A perfect spot to relax for a Bohemian like me! - Zen Creations, Six o'clock!, unKindness, junk, Scarlet Creative

As most of you know I recently cut down my number of sponsors because there are only so many hours in a day and with me still without internet at home, I just can't seem to keep up.  Without the pressure I felt a bit of freedom and actually had time to do a little shopping just for me, and to decorate my home, which has been standing empty since the first day of Spring.  I wouldn't have been decorating however, if I hadn't stumbled upon this amazing collection from Zen Creations that was at the last round of Cosmopolitan.

The Kaleidoscope Set comes in PG and Adult versions, all for one price, which I absolutely loved, because as anyone who has shopped for furniture knows, the Adult sets can quite often become quite pricey.  The set comes as one linked piece when you rez it, but then each piece can be moved to where you like it!  The entire design of this set is fantastic with the colors and patterns playing perfectly off of each other, making the penultimate Bohemian retreat!  The textures are exquisite and the wonderful attention to detail is reflected in the continuous flow between objects of the scene.  I love the pillows and candles that can be moved inside the cabinet, and the doors can also be closed so the accessories within can be used to accessorize your scene, so do your Bohemian heart some good and go grab this collection, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Oh, the places you'll go...

Tucked away in a box, I'm sure in the bottom, wrapped in a blanket, is an eighteen year old copy of Dr. Suess's Oh, the Places You'll Go that I purchased when I found out I was pregnant.  The inside cover reveals the hopes and worries of a soon to be mother to her child long before his birth.  I dug through a few boxes hoping I would stumble upon it in the mess, but no such luck.  I wanted to reflect upon the words of a much younger me, but I will just have to peer into the dark recesses of my memory to locate those memories.  My son is my miracle child, since I had suffered through several miscarriages and had told I would never be a Mom; but life always has a way of tossing thing at you that aren't expected.  So at twenty-five when I was suddenly confronted with being pregnant, single and just starting a career, I made the decision that being a Mom was my highest priority.  A few months into the pregnancy I was at my favorite book store starting a collection of my favorite books from my childhood when I saw Oh, the Places You'll Go, and my heart skipped a beat and I grabbed the last one off the shelf, stopped to pay, grabbed a tea and sat down to inscribe it while my thoughts were fresh in my mind after seeing his little face on the ultrasound earlier that morning.  When you have gotten your mind and heart used to something, like not being a parent, it is difficult to switch your brain automatically.  It's like a waking dream where the one thing you had always wanted but KNEW would never come true is your reality.

I became incredibly agoraphobic because I was so worried someone would do something stupid and put my child in jeopardy, and towards the end I rarely left the house and when I did it was to the Doctor's with one of my parents driving.  And when he was born, the world opened up again and the natural wanderlust I have had since I was a little girl kicked in and I spoke to my baby boy about the world, and showed him photos of all the places I had traveled and prayed that I had passed this trait on and that someday he would want to travel far from home to find himself.  Little did I know when he turned eighteen that I would suddenly develop this incredible need for him to not stray far from home!  If there is anyone to blame for the College and University brochures coming in from as far away as Boston, it's me, and part of me is very proud.  He has spent most of his life in a small town with visits to much larger cities, and my stories of faraway places have painted a world outside Flagstaff that I worry may be a bit tainted by the rose colored glasses that come with age.  I think I am as afraid today of him leaving home and traveling as I was the day I wrote my hopes and dreams for him on the inside cover of that book.  And though my voice trembles a bit and my eyes might get slightly teary I still tell him I can't wait to hear the tales he will tell from all the places he'll go.

