Not sure these boots were the right choice for a ride, but I am sure to get some attention! - Marquesse, Level Up!, Salacity

Today is one of the few days I have had time to be at the computer enough to do two blog posts, and of course that has nothing to do with it being the end of the month, and again I am behind.  Beginning to think I need to drop a few sponsors as I continue to deal without having net at home and having to commute into town to blog.  Which of course is the last thing I want to do, since I spent years getting to where I was happy with who I was blogging for etc., but it seems to be something I am going to have to do, since I feel like I am letting so many people down along the way.  Including the amazing creators of Marquesse, who I happen to have not gotten to blog much of in the past couple of months, and I feel I have neglected them, so today I wanted to show off the exclusive release for the Women's Stuff Hunt which begins April 1st.

Feeling a bit rebellious?  Love to show off those assets?  Then do yourself a favor and head by Marquesse's main store tomorrow as the hunt starts and be one of the first to pick up this adorable ensemble.  The jacket, shorts and boots are exclusively for the Maitreya body, so make sure you know what you are grabbing before spending the time looking for the item in the store.  I will say though, I have on my Slink Feet and the boots fit over them perfectly as well as over my Maitreya thighs, which means I was quite pleased!  Though this doesn't exactly fit my normal style, but it is always fun to put on a bit of a character and think about what they would be doing!  And I think Jade is about to venture out onto the grid in this revealing ensemble to get some attention, so if this fits into your life, do yourself a favor and head over and grab yours!

It would be impossible for Jade to head out on a ride if this adorable bike hadn't been created by Salacity poses!  The bike comes with a color changer as well as different poses on the bike, giving it life!  I love the classic styling and the attention to detail is amazing, so go check it out as soon as the next round of Level Up! opens, I promise it will be worth the trip!

Happy Valentine's Day - featuring Marquesse, Noodles, No.Match, Empyrean Forge, Virtual Diva, ClaVv, The Epiphany

Today is one of those days I absolutely despised when I was single because it made me feel a little left out I guess.  This year, though not single, I have come to discover that today is just another day if you happen to be in a relationship where you are consistently showing your significant other how you feel.  The boyfriend and I just celebrated 9 months together last week, and like all the other months before hand, we exchanged cards, had dinner and reminded each other why we fell in love in the first place.  So when the sun rose this morning on this day of love I simply said, "Good Morning," because for us, it is just another day.  I might have picked up something different for dinner tonight, and I might have picked up a card sometime earlier this month just because I liked what it had to say, but for the most part Valentine's Day is every day in my life, and it should be for you too.  No one should ever have to worry about where they stand in a relationship, they should know every day by the gestures that are made.  Whether it's simply walking around to open the car door for you when going out for groceries, or picking up your favorite soda when your stomach is upset, or getting up early to take the car into the shop so you don't have to.  These are the simply things, the little things that matter the most, not some grand gesture thought of at the last minute because someone reminded you it's Valentine's Day.  If you truly love the one you are with, then show them that for you, every day is Valentine's Day because you are blessed to have them in your life.

If you are looking to stun your significant other tonight, or perhaps someone you would like to take that roll, then do yourself a favor and check out this absolutely stunning new release from Marquesse.  The dress is very well made with a lovely, plunging neckline that is sure to distract that special someone this evening.  The dress comes in three colors with matching boot styled heels which happen to bring this ensemble together quite nicely, especially with the thigh baring slit that shows off the gorgeous shoes made to accompany the dress.  The beading along the bodice and straps is wonderful, adding a bit of sparkle to this elegantly draped gown.  I spent a bit of time accessorizing this gown because I didn't want anything to overpower the look so I was thrilled when I stumbled upon this delicate new necklace combination from Noodles, available at Cosmopolitan.  The necklace HUD allows you to change the pieces to match your ensemble, so hurry on over and pick yours up, I promise you won't be disappointed!  And if you happen to be a lover of Empyrean Forge, then hurry to FaMESHed to see the newest pieces.  The Fortuna Collection comes with a wide variety of pieces, but I fell in love with the bracelets, and since my jewelry box is overflowing, I didn't splurge on the whole set, at least not yet!  There are two bracelets in each pack, making them incredibly versatile, especially after you start playing with the HUD to create your own look!

With my return and the introduction of BENTO, you can imagine I have been spending hours up on the platform tweaking the sliders to get the perfect look.  I discovered that with different appliers, the same face can look incredibly different!  I happen to stop by DeeTaleZ quite often to see what has been moved into the sale area and I was tickled pink to see the Angel applier from earlier in 2016 has made it to the sale room and for only 850L I picked up another skin, and I absolutely ADORE it!  If you haven't been by the sale room at the store, go wander, especially if you wear LeLutka, and see what you can find!  You won't be disappointed!!!  Happy shopping and I hope you have a wonderful evening with your significant other, or soon to be!  You deserve it!

