Earlier this week I went for my mammogram and once again they scheduled the 3D mammogram for today, and discussions between the Radiologist and the surgeon have already started, which of course has me a little pensive. Whenever that happens a certain song starts to roll through my head; so since I don't have much to say at the moment I thought I would share it with you, because as I have come to know, even a sinner stops to pray from time to time.

Due to circumstances beyond my control with my health lately, I have been unable to post as much as I would have liked. As I sit here tonight with time on my hands for the first time in a bit I can't seem to come up with a witty story or anecdote. Two and a half years ago I had the scariest 29 days of my life, and it seems my body has decided to do a repeat performance of that moment in time. And though I am not as afraid as I was the first time possible Breast Cancer was mentioned, I am also finding it harder to stay positive. For the last year it has been one thing right after the other in regards to my health and I am just ready for this roller coaster to stop. So instead of trying to eek out something meaningless I am simply going to talk to you about how I fell in love with this Black Swan creature I put together, and I hope you do too!

I don't know if the rest of you parents are free yet, but school has started here in northern Arizona and I am finally free from one of the teens! Yay! But the one who graduated in June is still tagging along as I come into town, and we continue to have appointments with docs and people for the house, as well as that dreaded word J O B, for an 18 year old. But he's been starting to look a bit harder but I am sure that has something to do with the threats of having to move out that are prompting those, but the rule in the house is either you are in school or you have a job, so the party is about to be over, and then I will be able to sit back, organize all the goodies and be able to breathe and not feel like I am always running to catch up with blogging! I think the light at the end of the tunnel has me feeling a bit feisty again and in those moods I have a mix on youtube I always go to so I can wiggle along as I blog and yesterday as I donned this ensemble the mix came on and a certain song went on replay, which means I just HAD to share!

Today is one of those days that apparently my heart just wants to march to the beat of it's own drummer, with no rhyme or reason, at least not that I can find! And as usual it has me in a bit of an odd mood, but not a bad one, more like playful and whimsical. I'm sure my kids would tell you I am in full smart ass mode, but I of course, am trying to sugar coat it a bit. But life, as it is, has been showing it's ugly face and a long time ago I decided to meet these moments with levity and a wry sense of humor, while at the same time, being in the arms of the man I love, surrounded by my kids and friends is where I long to be. That place where all the stress melts away for a few moments and you can simply breathe with those who know you best. A time to close your eyes, take a long deep breath and let their love rain down on you.

I love those moments when you just plop down somewhere to set up a scene and I realize that the pose I just randomly sat in captured my mood perfectly. I often find myself staring out the window when it's cold outside and daydreaming of the beach, or a warm fire, or cuddles with a special someone and today is one of those days where I seem to be doing a whole lot of nothing besides staring out the window. When I spotted this pose in the Battered Chair from unKindness I knew I had found the place to capture my mood.
Drifting off into the shadows I can hear the waves lapping at the beach as it creeps forward as the tide comes in; the warmth of the sun on my skin and the feel of your hand clasped in mine as we walk along the beach. Perfectly at peace with a smile on my face, the chill of the storm on the horizon fades from my bones and for a moment I am caught in a daydream.

I have always wanted my very own fairy tale mirror with lights, and preferably a Fairy God Mother, but we know that isn't going to happen, but as luck will have it, I now have my very own Princess Mirror! I might have gotten a bit excited when I saw this mirror was going to be at The Fantasy Collective and I actually made myself wait to get it until yesterday, if you can believe it, but I was waiting for the crowds to die down and to really have time to look around. That event makes me crazy though because I have a tendency to get lost in all those winding paths and crisscrossing pathways, but when I am on a mission it doesn't matter, that mirror was going to be mine! I happened up on a few other things while I was there, which was a happy surprise as well, so check out the website for the event to grab the shopping guide and get your hands on some wonderfully whimsical items!
I was actually putting all of this together for another post when I finally connected with the wonderful Luana Barzane and got all my blogger stuff and two gorgeous new gowns for Amarelo Manga! The Nilfa Long Gown has a fantastic Teal to Gold fade from the bottom to the top that is flawless and the dress fits magnificently well without breaking or stretching as I posed and moved around. I often think that nail designers don't get a lot of credit for the hard work that they do, so I am trying to make sure I include them in my posts with a close up to spotlight the incredible designs made on such a tiny platform! This release can only be found at the SL 2015 Christmas Expo right with all or part of the proceeds going to benefit Relay for Life, so you get fabulous nails AND get to donate to a wonderful cause! What could be better?!
For those of you who know my story, you know that life has given me my fair share of curve balls along the way and that I seem to take everything pretty much in stride, with just a few hiccups along the way. To those on the outside looking in I seem to handle everything that comes my way and continue to smile and attempt to make people laugh. But for those who are closest to the Jester in her court know that there are cracks in the facade for most of the time the only thing people see is a mask. When the lights go down at the end of the day and the house grows quiet, the masks come off and what is revealed is often a worn out, tearful woman in incredible pain who has very few moments to spend just with herself. When the pain cycle has gotten out of control I have a bit of mania that kicks in and so I end up not being able to sleep, which is really the only break I get from the pain. So it becomes a cycle and I feel at war with my own body every hour of every day. Over the years, one of the ways I find to get lost is to read. And I have been told I "consume" not read, which is probably a pretty accurate description of how I read when I am in need of an escape. It has been so long since I first picked up a collection of poems from Mary Oliver that I forget there was a time in my life where her books and quotes didn't live in my homes. I am known to quote her often and I am proud to have introduced her to so many people over the decades. Lately, the court Jester/ Nurse Nightengale hasn't been feeling so perky and to be honest, my mood is pretty low. I am still up at 4 a.m. (now 5 am as I finish this post) with no sleep in sight soon, breakfast and getting Jesse off to school will happen in just a few hours and there is a part of me wishing I wasn't me at the moment. It is one of those days that the darkness has crept in and I long for a light revealing an answer to relief. This, may take some time, and as I was sitting and reading a phrase, quote, stanza, if you like, started tumbling its way out of the recesses of my brain and into consciousness.

