"Mirror, mirror on the wall Who's the baddest of them all?" Madonna - Featuring K-tarsis, Truth, Glam Affair, Emberotic's Fashion Designs

I don't know if the rest of you parents are free yet, but school has started here in northern Arizona and I am finally free from one of the teens! Yay! But the one who graduated in June is still tagging along as I come into town, and we continue to have appointments with docs and people for the house, as well as that dreaded word J O B, for an 18 year old. But he's been starting to look a bit harder but I am sure that has something to do with the threats of having to move out that are prompting those, but the rule in the house is either you are in school or you have a job, so the party is about to be over, and then I will be able to sit back, organize all the goodies and be able to breathe and not feel like I am always running to catch up with blogging! I think the light at the end of the tunnel has me feeling a bit feisty again and in those moods I have a mix on youtube I always go to so I can wiggle along as I blog and yesterday as I donned this ensemble the mix came on and a certain song went on replay, which means I just HAD to share!

Mirror, mirror on the wall Who's the baddest of them all

I have fallen in love with all the new tattoo releases from the fabulous K-tarsis, and wanted to show this one off, since I seem to be running around in them when not blogging! If you don't know the name, I promise you will soon because the designs are absolutely amazing and come for almost all the mesh bodies out there, male and female!! The Mandala design is elegant, sexy and is perfect for those plunging, cleavage revealing designs you wear to the club year round. So do yourself a favor and stop by the store, you won't be disappointed!

The Darkness Monthly Event started on the 5th and runs until the end of the month, so you have some time to go wander around still, but do yourself a favor and check out the newest release from Emberotic's Fashion Designs, an exclusive for the event. The Temptation Low V-cut dress and fishnets with heels are available for several mesh bodies, making a perfectly snug fitting club dress! I love the flirty fishnets and of course the impossibly short hemline and daring neckline, making it the penultimate clubbing dress! So if you are looking to add a little bit of sexy to your wardrobe then head on over to the event and do some serious shopping! Speaking of shopping, I have been picking up skins lately more than pretty much anything, including this gorgeous new design from Glam Affair, exclusively available at the current round of Uber! As usual the HUD includes a plethora of options for brows, eyes and lips, making it very versatile, and a gorgeous base for almost all make ups, and Uber is also where you can get your hands on this truly stunning hair from Truth! The Margarita comes with an amazing Styling HUD giving you a ton of options so you don't have to go buying 6 different hairs, only the 1, which also happens to come with flower accessories, which only adds to the allure of this hair, and as always Truth has stunning Reds, and we know that means it will always make it's way into my hair closet!

"Shower me with your love, all of every day." - Featuring Petit Chat and Truth

Today is one of those days that apparently my heart just wants to march to the beat of it's own drummer, with no rhyme or reason, at least not that I can find! And as usual it has me in a bit of an odd mood, but not a bad one, more like playful and whimsical. I'm sure my kids would tell you I am in full smart ass mode, but I of course, am trying to sugar coat it a bit. But life, as it is, has been showing it's ugly face and a long time ago I decided to meet these moments with levity and a wry sense of humor, while at the same time, being in the arms of the man I love, surrounded by my kids and friends is where I long to be. That place where all the stress melts away for a few moments and you can simply breathe with those who know you best. A time to close your eyes, take a long deep breath and let their love rain down on you.

Shower me with your love, all of every day

Butterfly

In my mother's house
There's a photograph
Of a day gone past
Always makes me laugh
There's a little girl
Wary of the world
She got much to learn
Get her fingers burned
An affinity
Between you and me
Cause we're family
Said that I'd be fine
Give me all your time
And I left your side
Like a butterfly

Shower me with your love
All of everyday
You make the red rose sun
Shine on me
Lift me up so high
Watch me fly away
Would you live your life
Like a butterfly

In my mother's house
There was happiness
I wrapped my myself in it
Was my chrysalis
As my life unfolds
See a pattern through
Of you protecting me
And I protecting you
What was that you'd say
Make your own mistakes
And when you're grown
Make sure that you remain the same
Now I realise
What was on your mind
When I left your side
Like a butter fly