“When the world is itself draped in the mantle of night, the mirror of the mind is like the sky in which thoughts twinkle like stars.” ― Khushwant Singh

From time to time, over the years, I have gone through bouts of insomnia, usually when under severe stress.  Which means I am not exactly surprised by the fact that I have been waking every night between midnight and 2 am and staying up for a couple of hours before being able to snuggle back up in bed.  Time seemed to have gone into fast forward the past month and the stress of finalizing the move, my soon to be landlord making things a bit difficult, health insurance being, and a sudden health crisis have me pacing the living room in the wee hours of the morning.  If you have ever suffered from insomnia, then you know your brain seems to be running in the highest gear possible causing you to ruminate over even the most mundane of topics.  I try to keep those demons at bay by reading, or playing pool on my phone, which has become a new addiction, or doing a bit of yoga, and often a combination of all of the above!  I realized very early this morning, as I stood on the porch watching a Red-tailed Hawk eye the birds flitting around for their breakfast in the newly mowed field that one thing I haven't managed to put on my new phone is MUSIC!  I am starting to go through a bit of withdrawal since I am used to having Spotify, Youtube, or the radio when at home, and the new house still has no net so two of those things are out of the question, as is a radio since I still haven't found where I packed mine!  Soothing techniques are important when you happen to be a late night, early morning, restless and anxious person; and I have an arsenal at my beckoned call, but sometimes your brain just doesn't want to sleep.  When I saw my Doctor the other day, I told her about the most recent spell of sleeplessness and she told me to wait about 10 minutes before getting out of bed, and if I am still restless to then get up and take a bath and relax and just let my brain do it's thing.  I was kind of amused, to be honest, because that is really the last thing you expect from a Physician, but then again, I picked her for that very reason.  So I guess, until the stress subsides, or my brain decides it's time for a full nights sleep, I will be tossing and turning all night!  (You had to know I was going to end up tying this up to a song, right?!)

As I have said in the past, I absolutely love blogging for the We Love to Blog group mainly because I get to see creations from new designers before most people know their names, and so I feel a bit like I get to introduce them to everyone!  Which, is a tad bit self centered, since there are plethora of amazing bloggers who are part of the group who showcase these Creators as well.  If you don't know anything about We Love To Blog, then make sure to click >HERE< and check it out!

I had never heard of I'piteme until recently when I started receiving boxes to blog, and I have to say I am truly impressed by the textures and wonderful attention to detail that goes along with every piece.  I have not taken off this jeans and tank combo in more days than I care to admit, but they are perfect for ME, and the ensemble has made it's way into my daily wear folder, which means if I saw it at an event, even though I had never heard of the designer, I would be buying it for myself!  The Whiskey Girl Tank and Jeans come in a wide variety of colors, and you can choose to have "Whiskey Girl" written across the chest or not, which when paired with the jeans, they are a must have addition to your closet, so head on over to the store and see for yourself all the fantastic creations of I'piteme!

Late nights, video calls, commitment and packages filled with the little I love yous.

For years now those close to me know that there has always been a certain someone I truly missed.  With every part of my soul I longed for our wrongs to be righted, for us to grow and find our way back to each other.  After about 4 years this dream began to fade from thought, and now, 5 and a half years later our friendship was for more important than trying to rekindle what once was.  I don't think either of us expected to find our way back to each other after all these years, it is the same but new, fresh yet familiar and for the last month and a half we have begun to discover who we have become since we parted in 2010.  Long distance relationships are never easy, don't let anyone ever tell you differently.  It is very rare to find that special person in your own time zone, if you happen to date online, which leads to late night calls and lost hours of sleep.  But we all make sacrifices when in love, specifically for love, and in long distance relationships these are the kinds you make.  The perks far outweigh the negatives though, because the world seems so much smaller when you can answer a Skype call and suddenly be face to face, with the ability to watch movies, eat together and share your lives.  I also happen to love the packages that arrive in the mail with the simple little I love yous.  A package arrived recently, and since I wasn't expecting anything, the first thing I did was check the return address.  Seeing it said from over the ocean I let out a little squeal of delight and headed inside to rip open my goodies.  Seeing his flannel shirt and finally getting to inhale his scent literally made my year and reminded me that it is often the little things that matter the most, and when you don't get to see each other very often, if not only once a year, the little things are very important!