For a moment, I want the daily struggles to just take a coffee break and let me return to my carefree life I had once upon a time, where every movement wasn't considered and options weighed before committing to the simplest of tasks. But this cocoon I live in, I am firmly convinced that someday from my chrysalis I will struggle and crawl, emerging to greet the light as my beautiful, unique wings unfurl and carry me far away to a new life, free from pain, my constant companion, never my friend. I find, taking time to be with yourself, to love yourself, to know yourself is often the quickest path to discovering your wings, and as I sat tonight, the moment was just right, and the lighting just perfect for a glimpse inside my cocoon.
Too many people try to hide when they get down or simply pretend that it doesn't happen to them, but let's be honest, everyone has their moments. I have told you all before I like being the melancholy baby from time to time, it keeps me grounded and honest and sometimes lingering there, for a moment can make you appreciate even more the amazing things around you!

The Apply Me! event from Solaris started today bringing you amazing creations for all your appliers! From bodies to heads to boobs and butts you are sure to find something for your favorites! As most of you know I stayed covered for the most part in my blog and if I have to be a tad bit more revealing for a Sponsor, I will do it but you will get a censored picture so as to not set off the nudity police! This round PixyStix brings this gorgeous tattoo for your hands, tummy and nipples. The intricate detailing is well done and can be worn in pieces not as just a whole tattoo which I find to be a plus. I hate when I want only a piece of a tattoo to show and I have to wear the entire piece and that can often times interfere with layers on mesh bodies. So to kick off the event I take you inside my home with the lights down low, a little Nina on the radio and the clothes kicked to the side.
So everyone who has been following along knows I am over 40, but for anyone new, I turned 43 in April, and though I don't think I look fantastic for my age, I am not one to hide it either. My body acts like it is a lot older and with everything I have been through, I do look pretty good for that, at least in my opinion. Over the years I have dated younger men and the most common comment among them is that women age like a fine wine, and just get better with age. Now I am not one to analyze the younger/older relationships as I honestly believe that if you can find love in this world, as long as it isn't with children or animals, that you are blessed. It is tough no matter who you are anymore and if you find a soul connection with someone, a difference of fifteen or twenty years shouldn't make a difference, as long as the people involved are ready to handle all the crap they are going to get. Trust me when I say there will always be a ton of it, from younger, older, same age... everyone will have an opinion. It has been a very long time since I dated someone younger in my real life, but I have dated younger men pretty much exclusively online since 2008. Call me vain, whatever, but I do enjoy the idea of being attractive to men at least ten years younger than I am. It gives a nice little boost to the ego, which I think anyone needs from time to time.

As you can tell, I had quite a bit of fun at The Arcade this round, and I have no complaints because I actually got everything I went there for without having to break the bank to do it. Which, I know is probably a surprise for most of you out there who have ventured to the event this time. I had been decorating this scene when I took a break and opened up my newest goodies from AnaMarkova Designs and suddenly it went from just a scene to an entire post with a very calm, casual, lazy, romantic, "days of Summer feel", at least for me. The Bohemian in me was so excited when I opened the box from ECRU with their goodies from The Thrift Shop! I found the PURRFECT Valentine's dress, shoes and accessories for my romantic night out tomorrow!