Shower me with your love
All of everyday
You make the red rose sun
Shine on me
Lift me up so high
Watch me fly away
Give me life
Like a butterfly

Shower me with your love
All of everyday
You make the red rose sun
Shine on me
Lift me up so high
Watch me fly away
Give me life
Like a butterfly

If you are a little bit of a bohemian like I am, or you love flirty, feminine accessories, then you seriously need to hurry over to the current round of The Chapter Four and pick up this beautiful new headband from Petit Chat. The Abigail Headband comes with a HUD with 8 options on 5 parts. As usual every part of this design can be customized to fit your mood or ensemble and make sure to check out the notecard in your package about further customization techniques. The textures are expertly done and with the amount of choices on the HUD it is incredibly versatile, making it a wonderful addition to every accessory collection! And if you haven't noticed, there is a trend towards having Styling HUDS that come with different hairs, offering different styles in one purchase, which for me, is absolutely NEEDED! I have fallen in love with the newest release from Truth @ Uber and all the styles you can choose just by buying one hair, so hurry over and check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed!

If you have been reading along lately, then you know I am completely in love with the newest Powder Pack release, which means I just had to show off some more of the wonderful things inside this pack, but FIRST I have to tell you where to get this AMAZING skin! The Mesh Body Addicts Fair started on the 1st and will run through the 21st, so you have time to get over there, but if you do then be sure to check out the newest releases from Alaskametro, exclusive to the event. With appliers for several mesh heads, and of course OMEGA appliers as well for the head and body, you are sure to find a shade of the "Fit" body skin and "Sunny" face applier to fit your needs. If you are looking for exciting and daring Summer makeup to accompany your ensembles this season then make sure to check out the newest release from Studio Exposure for the LeLutka Powder Pack for August. Celebrating the MadPea International Food Fair with Kaerri

Over the weekend my blog hit 100k in visitors, and I sadly missed it since I don't get to check in on the weekends, but with my return today I decided to celebrate the numbers turning to the six digits by talking about the MadPea International Food Fair currently happening on the grid.  The event runs through March 4th and happens to be benefiting and amazing cause, Feed a Smile.  This is the first time this event has run on the grid, but you won't be disappointed by the number of top creators from across the grid participating in this amazing event!  Designers are selling food themed items and gachas during the event with with 50% of all profits going to help build a kitchen in Rhonda Slums of Nakuru, Kenya.  So do yourself a favor, and the children of Nakuru, and head on over to the event, you won't be disappointed.  Whether you are into live music shows and DJ's, art, or simply want to come peruse the items and donate as you can, then head on over to the MadPea International Food Fair and their website >HERE< and get all the details today!

Kaerri offers up this absolutely GORGEOUS collection for the event, offering several pieces to decorate your home or garden with, as well as several scrumptious food dishes that have my mouth watering!  I have a feeling many of these pieces will be finding their way into permanent homes on my property, as soon as I get it decorated that is.  The overall texturing and attention to detailing is exquisite with the colors blending well with each other, tying each piece together with the next, creating a soothing and tropical oasis for you to relax into.

If you are having a party any time soon, or enjoy having your kitchen look a little lived in, then grab the food pieces while you can, you will be stunned at home real these textures look, I know I am.  And now that this post has made me thoroughly hungry I am going to head off and grab a late lunch, but while I do that head on over to the event and get your MadPea on!

