My water coloured dreams - Featuring CIRCA for Home & Garden Expo 2017 a RFL event

I hope everyone had a glorious weekend, and for those in the United States, I hope you had a lovely day off yesterday and gave proper respect for those who gave all, I know I did!  The garden fence is mostly complete, and the final planting has been done, and now I feel a bit like a new mom, hovering over them waiting for them to show me their latest trick!  The temperatures this week have gone into the 80's, which feels a bit more like Summer than it does Spring, but every living thing seems to be celebrating and when I look around I am reminded of the landscapes of Monet, where the world looks painted in watercolor.  Today when I logged on SL to check out what happened while I was away, I was excited to see a new blog pack from Cherelle Capra of CIRCA for the Relay for Life Home & Garden Expo 2017.  I have blogged for this event in this past and it was one of my most satisfying experiences since I started blogging.  This year, without access to internet at home I have had to do some shopping and wandering on my own to find goodies for my home, and I am sure you will too, especially if you love to redecorate quite often like I do.

With the chill in the air I am reminded of the fact it was exactly this time of year that I met my online bestie.  When I think of everything that has happened in the last 6 years, I can't think of anything that happened that I didn't immediately run to tell him.  Whether a broken heart, a wonderful success or to just talk about my day; we share everything.  I have been so scattered lately that we haven't had much time to sit down and talk so yesterday afternoon I told him I had a cute new piece from Aphrodite to blog, and that his presence was required.  It killed two birds with one stone after all, since I really needed to get this blog post done, and as everyone knows, setting up these scenes takes eons, so we had plenty of time to chat.  Though I am a completely different person in many ways, than the day we met, I always look to him to ground me and bring me back down to earth.  I have been floating a bit high lately on my bubble of happiness and I hadn't had a moment to catch the best friend up yet, so I am sure my man's ears were ringing all morning long, and he should probably be blushing a bit too, but it was so nice to sit and laugh for a while with a great friend.  I think people forget to do that a lot, and I know I am guilty of it far more often than I care to admit, and more than I like.  But the people who have known you for years, and know the truth of who you are; are the ones who can remind you of who you are, in good times and in bad.  Rev reminded me today that though I love my new country life, I am still a bit of a girly girl, so I just might have to put on a dress sometime this weekend and drag my partner out for some time with friends since I couldn't remember the last time I had gotten dressed up or put on makeup, and that is just not acceptable!  So do yourself a favor and call up on old friend this weekend and get in touch with your roots for a little while, it will do you good.

Everyone needs a comfortable place to relax and unwind

I don't know about all of you, but a place to call my own, that is just for relaxing, is incredibly important to me. And if you happen to be able to create that space outside this Summer, then you are truly blessed.  Being out in nature and able to experience the sun on your face, the wind in your hair and the soft twitter of the birds means you can care for your entire being as you unwind.  As most of you know, I have been working on my home for some time now, and with recent changes I have been thinking about tearing it all down and starting over, however, I won't be touching my outdoor patio space, as it is the perfect place to relax and unwind with a crisp and refreshing glass of wine and a good book.  Recent releases from [CIRCA] have completed the outdoor space and if you happen to be looking for excellent garden or patio pieces then make sure to check out the links below and start creating your perfect sanctuary this Summer.

"So what you wanna know Calamity's child?"

I remember when I was younger my Mom often quoted lines from "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie to me and I can say I was a fan long before I really understood his genius.  Before I left on my leave of absence for surgery I had wanted to do a post to honour the man who inspired me, and whose music kept me company often in the darkest of moments, but I never had the chance.  Upon my return this past week I was excited to see the current round of InspirationSL dedicated to David Bowie, and immediately dug into my blogger box from IT! to see what goodies had been designed for the event!  In true Bowie style, or should I say, with no particular style in mind, other than a bit of a longing for the 70's, I put a little scene and ensemble together to share with you all!

It may be Spring in the Northern Hemisphere but others are just starting to head into their chilly time of the year! - [CIRCA] and unKindness

I know those of us who blog have a tendency to focus on where we are in the world without much thought to the fact that as we showcase swimsuits and getting outdoors, those below the Equator are starting to head indoors and look towards the colder parts of their year.  So with that in mind today I went through all the goodies I have gotten from [CIRCA] over the last couple of months and put together a cozy living room with a fantastic fireplace PERFECT for those of you looking to head inside!