The scene is set for a certain kind of something

I only have two and a half rooms in my house left to decorate and one of them happens to be the bathroom, which means when I saw this amazing new set from Zerkalo at the current round of FaMESHed I rushed right over and grabbed what I needed!  Between that stop, The Gacha Garden and Shiny Shabby I think I might finally be done with the house, other than the kitchen, which really only needs, a sink and maybe another cabinet.  People don't realize sometimes how long it can take to design or set up a scene, so for a little bit of a diversion during the interior design stage I headed up to my platform to check out some of my newest goodies from WE LOVE TO BLOG.  When I hit "apply" on the HUD from Lushish Catz for the 7 Deadly Sin - Vanity set the entire post came together and a mood came over me a bit.  Recently, that one person who can always make me shiver with only his words has dropped back into my life and he has me quite distracted, so I have set the scene and I doubt it will take him very long to figure out what that certain something is on my mind.

Skin
The mood is set,
So you already know what's next.
TV on blast,
Turn it down,
Turn it down.
Don't want it to clash,
When my body's screaming out now.
I know you hearin' it,
You got me moaning now.
I got a secret that I wanna show you, oh.
I got a secrets imma drop em to the floor, oh.

No teasing,
You waited long enough.
Go deep,
Imma throw it at ya,
Can you catch it?
Don't hold back,
You know I like it rough.
Know I'm feeling ya, huh.
Know you liking it, huh.

French Walnut Study from Park Place for RLF 2015 Christmas Expo

The days are slipping away quite quickly and before we know it Christmas will be upon us.  If you are like me decorating the house for the Holidays is a chore and sometimes it ends up being Christmas Eve before there is a tree up, and that's only if we are going to be staying in town.  If my son and I will be away, like this year, I can promise you that there will be no tree up in my home, or decorations.  I actually hate taking them down so much that I have been known to leave them up for far too long, and well, before I get called out by my friends, the tree was left up for 16 months, once upon a time.  This is how much I truly hate putting up and taking down decorations.  However, the hassle is far less on SL and I have been a decorating fool!!!  But who wouldn't be with all the goodies from current events on the grid?!  If you haven't heard, the 2015 Holiday Expo, A Frozen Christmas, a Relay for Life production opened yesterday with 4 sims to wander through and literally 100's of goodies to get your hands on, all for a wonderful cause!  Park Place has three releases for the event, with two of them featured below.

The French Walnut Study collection comes with the Bookcase with Accessories, Desk, Chair, Rug, Desk Lamp, set of two Table Books, and a set of Desk Reference Books and are only available as part of the Silent Auction for the event, so make sure to check out the website and the boards at the location to get all the information.  The fantastically over sized Wood and Linen Ottoman comes in two versions, one with couples and single poses and the other with just single poses, making it perfect for any abode.  The Ottomans are Park Place's exclusive design for the 2015 SL Holiday Expo with all or part of the proceeds going to benefit Relay for Life, so take the tele below and go pick up yours today, and make sure to check out all the other amazing offerings around the sims from some of your favorite designers!

"The home should be the treasure chest of living." Le Corbusier

"If I were asked to name the chief benefit of the house, I should say: the house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace."
Gaston Bachelard
Dreamer's Hideaway
For over a year and a half now, since my return to SL, I have felt very unsettled.  I was an untethered balloon being tossed about by the winds of change.  Though many a time I have had a place to call home, it was always shared and I felt like a squatter.  For a few months now I have had my own land and for most people, a home.  Something felt off...  The houses were always too big, and I only decorated one or two rooms; or they just didn't fit with "me."  I have set up and taken down three different homes now and I was beginning to think I would never feel at home on SL, which was breaking my heart.  Last week, the night before FaMESHed opened I wandered by Seraphim to check out the gallery and when I laid my eyes on the the new collection from Tromp Loeil a scene began to create itself in my mind and off I ran to the event to pick up the Tulia Greenhouse and it's accessories.  Between the greenhouse, unKindness's release of the Stiks Lights at FaMESHed, last month's round of Epiphany and the Gacha Garden, I realized my perfect attic eclectic style would come together nicely in this intimate space.  I greatly modified the greenhouse to accommodate all of my knickknacks, books and various pieces of furniture, and yes I love the cluttered look.  I don't need anything more than a small space to entertain friends in, or to just sit and relax.
“Home is a name, a word, it is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke, or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration.”  Charles Dickens
A Dreamer's Hideaway
"The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned." - Maya Angelou
Just in case you all missed the hype from the last round of The Gacha Garden, I am going to let you in on the secrets!  The Gacha Garden is a whole new experience where every machine has a Seed of Inspiration gift after 20 pulls!  Seriously ONLY twenty plays!!  Now I know many are skeptical and I know I was at first, thinking I would get 20 of the same simple item in the gacha and then the Seed of Inspiration.  This was not the case, and as you can tell I had a great time and picked up oodles of new items for my home and for my wardrobe.  I promise you will not be disappointed, so HURRY!!!!