Happy Valentine's Day - featuring Marquesse, Noodles, No.Match, Empyrean Forge, Virtual Diva, ClaVv, The Epiphany

Today is one of those days I absolutely despised when I was single because it made me feel a little left out I guess.  This year, though not single, I have come to discover that today is just another day if you happen to be in a relationship where you are consistently showing your significant other how you feel.  The boyfriend and I just celebrated 9 months together last week, and like all the other months before hand, we exchanged cards, had dinner and reminded each other why we fell in love in the first place.  So when the sun rose this morning on this day of love I simply said, "Good Morning," because for us, it is just another day.  I might have picked up something different for dinner tonight, and I might have picked up a card sometime earlier this month just because I liked what it had to say, but for the most part Valentine's Day is every day in my life, and it should be for you too.  No one should ever have to worry about where they stand in a relationship, they should know every day by the gestures that are made.  Whether it's simply walking around to open the car door for you when going out for groceries, or picking up your favorite soda when your stomach is upset, or getting up early to take the car into the shop so you don't have to.  These are the simply things, the little things that matter the most, not some grand gesture thought of at the last minute because someone reminded you it's Valentine's Day.  If you truly love the one you are with, then show them that for you, every day is Valentine's Day because you are blessed to have them in your life.

If you are looking to stun your significant other tonight, or perhaps someone you would like to take that roll, then do yourself a favor and check out this absolutely stunning new release from Marquesse.  The dress is very well made with a lovely, plunging neckline that is sure to distract that special someone this evening.  The dress comes in three colors with matching boot styled heels which happen to bring this ensemble together quite nicely, especially with the thigh baring slit that shows off the gorgeous shoes made to accompany the dress.  The beading along the bodice and straps is wonderful, adding a bit of sparkle to this elegantly draped gown.  I spent a bit of time accessorizing this gown because I didn't want anything to overpower the look so I was thrilled when I stumbled upon this delicate new necklace combination from Noodles, available at Cosmopolitan.  The necklace HUD allows you to change the pieces to match your ensemble, so hurry on over and pick yours up, I promise you won't be disappointed!  And if you happen to be a lover of Empyrean Forge, then hurry to FaMESHed to see the newest pieces.  The Fortuna Collection comes with a wide variety of pieces, but I fell in love with the bracelets, and since my jewelry box is overflowing, I didn't splurge on the whole set, at least not yet!  There are two bracelets in each pack, making them incredibly versatile, especially after you start playing with the HUD to create your own look!

With my return and the introduction of BENTO, you can imagine I have been spending hours up on the platform tweaking the sliders to get the perfect look.  I discovered that with different appliers, the same face can look incredibly different!  I happen to stop by DeeTaleZ quite often to see what has been moved into the sale area and I was tickled pink to see the Angel applier from earlier in 2016 has made it to the sale room and for only 850L I picked up another skin, and I absolutely ADORE it!  If you haven't been by the sale room at the store, go wander, especially if you wear LeLutka, and see what you can find!  You won't be disappointed!!!  Happy shopping and I hope you have a wonderful evening with your significant other, or soon to be!  You deserve it!

Amidst the ruins of what used to be - Addams, Truth, Glam Affair, unKindness, The Epiphany, Izzie's

If you have traveled out west to Arizona then you know that the blending of cultures is sometimes almost seamless here with Spanish Missions falling to ruins on Native lands, and vice versa.  History has shown missionaries and the like bringing their Christian beliefs to the indigenous people of the West, with many embracing the new religion while continuing to follow their own traditions, making this area very rich in blended cultures.  I was excited to find The Epiphany up and running upon my return so I could do some shopping and do a little bit of catch up after being gone for three months.  And I was absolutely blown away by some of the offerings available only at the event, including this absolutely gorgeous ensemble from Addams.  With the release of unKindness's Pueblo Viejo for the event I jumped at the chance to pick up this outfit so I could put the Native Princess beside the Spanish Mission, creating a capture you can find duplicated throughout the history of art in the Southwest.

The Zara Collection by Addams comes with a necklace, bracelets, top and pants with several different color combinations as well as a RARE color, featured here on the top, at a reasonable pull price, meaning you won't break the bank trying to get your favorite ensemble put together.  I love the fit on both pieces and the detailing and texturing is absolutely exquisite!  If you happened to pass by the gacha and not stop do yourself a favor and head on back and grab yours today, I promise you won't be disappointed!  Truth has three different hairs available for The Epiphany all in one gacha, and I was tickled pink to get the RARE on my first pull, which means I am coveting the reds at the moment, and we know how much I love being a fiery redhead!  I love the flow and detailing on all three hairs but this one works well with most outfits with little cutting into the body, it is the perfect hair for a long, soft, silhouette, so hurry and pick one up for yourself!