The time of year that makes me think of home

Around this time of year, every year, I tend to get a bit nostalgic for where I grew up.  The bonfires on the weekends with the suns rays warming you through the day and a slight chill in the air as the sun sleeps for the evening, making it perfect sweatshirt and jeans weather.  Though I migrated West into the desert, most people forget there are huge mountains out here, with trees that change colors, lose their leaves and SNOW!  As I drive the boys to school in the morning I am stunned by the amazing colors showing up on the mountain as the trees are well into their fabulous Fall display, all seeming to try to out due the other.  But there will always be something missing here where I have made my roots, and I think maybe, for everyone, no matter where you are, it's never quite like home.  I love being able to wear the same things I have all Summer with a sweater added on top, or a pair of leggings on underneath.  It's the perfect time of year for layers, and if you don't like to dress that way, you will learn, because it's the only way to get through a whole day in Northern Arizona because the weather tends to change very rapidly this time of year.  The peaks have already had a dusting of snow, the wood has been split and stacked for the Winter and the flowers are making their last dying effort to provide a little brightness before the bleakness of Winter comes.  No matter where I go, from October to November, I will always miss those Missouri Autumn evenings, growing up in the Boondocks.

For those of you who follow along, I posted the hair, eyes and necklace yesterday, because I hate trying to cover it all in one!  It just seems like the individual pieces don't get the attention they deserve.  So today I am showing off this absolutely adorable new dress and boots collection from KiB Designs.  The Zaira dress comes in a variety of colors via HUD and the boots come in 3 different shades to choose from as well.  I loved the back home, country feel of this ensemble and you can bet I still love to wear boots with skirts and dresses!  The dress is well made with a wonderful attention to detailing meaning you can mix and match it with tons of different jewelry options as well as boots, or heels if you prefer, or maybe a cute pair of flats.  No matter what you choose to accessorize the design with, you won't be disappointed because this is definitely a MUST have for this Fall season, so hurry on over to the store today and get yours today!

"Don't be afraid, take the road less traveled on." - Lauren Aliana

I have never been one to run with the "in" crowd, just because of who they were.  I might have ended up on the fringes due to having friends in those groups, but my friends have always been a very eclectic group of people.  One of the things I have noticed about the majority of those I call friend, is that they never took the path others did, they forged their own way, and took the roads less traveled on, which makes my little rebel heart happy.  As I was wandering around today trying to find a spot to take pictures I realized that even on SL I never take the main road.  I always seem to just head off in one direction or another, through trees, and water, sometimes falling under a SIM, but off the path, in those more hidden places, you often find the hidden gems.  I think that applies to all areas of our lives, to be honest.  Too many people have gone the same direction, followed the exact same path, because someone told them that is how to get there, when in reality, there are a thousand different roads that lead to the same place, you just have to find the perfect one for you!  So, "trust your rebel heart, ride it into battle; don't be afraid, take the road less traveled."

I have gotten so far behind this month with everything going on, that I am playing catch-up and I truly hate that, because I don't want to rush through a post and not give the proper attention to the creators.  For example, these absolutely amazingly detailed eyes are only available for two more days at the Steampunk Carnival from Lone Wolf Studio.  The eyes are expertly designed with hand drawn textures from the creator of Lone Wolf and are unisex, meaning they are perfect for just about everyone!  Whether into the fantasy roleplay side of Second Life or not, these eyes are sure to stun anyone who happens to catch a glance, so hurry on over to the event and grab yours today!  I was quite pleased to see a wonderful piece from Glint in the We Love to Blog group, as I just love getting to blog jewelry from time to time.  The Silver Heart Choker is currently only available at the Outlet SL for 99L, unless of course they have already closed their doors, and if so, then head on over to the store today and check out all the other amazing recent releases!

