Lady of the light gone mad with the night - Featuring Virtual Diva

So if any one was paying attention to my post at the end of last week, then you know I was looking forward to a week of getting organized for work and of doing a bit of catch up on my blogging. Well as we all know, as soon as you make plans, life happens. I have been putting on a bit of a brave face of late as I have had to ween myself off of my nerve medication, per physician instruction, since I have developed a life threatening allergy to it. If there was one medication I would tell people I couldn't live without, it would have been that one, so I have been getting to know that pain again and it has thrown me for a loop and kept me from being able to come into town to my computer. It has been years now since I have had to feel the fire of nerve pain through my body, but I am finding a new strength in looking for alternative treatments and empowering myself and once again calling pain my constant companion, my muse, but never my friend.

Today officially marks the start of Winter break for my son and I think I am more excited than he is, because it gives me time to myself next week to get organized and blog a bit more than I have been, as long as the internet cooperates. Life happens while you are making plans - Featuring Ashmoot

In the last twenty four hours our entire lives have changed as the youngest, who graduated in June, decided to leave home all of the sudden and move down to Phoenix. Most parents have a bit of notice and some time to get used to the idea of their children going to college or moving out and we are still reeling from the news while he has woken up in a new home this morning with the whole world before him. He has some health issues, so his father and I are biting our nails hoping he is mature enough to handle all the things he has to, and to take care of himself. Which I know is the worry of all parents, but when you add in needed medications, it becomes a greater stressor. But in the end this is his chance to prove something to himself, not just to us. So while we were making plans for the future of the family, life happened and now we have to regroup and see how things go before we continue with our plans. Though I am a bit fearful, at the same time I am SO excited for him! To be out in the world for the first time at 18 is a challenging and yet amazing time, especially when you are living with a friend and finding your way for the very first time. For Christmas this year the greatest gift we could get is a happy, healthy, well adjusted young man out on his own, living his dream!

For the first time I think in forever, the above part of my post has nothing to do with the photo, which just shows I write off the top of my head! This outfit has me feeling fierce, fabulous, and yes, a bit like revenge, though I'm not sure why! I have been looking for a reason to use this chair from SEUL for months now, and today was the day! I honestly have no idea where the last couple of months went, and I can't believe Thanksgiving is literally right around the corner. Our house is still in shambles but we had an incredibly productive weekend and the days after Thanksgiving will be spent putting in the new floor, which I am terribly excited about! Thirteen months after the leak was discovered we are getting the house together and in a few months it will be ready to be put up for sale, unless we decide to stay in Flagstaff for some odd reason. But all of this means we won't be having Thanksgiving at our house and the rest of the family doesn't cook, so a turkey dinner with all the fixings is not on the agenda this year, and I am a tad bit disappointed. I love the whole production like atmosphere of Thanksgiving, and its the only time of the year I get to make certain dishes I love, so I have a feeling we will be having our own turkey dinner at some point this month, since Christmas will be spent with the entire family, where I will be cooking lots of different things except a turkey! The truth is, I love the traditions, and the time with the family and I hate when things change, which means I am a bit out of sorts now after finalizing the plans for next week, and a quote from Oscar Wilde has danced through my head this morning more than once, after realizing what he meant. "The truth is rarely pure and never simple," but a photo is simple and it speaks the truth you wish to see!

Lately I have been absolutely appalled at the body shaming and self hate that I have seen all over my Facebook page and other social media sites and I have become to question almost everything. I don't know if the rest of you parents are free yet, but school has started here in northern Arizona and I am finally free from one of the teens! Yay! But the one who graduated in June is still tagging along as I come into town, and we continue to have appointments with docs and people for the house, as well as that dreaded word J O B, for an 18 year old. Chess like kings and queens above all - Virtual Diva

I am feeling a bit feisty today, and I am not quite sure why, other than the weather has once again turned towards Spring and I am looking quite forward to it's rather late arrival. The garden has been planted for a bit now with the more resilient plants and next week all the baby plants in the kitchen window get to find their way into the soil, but not before the fence is finished so the rabbits can stop running off with my baby Rhubarb and Swiss Chard! And of course as the temperatures rise we have a tendency to shed layers and start revealing more skin, and if you are looking for an ensemble that goes from the runway to the beach then look no further than this amazing ensemble from Virtual Diva, currently at Swank!

The Delirium ensemble comes with the headpiece add-on and the hip flowers as well as the daring swimsuit that reveals just enough, but not very much! I loved the fit on this suit especially as I walked and posed and it didn't break or stretch the wrong way, but be careful when posing the hip pieces might need to be moved. The textures are wonderfully done on the roses and I love the edgy, Summer runway feel of this ensemble, and I am hoping you all do too, because this seriously needs to make its way into your closet!