Upon my return I was delighted to see a trinket from Petit Chat.  The event has already ended but I know it will be making it's way to the store shortly and I think everyone needs to get their hands on this fantastic new necklace.  The Vintage Bows necklace comes in two versions, Heavy and Thin, meaning you will find the perfect fit, OH and it is Unisex as well, so even the men can have a casual, vintage look to accompany yours.  Every piece can be customized to your liking by simply changing the color, or playing with Glow and Transparency in Edit mode, making it an incredibly versatile piece of jewelry that just has to make it into your jewelry box!  And to complete the look make sure to stop by Izzie's and grab the Metallic Arrow tattoo to enhance your look once your picked up the Zara collection from Addams!

Sometimes when you get lost, you find the most amazing things - unKindness, The Epiphany

As most of you know, I have had an unexpected vacation from Second Life and blogging since the start of November due to a slow recovery from surgery.  I am finally starting to feel like myself again which means I have been getting back up to speed with all of the new changes that have come to SL in my absence, and spending time playing with the new Bento heads.  It is almost like starting all over when you have been away for awhile but as the creator of unKindness said earlier today, "the changes and advances continue to challenge creators to try and do more," which I have to completely agree with, especially as I wandered out onto the grid the past few days.  Everything looks new, and it has even inspired me to push myself a bit further for the year of 2017.  I stated last year that 2016 was going to be my year of learning, I just never expected it to be more about my health than my future on Second Life, but I think this is the year I focus a bit more and start to spread my wings a bit.

I feel like I have been lost for the past few months, which most of you know is something I like to do anyway, to be honest, because blogging has become more than a hobby for me, it is where I can release stress and unwind while tapping into my creative side, hoping to find a bit of genius there, or at least brilliance! (winks)  One of the very first things I opened once I returned was the amazing La Viejo Gacha Collection from unKindness, that is currently available at The Epiphany, through the 15th of the month, and I just had to share it with you all!

This amazing collection is perfect for a picture taking sim, or just an addition to your land, if looking to add a bit of rustic flair with a Spanish influence.  Each piece has very low land impact, meaning you can decorate without worrying about crashing your land or lagging everyone to death.  Each piece is incredibly well made with a wonderful attention to detail, with every piece created to accent the others, creating an entire town that flows no matter how you decide to put it together.  Do yourself a favor and head on over to the event before it's too late, because you won't be able to get your hands on the Gallows for the Pueblo Viejo set, as it is an exclusive to the event and won't be sold again!

And they called it puppy love...

Fall has definitely fallen in Second Life as Winter starts to nip at my heels here in Northern Arizona and I have to say I am absolutely loving the creations popping up all over the grid, including this stunning new Gazebo set from [CIRCA] and the ADORABLE Pupkin Gacha collection from unKindness!

[CIRCA] brings you two new release collections at their secondary main store, with the gazebo perfect for any season, and the wonderful accessories and pumpkin collection will turn any outdoor area into a Fall oasis, setting the perfect location to set up your Pupkins, from unKindness, which are currently only available at the current round of The Epiphany.  There are several colors and styles available via gacha, with The Princess and The Spartan being the RARES, which come with color change menus, meaning will always have your favorite puppy color combo!  I have fallen in love with them all, I think they call that puppy love, and I promise if you take a stroll by my land you will see these guys peeking out from every corner and around every tree!

"Long afloat on shipless oceans; I did all my best to smile. 'Til your singing eyes and fingers, drew me loving to your isle." Song to the Siren

Some songs, no matter how long ago it was since you last heard them, stay with you.  Their words, their meaning, the melody lingers in the recesses of your mind until the chords once again dance upon the air and filter through the grey matter.  For some reason today, one of those songs came playing through my head as I wandered along the beach at Baja Sands looking for the perfect spot to take my photo.  If you haven't ever heard "Song to the Siren", by any of the artists who have covered it over the years, then take a moment and let this hauntingly beautiful melody impress itself upon your memory.

