As those who follow me know, I have been a tad bit of the melancholy baby as of late but that tends to be the case during this time of year. Even though this is my favorite season it also happens to be marked by a history of great loss. I often find myself reflecting and looking back and sometimes wishing I could turn back the clock. Perspective comes with time and though I still find it hard to not find myself lost in memories I know I wouldn't be who I am today without having gone through the struggles I have in my life. I am still a romantic at heart even though some would have grown cold and that is my favorite part of reflecting, falling back in love with love. It is a feeling like no other, and trust me, there truly isn't enough chocolate in the world to actually replace that emotion. So tonight I put on this gorgeous new release from Heydra and wandered down into my garden with memories on my mind.

I finally got the chance to head over to Collabor88 today and I just HAD to have this hair from Tableau Vivant and not just because it happens to be named Jade. I love the messy yet sophisticated look of this hair and it happens to make me feel a bit feisty, which for those who know me, can often lead to trouble! But tonight I am in far too reflective of a mood to go out and stir the cauldron, so to speak. The Muted Coven inspiration behind this round at Collab might have just made me close to broke, but it is well worth it as you will be amazed at all the offerings, so head on over before it's too late and you regret it!
Life is not easy or smooth sailing and sometimes we get blindsided by health issues, financial crises, random losses etc. So many people struggle in silence and don't share what they are going through only causing themselves more isolation with little relief from the stress of the issue at hand. And then there are those, who show their strength by sharing their struggles and revealing themselves even when it is the hardest thing for them to do. To make yourself open and vulnerable is to trust those around you, and to have faith in the good in humanity. Recently a well known and loved creator, Lexi Zelin discovered she had Cancer at a very young age, and as a wife, mother, provider, designer she reached out to everyone letting them know her situation and the struggles she was going through. The attention to detail and textures are truly amazing on this dress and the ass you get is truly bootilicious and fit perfectly with my Maitreya body, which always makes me happy. I had fun putting this ensemble together because this dress fits my style quite nicely. The form fitting lines of the dress are very classic with modern detailing at the bodice leading to its eclectic feel, which after all is the true definition of bohemian, combining textures, fabrics and patterns in an artsy kind of way.
Long before "Harry Potter" you could say I had a bit of a catch phrase I was known for, "always in all ways," and it means many different things to me but one of them applies in regards to The Lexi Project. We are all energy condensed into solid form in a most magical way. Chemistry between people can be explained by the idea that some energies flow together, while some repel. That unknown, unexplained connection you find with people you barely know can be chalked up to your energies wanting to share space with each other. Since I came to Second Life I have discovered a synergy among people and a true sense of community, another exchange of energies. It is perpetual, and ever growing as more people interact and share the same space, creating our own "always", where the energy of creativity and positive thoughts collide. I truly believe in the power of our minds and that our energy pooled together can do magical things. Yes, here is another time someone is going to mutter "hippie" under their breath and probably one of those times they wouldn't be that far off. I believe a chorus of voices can raise anyone to greater heights. So when I found this tattoo last month at The Wizarding Fair I just HAD to have it, and it has become a daily part of my wardrobe. Check the store as the event has ended, and I am not sure if it has been moved into the main inventory at this point. As many of you know I used to do my fair share of roleplaying but since I came over to Second Life I chose to not RP anymore, however, there are days when I want to toss on a costume and not be me for just a little while. Heydra's newest release immediately put me in a bit of an edgier mood and suddenly the new wave, punk girl in me came streaking out of her hiding place! In those teen years of finding who I was and what my style was, I might have dabbled in the punk look, including an 11 inch black mohawk so this ensemble today truly took me back to days of experimentation and dancing on the razors edge. I will leave it up to your imaginations to figure out what that means, just know I had a blast running around the grid to some seedier locations last night and I might just be back again soon!
Needless to say, since music is often my gateway to inspiration, I hit youtube and started surfing through old favorite bands and stumbled across one I hadn't thought about in years. Every day after cheerleading practice (with my mohawk in a ponytail) I would jump into my car to drive home and the radio would automatically go to the local "alternative" station where my friend Scott worked as a DJ. At exactly 4:55pm a dedication came across the waves that simply said, "Hey Crash, keep it under light speed! This goes out to you!" And by the time I hit the back roads of St. Louis County I was flying to "Crash" by the Primitives. Of course nostalgia set in a bit deeper and an old tune by the same band started tiptoeing its way through my grey matter and seemed a perfect song to accompany this post! (So yeah, hit play down there! Follow me back to the 80's)
I know I have been a bit quiet the last couple of posts but I have been feeling much like a tight rope walker on a razors edge with my life and which way to go. Transitioning from IMVU a year and a half ago to SL wasn't hard but, the learning curve when it comes to creating is HUGE! So while I watched tutorials, talked to friends and listened I began to blog. I have found my voice in that time and no longer feel like your run of the mill fashion blogger, which is exactly what I had hoped for when this all began. In the back of my mind a dream formed that included me creating on Second Life and taking my hobby to a whole new level and making it a career. It seemed a far off dream, but now, I stand on that tight rope, dizzy with happiness as I watch that dream become a physical reality. For that reason you will all notice that I have cut my sponsor list down quite a bit to free up more time for me to create so that in the next few months I will be introducing you to a new creator and it will be ME! I am incredibly grateful to all of my Sponsors and appreciate the opportunities each and everyone has provided me along the way. The vast amount of knowledge I have gained from them is something I can never repay, but I hope by me moving forward they know I couldn't have done it without them. The days as a lost "punk/alternative" kid and all of the lives I have lead that brought me to Second Life were all spent following a dream, with my head in the clouds. It isn't always a bad place to be, because after all, dreams often do come true!

I know on my last post I promised a follow up piece about dressing styles, and that will happen later today, I was held hostage by a back issue over the weekend and my best friend's birthday. But, I am back! And I have lots to share with you! I am a huge old movie buff, and I remember sitting with my mother and watching Alfred Hitchcock movies and how the first time I saw her, I was captivated. I have read every book ever written about her, and I have stared at pictures for hours taking in her classic, undeniable and eternal style. She was a movie star and fashion icon long before she married the Prince of Monaco but it was in those days, when money was no longer a though, that she came into her own in the regards to fashion. The cameras never missed a moment, and she always graced them with her flawless beauty. I am a tad bit behind this week, and I am not quite sure how that happened! Other than a few days that seem to have gotten lost due to errands, and the last day of school. But it is officially Summer Break for my son and I and guess what?! I slept in today! Oddly, he didn't, which I just find a little strange. I vaguely remember peering at him this morning through sleep encrusted eyes at 7:22 am and him telling me he would see me later. The cocoon I had woven myself into over night beckoned me back to deep sleep, and apparently I answered that call. It is now after 9 am and I am bright eyed and bushy tailed!