“The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.” ― Mary Oliver

I love words.  Now that may seem an odd way to start a blog post, but I have been reading more again, which means I have been once again browsing through the musings of my favorite poet, Mary Oliver.  If you don't know who that is, then take some time and do a few searches, read a bit and then head on over to her Facebook page as well, you will be surprised at how many of her phrases you already know simply from meme's on the net.  But today, I rediscovered a favorite, and you can say it was actually an inspiration to me many years ago to become who I am today.
“The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.”
Mary Oliver
I used to have a Monday through Friday job that was pretty predictable, though working with the mentally ill can't ever really be called predictable, and I was always searching for a more creative way to do my job, or ways to bring artistic forms into therapy and counseling.  I was often met with hostility, anger, dismay and sometimes people just blew me off and called me a Hippy, which if you know me, that made me all kinds of happy!  Too many people ignore their creative sides and let them lie dormant, starved to death instead of nurturing them, even in the smallest of ways.  My father isn't a very artistic man, and I wouldn't say outside of a boardroom, very creative.  Which in turn rubbed off on me, and so after high school I stopped dancing and acting, though I continued to sing because I loved it, but life often gets in the way and I stopped singing as well.  I can honestly say, those were some of the darkest years of my life.  I had no time to let my creative energy flow nor did I think I NEEDED to do this, but I can tell you now, you MUST listen to the call of the sprite within you, beckoning you to do whimsical things, you will never regret it.  Whether you call them hobbies, entertainment, or some other words I won't mention, do them!  And do them often!  All of the parts of your soul need tending, and when we let the hustle and bustle of daily life slip away and let our creative juices flow, no matter the outlet you have discovered, it is amazing the things we can discover about ourselves.  In 2008 I heard the chime of my creative bell going off and I decided to do something about it, and started to teach myself Photoshop and learn about creating.  I spent several years designing rooms and furniture on another 3d platform before I came skipping over to Second Life with friends and suddenly I KNEW why the bells had been going off since 2008.  My first love were words.  I love how they flow together, I love the pictures they can create in your mind, and the emotions they can evoke within you.  Everything about them, from the raw, harsh language of the streets to the lofty, pretentious phrasings of the rich, they are all beautiful when woven together into a tapestry.  I think back now and I really can't imagine doing anything else.  Some days I miss working in an office or with other people, but my body decided in 2006 that I was never going to work again like other people in their 9-5 worlds, and I am all right with that now.  For me it became about working smarter, not harder, and blogging and doing promotional work allows me to help other people as well as tap into my creative side with the photography, styling and writing.  In the end, I feel like I am contributing to society in a meaningful way again, through my blogging, at the same time keeping my soul happy, I couldn't ask for anything more!

"We will carve our place into time and space We will find our way, or we'll make a way." Alessia Cara

As my son approaches that golden hour of adult hood where he will head out on his own,  I find myself repeating the same things over and over again.  We seem to be in a constant conversation about finding himself and making his way outside of the "popular" crowd to a place where being different is okay and actually encouraged.  I have heard my generation are now called Helicopter parents and I now understand what that means.  Those of us born in the 70's who came of age in the 80's seem to hover around our children because as kids most homes had both parents working, which led to a lot of unsupervised hours with us latchkey kids.  We did it all and saw it all and know exactly what our children can get up to in those times when an adult isn't looking, so of course we tend to hover and circle.  Which means I am quite involved in almost all areas of his life, including some he would rather I have nothing to do with, but nonetheless no topic seems to be unreachable for us.  Though at times I have to bite my tongue, the fact my 17 year old talks to me is an accomplishment.  I never had the kind of relationship he and I have with my own parents until I was well into my 20's and I regret all those wasted years.  People have always said you can't be friends with your kids, and in some ways that is true, and in others it is not.  If you can maintain the level of respect due to a parent and still function as more of a friend then you can have the best of both worlds with your kids, at least that is what I believe strongly.  Which means you get to encourage them in ways you can't as just a parent and it opens up amazing lines of communication, so you get to have pretty amazing moments as your child discovers themselves.  I was always living a little bit left of center, and though "popular" by most high school standards, I didn't run with the "IN" crowd.  I was always a bit different in my style, my thoughts, and opinions and tended to be drawn to those on the outside looking in, with me.  Being strong enough to wade through those waters of bullies and teasing; snobs and jocks; alternatives, stoners, punks and have friends in all groups has a lot to do with who I have become and I pride myself on being a surprise to people, because who I am is never quite what people expect upon first glance.  I truly believe that those who live on the fringe, those some would call imperfect, are the ones with true beauty and who live their lives authentically.  Though the words have been a bit twisted over the years, Jacob Nordby's original phrasing rings clear like a bell in the night whose melody ripples through time like those on a still lake after a stone is tossed.

Beatitudes for the Weird

– Jacob Nordby –
Blessed are the weird people
—poets, misfits, writers, mystics
heretics, painters & troubadours—
for they teach us to see the world through different eyes.
Blessed are those who embrace the intensity of life’s pain and pleasure,
for they shall be rewarded with uncommon ecstasy.
Blessed are ye who see beauty in ugliness,
for you shall transform our vision of how the world might be.
Blessed are the bold and whimsical,
for their imagination shatters ancient boundaries of fear for us all.
Blessed are ye who are mocked for unbridled expression of love in all its forms,
because your kind of crazy is exactly that freedom for which the world is unconsciously begging.
Blessed are those who have endured breaking by life,
for they are the resplendent cracks through which the light shines.