Song to the Siren
Long afloat on shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
'Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle
And you sang
Sail to me
Sail to me
Let me enfold you
Here I am
Here I am
Waiting to hold you
Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you hare when I was fox?
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken lovelorn on your rocks,
For you sing, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow:
O my heart, O my heart shies from the sorrow"
I am puzzled as the newborn child
I am troubled at the tide:
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Should I lie with death my bride?
Hear me sing, "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you:
Here I am, here I am, waiting to hold you"

One of the things I have been working on with my photography is improving my closeups, since they always seem to look a bit off.  Today, I have to say I am quite pleased with this capture especially with how fantastic the new pieces from IT! look, and these amazing eyes from Lone Wolf Studio!  The Aloha Fair has been up and running for a little bit now, which means you are running out of time to head over and grab the gifties out and about at the booths as well as this gorgeous new jewelry collection from IT! (Indulge Temptation).  The Pretty Dolphins collection is available in a multitude of color combinations to choose from, so you are sure to find a favorite, or do yourself a favor and grab them all, you will not be disappointed!  The Dark Chamber opens August 7th and runs through the 27th, which is where you will find these dark and mysterious eyes from Lone Wolf Studio.  The Bogeyman eyes are an exclusive to the event, but there is also a gacha, so make sure to check out all the goodies when the event opens.  I know most of you have probably been by The Epiphany at this point, but I have to once again rave about this hair from Truth!  I was lucky enough to have picked up the RARE, and I just love everything about it!  The fit over the breasts is perfect, especially when you are trying to cover up those pink parts, for whatever reason, mine happens to be to keep my blog PG but also because I just love the long, sexy line it makes when you are going topless.  The bangs are an add-on, and they soften the look of the hair, which means they create two very different looks with one hair, so hurry up and get on over and play the gacha and see what you get!

The storms are starting to settle in again here in the mountains of Arizona, which seems to be the daily standard lately.  And I think I am going to take a bit of time and relax for awhile, recharge my batteries and enjoy the melancholia that tends to set in at the end of the Summer.  Unlike most parents who seem to be celebrating the return of kids to school, I am dreading it because I truly love spending time with the boys.  Running around doing yard work, watching movies, discussing the world; these are all moments I cherish, and the days here in the office will be a bit quiet without them around.  Have a wonderfully wicked rest of your day and remember to always stay true to your style and make today's fashion trends work for you! ~Jade~

"Just the thought of you can make me smile." Uncle Kracker

I woke up yesterday morning with a song playing through my head and it hasn't made it's way out yet, which of course means I am going to end up sharing it with you all.  It doesn't seem to matter how I feel, or what kind of day it is, when I open my eyes and look across the bed, all I can do is smile.  I haven't felt like that in a very long time, and I sometimes wonder if I have actually ever been this completely satisfied with every area of my life.  It is a new and glorious feeling and I seriously hope it doesn't end any time soon.  I find myself up earlier than normal for me since the alarm goes off at 5:30 am to send the bread winner off to work, so I end up slowly crawling out of bed, getting dressed and heading into town to work.  I love those early morning hours when the sun still hasn't warmed the air too much; the birds are in constant melodic conversation and the bunnies scamper across the yard in droves.  I like to sit out on the back steps and watch all the wildlife on their morning commutes to wherever they go, it seems to bring me a bit of peace to see that the whole animal kingdom has their jobs to do, especially as I haul my butt into town to sit at my computer and work, but there is this strange little thing I wear as an accessory these days, a perpetual smile that tugs at the corners of my mouth.  People have been telling me it looks good on me, and I have to agree.