Lately I have fallen in love with Nanika tattoos, and this has to be my favorite! Thankfully SL decided to let me log on long enough to get you all the information for my post today, which means I got all excited and immediately switched windows excited to blog and suddenly found myself faced with another round of writer's block. It is starting to get a bit frustrating, especially when I don't get to blog that much anymore! So while I was waiting I happened to stumble into a discussion with my best friend about the word "crazy", and how it can often spur people to act a bit nuts just to spite those who think they have gone off their rocker! Say you won't let go - Featuring Marquesse, Powder Pack, SlackGirl, Pink Fuel, Izzie's

Lately I have been starting to walk/hike again and it seems that everyday I want to be outside more and more, making my journeys longer, which has me feeling better than I have in months. Whether a short walk after dinner, or a few miles in the morning or a weekend adventure, I have been enjoying Spring as it starts to blanket the mountains of Arizona. While the mountains are still crowned in snow, down below the trees are in bloom and wild flowers are starting to peek their heads above the soil, and it is a perfect time to be out and about. The desire for fluffy green grass and flowers has translated to a complete transformation of my land, including a completely empty home, since it seems I have no desire to be inside on SL as well as in my RL, but it does happen to give me a space to take photos, and that makes me quite happy! One of the things I love the most about makeup on Second Life is the fact that it can change your appearance by so much, that if you have a wide variety, you rarely need more than a couple skins. Today is a perfect example! I have been raving about the Powder Pack, LeLutka addition and this post will be no different. SlackGirl has three new releases for the pack and I am completely in LOVE with each one, including the Smokelady shadow I am wearing here. Each shadow and liner are expertly created with gorgeous colors and an exceptional attention to detail. They blend well and the colors are to die for, as are the Nude Glosses from Pink Fuel. Amidst the ruins of what used to be - Addams, Truth, Glam Affair, unKindness, The Epiphany, Izzie's

If you have traveled out west to Arizona then you know that the blending of cultures is sometimes almost seamless here with Spanish Missions falling to ruins on Native lands, and vice versa. History has shown missionaries and the like bringing their Christian beliefs to the indigenous people of the West, with many embracing the new religion while continuing to follow their own traditions, making this area very rich in blended cultures. I was excited to find The Epiphany up and running upon my return so I could do some shopping and do a little bit of catch up after being gone for three months. And I was absolutely blown away by some of the offerings available only at the event, including this absolutely gorgeous ensemble from Addams. With the release of unKindness's Pueblo Viejo for the event I jumped at the chance to pick up this outfit so I could put the Native Princess beside the Spanish Mission, creating a capture you can find duplicated throughout the history of art in the Southwest.

The Zara Collection by Addams comes with a necklace, bracelets, top and pants with several different color combinations as well as a RARE color, featured here on the top, at a reasonable pull price, meaning you won't break the bank trying to get your favorite ensemble put together. I love the fit on both pieces and the detailing and texturing is absolutely exquisite! If you happened to pass by the gacha and not stop do yourself a favor and head on back and grab yours today, I promise you won't be disappointed! Truth has three different hairs available for The Epiphany all in one gacha, and I was tickled pink to get the RARE on my first pull, which means I am coveting the reds at the moment, and we know how much I love being a fiery redhead! I love the flow and detailing on all three hairs but this one works well with most outfits with little cutting into the body, it is the perfect hair for a long, soft, silhouette, so hurry and pick one up for yourself!

Upon my return I was delighted to see a trinket from Petit Chat. The event has already ended but I know it will be making it's way to the store shortly and I think everyone needs to get their hands on this fantastic new necklace. Taking a break from the winds of change to remind myself to breathe

For those of you who have been following my blog for a bit, you know I HATE change in any form, whether for good or bad. I am like a dog that hates to be walked on a leash; ass end down with claws digging into the ground refusing to be moved. Recently, however, I have had to be like a Weeping Willow blowing in the winds of change, reminding myself to breathe and allow myself to be swept away. In case you haven't been following along, the last few months have brought about a new relationship, that I also gained another teenage boy with, a brand-new computer, and as of last night, the boyfriend and I bought a new vehicle! Which in the grand scheme of things, as I look forward to my future, is HUGE! Granted, it isn't brand new, and actually it's 14 years old, but we stumbled into one of those finds of a lifetime; a 2002 Yukon that has been used by an 80+ year old woman to get groceries for the last 14 years and then parked in a garage and out of the hot Arizona sun. It was never our intention to get something that old, or in fact, another SUV, but with the incredibly low mileage, near mint condition inside and outside and the smoking good deal we were offered, we couldn't pass it up. But after 6 hours at and around the dealership looking at all kinds of vehicles and then not being able to sleep until the wee hours of the morning because of that high you get after purchasing something like that, my body and my mind needed a break.