Ocean Loft Set by [CIRCA] @ Color Me Project

I was fortunate enough in my youth to get to travel all over the world, but one of my favorite places was Maui, where we spent every Christmas.  I have always loved decorating one room in the house, usually the one with the most windows in bright floral prints and solids with rattan and wood bases and no matter where you look in my home you will find plants, flowering and not.  These little things make me happy and give me those warm and fuzzies of home that I truly love.  The newest release from [CIRCA] for the Color Me Project reminds me a lot of those days on Maui and it made me a bit nostalgic for those times with my toes curled in the sand with no cares in the world.

A walk in the sunshine with CIRCA @ The Home and Garden Expo

Tonight at midnight the 2016 Home and Garden Expo, benefiting The American Cancer Society, will close up it's doors for another year, which means you don't have much time left to head on over and pick up some of the newest and best creations on the grid for your home and garden.  For my final post I am featuring the fantastic releases from CIRCA and Bee Designs for the event as well as the adorable new fence collection from unKindness only available at SaNaRae!  CIRCA has two 100% donation items, as well as a new release and a cute gift on exhibition at the event and if you are getting ready to decorate your home or photo sim then you need to check out these pieces, as they will make perfect additions and you can feel good about spending a bit of money as the proceeds go to help the American Cancer Society and their continuing fight on the behalf of everyone who has fought and those still fighting their battles with Cancer.

Needing to take a bit of a time out in my inspirational corner

I don't know about most of you but I use Facebook for the majority of my promotional work for my blog as well as for the shop I work for, and the last ten days have proven frustrating.  Apparently someone can report you for spam and Facebook just blocks without researching, which means I have had a whopping two whole days of being able to share posts in groups.  I am so frustrated at the moment that I honestly am having a hard time finding my creativity.  Luckily for me I started designing this space prior to my annoyance, which means I have a gorgeous spot to sit, breathe and relax while I try and come up with some solutions for the issue currently at hand.

Lost in memories of Christmas

Do you remember when Christmas was filled with toys that sometimes required batteries, the bigger the stuffed animal the better, parents stayed up hours to put together bicycles, and hours spent sitting around the tree with the family?  No one thinking of working on Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day and the biggest stressor was often the drunk Aunt passed out on the sofa after sneaking a bit too much Rum in her Eggnog.  Now, everyone under 25 is glued to a phone/laptop/tablet and the gifts always have something to do with video games or computers which makes them small, and the invention of gift cards, though convenient they taken much of the fun out of opening gifts, in my opinion.  As we continue to grow more and more attached to our technological devices the more distant we grow from each other, it seems.  When our family gets together there is a basket for all the devices to be tossed in during "family" events, like dinner, movies or like later this week, Christmas.  Everything has become automatic, convenient, and easy yet the times before that seem easier and I truly long for them.  Even my family, who cherishes our time together has gone to checks the month before so we can buy what we want and part of me really hates that system.  I long to be surprised on Christmas morning again with a gift I never would have thought to buy for myself and I wish for a time when tons of presents are stacked under the tree, or at least a couple special ones.  In the end, I guess I wish for a simpler time when everything wasn't automatic.

The tree and I are decked out in shiny baubles for the Holidays!

I have gotten a bunch of trees this year to blog and though I have truly loved several of them, something was still missing for my personal home.  I spotted a post on flickr this morning and I checked out the blog and knew exactly where I was heading as soon as my son wanted to do something other than lay around and watch movies on a snow day.  When that happens, the computer is held hostage, but I will never complain about spending time with my teenager.  The Mix is a rather new event on the grid that is run via a HUD, so you aren't heading out to an event you actually get a chance to check out the mainstores of featured creators.  I went to the website and found out all the info, grabbed my free HUD from the Marketplace, logged on and checked it out, even though I only had one destination in mind today, [CIRCA].  For the event, they have two Christmas trees to choose from, Blue and Silver, and Red and Gold, for those of you who have seen my home, you would have expected me to grab the Blue and Silver, but tradition holds strong with Christmas for me, so the Red and Gold was MINE, as well as the packages to fill the space beneath.  Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed AND there is plenty of room for you to add extra ornaments, which I plan on doing tonight.  As I was decorating, a new package came in from Amarelo Manga and I was delighted to see a dress that went perfectly with my new decor.  The tree and I are both decked out in shiny baubles for the holidays!