As the end of the month closes in on me, I have been scrambling to make sure I have met all my blogging requirements for my sponsors, and with it being my first month back, I am a little behind.  Which has me frantically trying to get everything done today and tomorrow, which is never my style, so I am a bit out of sorts.  Virtual Diva has been pumping out amazing releases this month, including eyes and a gown for group gifts as well as a gorgeous swimsuit, hair and jewelry released for the July round of Swank, which I am pretty sure has ended, but make sure to try there first.  If they have closed up for the month then check the store next week after Angel has time to get the designs up in the store.  The Bibi hair is elegantly draped to the side with loose curls and comes in a wide variety of colors, so you are sure to find your favorite.  I love how it doesn't cut into the neck, which seems to be a problem with a lot of hairs that drape snugly, AND you get to show off your favorite earrings and necklaces!  Upon my return I jumped into the blogger group for RAYNE Couture and grabbed all the goodies I could, so even though I wasn't around for their releases, I could still share with you some of the absolutely stunning designs released over the Summer.  The Banjo Top and Banjo Pants are perfect for those Summer nights in lovely Linen and a variety of colors.  I just love these pants and have been out and about on the grid wearing them with several different tops, making them an incredibly versatile addition to your closet and a MUST HAVE on my list!  The tied, button-down shirt has fantastic detailing on the pockets and a perfectly relaxed collar.  Do yourself a favor and stop by RAYNE Couture today and check out all of the newest releases, and make sure to spend some time investigating the incredibly appointed SIM surrounding the store, it is well worth your time.

When Second Life and Real Life Collide

For the first time in all my years online I have a real life boyfriend who happens to be incredibly supportive of what I do, which I am truly thankful for but lately, with it being Summer, my posts find me with far less clothes on than normal and today I had, in my opinion, a rather amusing conversation.  As I sat down to do my post for the day, I showed him the photos I had already set up and asked his opinion on which one I should do first.  I chose to do a furniture post, but in the grouping of photos happens to be another bikini and tattoos picture.  Out of the mouth of my oh so supportive man suddenly came the following, "Why do you have to wear so little in what seems like ALL your posts?  Do you always have to be half naked?"  To which I responded with a few minutes of hysterical laughter, but the look on his face said he wasn't really kidding.  I had to take a step back for a moment and consider his position on the matter, and I still find it amusing.  Now maybe this is because I see "Jade" as an entity outside myself, a character I have created who happens to resemble me a tiny bit in my younger years, and who happens to share my personality simply because I have chosen to just be me, not a persona online; or maybe it's simply because I have been online for so many years and have gotten desensitized to what I do, I'm really not sure, but I have a hard time taking him seriously.  And I don't want to belittle his feelings on the matter, I am truly trying to see his point of view, but on this I think we will end up having to agree to disagree.  Being a blogger is different than just running around the grid half naked and role playing with people in say strip clubs or music venues, etc, there is rarely an exchange between people unless you happen to be doing a couples pose or something along those lines, so I don't think it crosses any real or imagined relationship boundaries.  But if my partner does, how far do I bend in my work to keep him from feeling the way he is at the moment?  I am a firm believer in bending in relationships, as it allows each person to still have what they want, to a certain extent and one person doesn't feel like they are always compromising while the other stands steadfast in their resolve.  So I went through my blog and my photos and showed him that I very rarely tiptoe into waters that make my blog have more than a PG-13 rating, and he was much happier.  I have a feeling he thought my blog was bordering on too risque for him, and with us both having an online presence, just in different ways, he felt that would be crossing a bit of a boundary for him.  And when you are in love, if your partner feels like a boundary could be crossed or has been crossed in their eyes, then you have inflicted damage that will take a long time to heal.  But if you discuss those moments rationally when you don't see eye to eye it's amazing how much you discover about each other, because no one loves the same, which is why love is so intricately and infinitely beautiful.