Getting ready for a little Moon Magick

It has been 10 years now since I had to stop working due to illness but at this time of year I am reminded of the double life I used to lead, well at least it seemed that way.  I spent most of my days in a suit talking to Doctors, Lawyers, Police Officers, Judges and people with Serious Mental Illnesses who also happened to have substance abuse problems.  It was very stressful but it was what drove me and inspired me.  But when you deal with intense issues on a daily basis you have to find a release, and mine was found in my faith and spirituality.  I am a tad bit high-strung at my best and I tend to wear masks well, which means that no matter the situation that arose I kept my cool until I opened the door of my home and stepped inside my space.  As I kicked off my shoes I lit Sage, or an incense and often ended up standing near the smoke, breathing deeply I would let the day melt away.  As I put together this new ensemble from POSH PIXELS I was reminded of those nights as this is something I would have had hanging in my closet for work; combined with the gorgeous Moon Magnifiers from Pure Poison at this round of Collabor88 and the scene was set.  Well, I should really say mood, since this happens to be my bedroom so the scene was already set...just waiting now for the moon to rise.

The Peyton ensemble which consists of the dress and boots, and the matching jewelry set, Leaves of Change are currently only at the September round of Fashion Limited, which means there are only 250 copies available!  The event started on the 5th and ends on the 30th but with all the items being limited releases the sooner the better!  The texturing and detailing is fantastic and the entire outfit is perfect for the upcoming Autumn with its deep reds, golds and browns.  Do yourself a favor and head on over to the event today and get your hands on this beautiful ensemble, and if you too are looking to decorate your house in a way that better represents your spirituality then make sure to head to this round of Collabor88.  The theme is Muted Coven and you will find this wonderfully mystical table, accessories and rug from unKindness and the Moon Magnifiers from Pure Poison available for you to get your hands on at AMAZING prices, so what are you waiting for?!  HURRY!!!  I hope you enjoyed another little peek inside my world and don't mind me, I am off to relax for a little bit with a massage and then later tonight, trust me when I say, I will be having a conversation with the Moon.

Come see the world through my eyes

I have often been called an old school hippie, old soul or a mystic.  Throughout my whole life wild patterns, bright colors, and wildly eclectic design styles have drawn me in and held me captive.  I hate a stoic home or room, makes me wonder if the people who live in that space are just as bland.  Recently I have given everyone a peek into my comfort zone which has ended up in me taking a lot of pictures at home recently, which makes my life so much easier!  I thought I had things pretty much set up until I opened this amazing collection from [CIRCA] and KNEW I would be redecorating a bit, especially after my adventure over at the Gacha Garden!  The Gypsy MoonSea Collection is currently only available at Swank for 50% for the duration of the event, so HURRY before it heads to the store at full price!

The collection consists of dresser, ornate mirror, bonsai tree, candles, two floor rugs, 2 pillows and 2 chests, one with accessories and one without.  The detailing along the trunk and dresser are hand drawn and the attention to detail is truly amazing.  If you too are addicted to the shabby chic, or attic eclectic look, as I like to call it, then wait no longer and head on over to Swank, you won't be disappointed!

