.  The delicate pattern and stunning jewels will be a great addition to your jewelry box to pull out for all your Winter events.  I hope I have given you all a few ideas for this week to get some shopping in, and if this isn't up your alley then stay tuned, I'm sure you are to find something to your liking in a post in the near future!

Look into my eyes

Earlier this month I showcased five of the newly released eyes from Lone Wolf Studio, which means I know all of my RP followers have been by the store to check them out!  If not, what are you waiting for?  Another teaser?  Well here you have it! 

The "Alice" eyes are a new addition to the line of eyes at Lone Wolf Studio as they are color change!  Simply touch the eye and you have 4 different color options.  The standard Hazel, Faded Logo (from Resident Evil), Logo, and of course the Logo with Zombie lurking around.  These eyes are Unisex, as are all the other releases for May.  The eyes are a little bit more expensive than usual, but of course they are, you get 4 instead of 1!  Do yourself a favor and head on over today and grab some of the best RP eyes on the grid at Lone Wolf Studio!