I very rarely go nuts over a gacha, ok, I lie, but seriously, there aren't that many I will play until I have all the pieces, and Foxes Traveling Heart gacha currently at The Epiphany saw me playing until I had everything, then I went home, unpacked all my extras, got my points and scampered on back to pick up the exclusive.  Which is now set up on the back part of my property because I absolutely adore every piece, and I love how well they mix with some of my other well loved boho pieces, including the new pillows from unKindness that you can pick up at the current round of Shiny Shabby.

If you happen to be a lover of the boho culture and design do yourself a favor and check out The Epiphany and Shiny Shabby's current rounds because I promise you will find all kinds of goodies to decorate your secluded relaxation spot or trendy boho home.

"We will carve our place into time and space We will find our way, or we'll make a way." Alessia Cara

As my son approaches that golden hour of adult hood where he will head out on his own,  I find myself repeating the same things over and over again.  We seem to be in a constant conversation about finding himself and making his way outside of the "popular" crowd to a place where being different is okay and actually encouraged.  I have heard my generation are now called Helicopter parents and I now understand what that means.  Those of us born in the 70's who came of age in the 80's seem to hover around our children because as kids most homes had both parents working, which led to a lot of unsupervised hours with us latchkey kids.  We did it all and saw it all and know exactly what our children can get up to in those times when an adult isn't looking, so of course we tend to hover and circle.  Which means I am quite involved in almost all areas of his life, including some he would rather I have nothing to do with, but nonetheless no topic seems to be unreachable for us.  Though at times I have to bite my tongue, the fact my 17 year old talks to me is an accomplishment.  I never had the kind of relationship he and I have with my own parents until I was well into my 20's and I regret all those wasted years.  People have always said you can't be friends with your kids, and in some ways that is true, and in others it is not.  If you can maintain the level of respect due to a parent and still function as more of a friend then you can have the best of both worlds with your kids, at least that is what I believe strongly.  Which means you get to encourage them in ways you can't as just a parent and it opens up amazing lines of communication, so you get to have pretty amazing moments as your child discovers themselves.  I was always living a little bit left of center, and though "popular" by most high school standards, I didn't run with the "IN" crowd.  I was always a bit different in my style, my thoughts, and opinions and tended to be drawn to those on the outside looking in, with me.  Being strong enough to wade through those waters of bullies and teasing; snobs and jocks; alternatives, stoners, punks and have friends in all groups has a lot to do with who I have become and I pride myself on being a surprise to people, because who I am is never quite what people expect upon first glance.  I truly believe that those who live on the fringe, those some would call imperfect, are the ones with true beauty and who live their lives authentically.  Though the words have been a bit twisted over the years, Jacob Nordby's original phrasing rings clear like a bell in the night whose melody ripples through time like those on a still lake after a stone is tossed.

Beatitudes for the Weird

– Jacob Nordby –
Blessed are the weird people
—poets, misfits, writers, mystics
heretics, painters & troubadours—
for they teach us to see the world through different eyes.
Blessed are those who embrace the intensity of life’s pain and pleasure,
for they shall be rewarded with uncommon ecstasy.
Blessed are ye who see beauty in ugliness,
for you shall transform our vision of how the world might be.
Blessed are the bold and whimsical,
for their imagination shatters ancient boundaries of fear for us all.
Blessed are ye who are mocked for unbridled expression of love in all its forms,
because your kind of crazy is exactly that freedom for which the world is unconsciously begging.
Blessed are those who have endured breaking by life,
for they are the resplendent cracks through which the light shines.

Drop dead curves never go out of style

In case you have just started following along here then let me take a moment to let you in on a little something about my style.  On an everyday casual basis, I love the Bohemian, artistic, layered look that combines textures, colors and really different fashion "styles."  For more formal occasions and back when I used to work out in the "corporate" world, that carefree look I covet becomes much more tailored but classic.  When asked what era I think I should have been born in, I have to be honest and say the Roaring 20's, preferably in Chicago at the height of the mob.  The gorgeous curves of a woman were emphasized and embraced by the form fitting styles of the time leaving more to the imagination than by baring more skin.  This stunning dress from Glitterati by Sapphire is very classically styled with a daring, plunging, modern neckline that is sure to draw attention, and guess what?!  The dress is on sale this weekend for ONLY 60L, which means, what are you waiting for?!  If you love well made, classic, curve hugging designs at a steal then this dress needs to be in your closet today so hurry, the sale ends tomorrow!