I realized as I sat down again in this chair today in a tucked away corner of my home I hadn't once taken time out of my day to just breathe. That is usually the first thing out of my mouth to friends when they are stressed or going to fast, "Remember to breathe." Now that seems like a stupid comment I know, but think about it for a moment. When we are going nonstop, and the stress level is bordering on critical we rarely stop and concentrate on our breathing. In fact, most of the time people's breathing gets more shallow and rapid, making your blood pressure rise which just adds to the issues, so it's important to take just a few beats of your heart and concentrate on ten long, deep breaths. I took my own advice finally, after the work space cleared this afternoon and I feel incredibly better. It doesn't take away the stressors, but it does remind you to slow down, even for a moment, which is sometimes all we need when the kettle is about to boil over. I also am a big fan of retail therapy, and most often with me, that comes in the form of extravagant and nonsensical shoes, in SL and RL. Rayne had the perfect ones for my mood this weekend and you just have to go pick yourself up a pair or two, or maybe all of them! "Love is not in our choice but in our fate." - John Dryden

For many years now I have firmly believed that love is an ever elusive creature, hard to catch and even harder to keep. Once upon a time I had my fairy tale wedding with lofty dreams of a beautiful forever that was crushed by the darkness of abuse. Though I have been in a couple of relationships since, I never got married again and in some ways I don't think I ever will, in the traditional sense of the word. I hate the fact that the government tells me I have to have a piece of paper to declare my love for someone, and that others are denied the same right. Love is something to be celebrated, not hidden; to stand in front of your friends, family and what ever higher power you embrace is the purest and truest way to show your love. No piece of paper can ever take the place of a true celebration of love, no matter what the government tells people.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you know about the recent attacks in Florida and other places in the country at LGBT events, which in reality have been attacks on love. I sit in front of my computer and read the stories and events and I am horrified that in this advanced society we live in, that people are still persecuted simply for the fact they love someone of the same sex. In my opinion, we have much bigger problems in this country to be worried about than love. Because in the end that is what all this boils down to, the fact that love is love, no matter what form it comes in. If you are lucky enough in this lifetime to find love, as long as it isn't with children or animals ( I do draw SOME lines people!), then celebrate it and enjoy the precious gift you have been given. The Pulse Charity Event runs through the 12th of the month and all proceeds go to Equality Florida to support the victims and families of the Orlando shooting. Everyone needs a comfortable place to relax and unwind

I don't know about all of you, but a place to call my own, that is just for relaxing, is incredibly important to me. And if you happen to be able to create that space outside this Summer, then you are truly blessed. Being out in nature and able to experience the sun on your face, the wind in your hair and the soft twitter of the birds means you can care for your entire being as you unwind. As most of you know, I have been working on my home for some time now, and with recent changes I have been thinking about tearing it all down and starting over, however, I won't be touching my outdoor patio space, as it is the perfect place to relax and unwind with a crisp and refreshing glass of wine and a good book. Sensual beauty in black and white

I love color, as I think you can tell by looking at my blog, but sometimes a photo catches my eye as I take it and I wonder what it would look like in black and white. It is a very rare occasion that I end up posting one of these photos as they just don't seem to capture what I am looking for. As I put together this ensemble the other night I was reminded of an old photo I saw of Mae West back in her prime in a very similar ensemble, and I KNEW this post had to be in black and white. This gorgeous kimono can be picked up at the current round of Collabor88 and comes in several color combinations, with the red and black featured here, as it looks the best in black and white. The jewelry and hair are also current exclusives to the event so if you haven't had a chance to stop by you really should, this round is quite fun and provocative, one of my favorite combinations, after all it is very close to beautiful but deadly!

Lovely Asian Retreat - Pastiche at The Home and Garden Expo

The RFL Home and Garden Expo has been up and running for a week now, and all kinds of exciting events have been taking place! If you haven't had a chance to check out the event, then do yourself a favor and head on over today, and do it around 4pm SLT so you can be there for the lantern release. If you don't know about this amazing event, then let me tell you a little about this amazing event! Ever year the Home and Garden Expo has every exhibitor create two donation items with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. This year, they have added a gacha area, where with very pull you donate half of what you spend as well, meaning this is a wonderful chance to give back a little to those who need it the most!

Today I am featuring gorgeous releases from Pastiche, exclusively for the event. The Asian Dark Wood Teahouse is wonderfully constructed with elegant wallpaper decorating two of the walls inside and 100% of your purchase will be donated to the American Cancer Society. If you are looking for something a bit brighter then make sure to check out the event exclusive which is the fabulous Teahouse in red. Pastiche has also created this gorgeous tea table and pillow that also happens to come with a placemat which has a menu offering several food selections. The rest of the decor was picked up earlier this month at The Chapter Four, but with it's recent closing I would check the store. I honestly have to say I don't know where Glam Affair is putting their newest home and garden creations but I would head by the store to check it out!