"He used to say soulshine, It's better than sunshine, It's better than moonshine, Damn sure better than rain." The Allman Brothers

Many years ago an old friend nicknamed me the melancholy baby because I really have always embraced the darkness that can find us all.  My remedy has always been music, so on my youtube account and on Spotify you can find mixes with that title, which are comprised of what most people would call sad songs.  For me they are the quickest way to get in touch with my soul, and the best way to let my soul shine through.  A very good friend played a song for me recently that I had kind of let fade into the recesses of my mind because it has a lot of memories attached to it, but I was reminded of why I loved it in the first place and wanted to share it and its sentiment with you all today.
When you can't find the light,
That got you through the cloudy days,
When the stars ain't shinin' bright,
You feel like you've lost you're way,
When those candle lights of home,
Burn so very far away,
Well you got to let your soul shine,
Just like my daddy used to say.
He used to say soulshine,
It's better than sunshine,
It's better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Hey now people don't mind,
We all get this way sometime,
Got to let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.
I think too many people get caught up in finding something else outside of themselves to fix them.  Whether it be through medications, drugs, alcohol, meditation, yoga, working out, religion etc. people are always searching when in all reality they simply need to recharge themselves by letting their soul shine.  I am not saying that everything can be fixed that way, not in the slightest, but I am saying people need to pay more attention to themselves and be a bit selfish and turn their focus inward to their inner light and tend to it, just as a garden is tended.  Occasionally the weeds of inner thoughts and outward negativity creep through the cracks and find their way into the deepest parts of our soul, tangling it up, hiding it; requiring tender loving care to again let it breathe and grow and light you from within.

I woke feeling like my batteries needed recharged today, so music, and a little time on the beach at Baja Sands, the newest addition to the Baja Norte lands, and trust me you should take a stroll on over, it's a quaint retreat with a touch of vintage that took me back to the boardwalks of my youth.  I have to admit I was wandering around for a bit in this adorable little top and shorts from NoName that will be available on the 27th as the Aloha Fair opens!  The Raven top and shorts come with an amazing color HUD for both pieces and you will be amazed by the fit!  I didn't have to hide a thing with my Maitreya body which always makes me happy and ends up saving so much time when getting dressed!  As you all know, I am a die hard lover of IKON's eyes and rarely, if ever, change from them.  Today, this has changed with the fantastic group gift release for Virtual Diva.  The mesh eyes come with a 4 color choice HUD, but be prepared to move the eyes to fit your head, which if you have been wearing a mesh head for awhile, you will be used to this.  The eyes are a unisex group gift at the store right now so hurry on over, and let these eyes be the windows to your soul and let it shine!

A Modern Classic with Poudre, /heathenesuqe/ and CSR!

Last night, I got to live out one of my fantasies by seemingly to step back in time and I found myself in Marilyn Monroe's closet!!  Wandering around Hello Tuesday at CSR, I discovered this gorgeous dress for only 50 L!  I immediately gathered up all my boxes and bags and ran straight home to put together this post featuring some of my favorite people and places!

Poudre by Ambra Hoxley has a new skin release for you to go check out!  The Kerli skin comes in 6 different shades in cleavage and non-cleavage versions; Ivory, Pale, Medium, Tan, Sunkissed and Dark; and each one has 6 unique makeup styles!  I am wearing one of three brow options that are also included with each skin purchase.  The details on these skins are very well done and the makeup goes from Nude to quite dramatic, enabling you to keep the same skin, yet manage to have completely different looks.  The H Stroke Sheath from Poute at CSR's Hello Tuesday, is absolutely stunning.  The textures and highlights are very well done and it fit perfectly on my new shape from Poudre.  The vintage style of this dress keeps it in the front of my closet from now on, along with the Edge Heels from /heathenesque/

If you haven't been paying attention, that mad heathen Jamie Cross has expanded into Slink shoes recently and the results are outstanding!  The Edge heels come in a variety of colors and can be picked up at the flagship store!  The shoes are elegant and stylish, with a very classic feel to them, making them the perfect footwear to accompany this dress.  And of course, what retro look is complete without pearls?!  Lazuri's Classic Pearl set has become a standby for me since the metals and pearls can be changed, making the set incredibly versatile.  I quite enjoyed my adventure last night through New Orleans, with a stop for some relaxation at a little bistro.  Do yourself a favor, and indulge in a modern take on a classic look!

This simple, yet stunning dress is perfectly textured and lies beautifully.  I didn't have to make many adjustments to my shape which is always a plus!  So if you haven't gone and grabbed the Hoofies collection at Project Limited, you really should!