Telling the story of the divine feminine through the hypnotic roll of her hips

I have always been fascinated by the story of Salome and her dance of the Seven Veils; of how some say Christianity grew quickly in some areas because of the overly righteous and pure men of power who couldn't handle the brazen sexuality displayed in the dance of their culture and how the mystical allure of a dance celebrating women's power became known as the dance of the Jezebel, the "whore".  I love that in the past decade belly-dancing has once again been noticed by people all over the world as an art from requiring intense dedication and creativity.  To dance the dance of Salome and Jezebel is to bring forth the inner power of the divine feminine; to celebrate what it truly means to be a woman through a wonderfully emotional and evocative dance.
"The Gypsy Dancer appears to be free from the societal constraints. The Gypsy as the Wild Woman archetype has magical powers, powers which make her dangerous. She is out-of-control, or at least beyond the control of the patriarchy. She evokes fear, especially in the subconscious where the Wild Woman lurks within us all. We are afraid to let her out because we may loose control." - Laurel Victoria Gray

"Do you know what happens when an Arabian woman dances? She does not dance: she protests, she loves, she cries, she makes love, she dreams, she goes away from her reality, to her own world, where love is really meant and she does not want to come back, because that is her reality."Armand Nassery, writer and filmmaker

“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” – Saint Augustine

I truly believe that every person dreams of traveling to far off places, no matter if they rest their heads on a quiet street in a tiny town no one has ever heard of, or on the busiest street in New York, Los Angeles, London, or Tokyo.  Just the idea of being somewhere new, where you gain a bit of anonymity intrigues me and even though I have traveled the world, it has been many years since I have headed off with no destination in mind, parenthood will do that to you after all.  But I still dream of places I haven't been, and of places that hold memories, and one day I hope to head out again with the sole purpose of getting lost.

A journey, after all, neither begins in the instant we set out, nor ends when we have reached our door step once again. It starts much earlier and is really never over, because the film of memory continues running on inside of us long after we have come to a physical standstill. Indeed, there exists something like a contagion of travel, and the disease is essentially incurable.
Ryszard Kapuściński, Travels with Herodotus

But don't get lost on the grid right now, not with all the fantastic events still running and the ones soon to begin.  I have spent some time at Shiny Shabby and The Epiphany over the last week which has ended up with me being happily broke, but they are well worth the trip!  If you are looking for some new pieces for your home then head on over to the events today and get your hands on some wonderful goodies!

Needing to take a bit of a time out in my inspirational corner

I don't know about most of you but I use Facebook for the majority of my promotional work for my blog as well as for the shop I work for, and the last ten days have proven frustrating.  Apparently someone can report you for spam and Facebook just blocks without researching, which means I have had a whopping two whole days of being able to share posts in groups.  I am so frustrated at the moment that I honestly am having a hard time finding my creativity.  Luckily for me I started designing this space prior to my annoyance, which means I have a gorgeous spot to sit, breathe and relax while I try and come up with some solutions for the issue currently at hand.

As the month comes to a close in a few more days, so do many of the months events as well, which means you better get on your shopping shoes and head on out before it's too late.  This gorgeous bench is from unKindness as well as the iron wall pieces and you can only find them at the current round of The Liaison Collaborative that ends on the 30th.  The Old World Patio Bench comes in PG and Adult versions and has a LI of only 3, and the art pieces only 1LI meaning they can be added to any décor without harming your land prims, which is always a plus in my book.  And if you are looking for another light source for your home or garden then make sure to check out the Lovelace Indoor Trees, also from unKindness, at the Wayward Winter event.  You have four different sets to choose from, and each set comes with two trees, one with lights and one without.  If wanting to get your hands on any of the goodies pictured here then check out the details below and happy shopping!