The juxtaposition of colour and light in the attic

Over the years I have come to call my decorating style "Attic Eclectic" which has always drawn me towards the designs of junk and Scarlet Creative for the outer shell of my skyboxes/homes but on the inside, you can usually find a wide variety of styles, colors, textures and designs with no particular rhyme or reason.  If you take some time and look at the big picture you will find two points repeated throughout every room or design; the first being a complimentary colour scheme and the second being the habitual repurposing of vintage pieces, or, well, almost vintage!  That reusing of materials is what really made the "Attic Eclectic" stick for me, because as far as I am concerned the best place to start looking for your items to redecorate is someone's attic!  When I traveled to France in my teens I learned what the word juxtapose meant and realized everywhere I looked modern designs were mixed with Louis XVIII extravagance; starkness from the Middle Ages to the dreaminess of Surrealists creating a wonderful juxtaposition that made my heart happy.  This theme has continued throughout my life, and of course into my second one as well.  I think I have redecorated this skybox from junk 100 times now in the last year and I am constantly switching it back and forth between my Carriage House from Scarlet Creative.  Last night, when I opened my goodies from Kaerri I was delighted to find a complete bedroom set that so totally encompassed my theme and I just HAD to show you all!  Let it be known, I risked complete and total computer collapse as I dared turning "Advanced Lighting" on, but in the end it WORKED!!!!!

"Juxtaposition
an act or instance of placing close together or side by side, especially for comparison or contrast."
Attic Eclectic
The Artemis Collection consists of the Bed, Dresser, Floor Mirror, Hydrangea Topiary, Hydrangea's in Vase, Lamp, Mirror, Ottoman, 2 Pictures, Rug, Side Table, Vanity Chair and Obelisk Deco, all accented in pure white and deep cobalt blue.  The simple colour palette allows this collection to be used in almost any home, and for me it fit wonderfully with my existing "attic" and decor accessories.  The "Paris" sign and standing Tall Lamp are also from junk but you will have to check the store to see if they are still available.  The delicate lights above the bed can also be picked up at Kaerri's in her latest complete wedding set, so HURRY on over, I promise you will find exactly what you never knew you were looking for to accent your hearth and home!

Bedroom Set - Kaerri - Artemis Collection NEW!!! NEW!!! Thank you!!!!!
Wall Sign - junk - former Arcade item
Tall Lamp - junk.

Set adrift on memory bliss

As I was putting these pictures together today, a song started dancing it's way through my brain.  At first it was just the melody, and then it came together and one line kept repeating itself over and over again.  I realized as I put the last touches on the photos that it was actually a perfect title and mood to go along with my post for the day.  I might be in a bit of a romantic mood today after having a delightful evening with a gentleman friend, and I thought I would share it with all of you.

Baby will you be there
When the mornin' comes
Just give me time
To fix my life, baby
Baby will you be there
When I open my eyes
After all the time I've spent
Wishing you
Baby you set me
Baby you set me
Set adrift on memory bliss of you
Baby you set me
Set adrift on memory bliss
PM Dawn

As you can tell, I had quite a bit of fun at The Arcade this round, and I have no complaints because I actually got everything I went there for without having to break the bank to do it.  Which, I know is probably a surprise for most of you out there who have ventured to the event this time.  I had been decorating this scene when I took a break and opened up my newest goodies from AnaMarkova Designs and suddenly it went from just a scene to an entire post with a very calm, casual, lazy, romantic, "days of Summer feel", at least for me.  The Chandra dress and shoes are new releases in the store but if you hurry, you can pick up this and one other along with the shoes at On9, and make sure to check the tags as there is a discounted item hiding amongst the pieces, which is true for all participants at On9.  I love the breezy, yet sensual styling of this dress and the bold color combinations are perfect for this Summer, so do yourself a favor and head by On9 and the store to check out the fabulous new releases.

The current round of Uber has my little boho heart all kinds of happy.  I know that isn't the theme, but the henna tattoos and India inspired designs speak to my inner soul and truly make me happy.  I just HAD to show you a few of the things I picked up this round since they complimented and accented this dress in the best possible way for me.

The Ishya hair from Truth is truly stunning with its long braid, and add-on bangs.  It also comes with a headpiece that sits exactly where it should in the part of the hair, but I chose to accent it with the jewelry collection from Maxi Gossamer, also available at this round of Uber.  The jewelry consists of a head piece, nose ring, earrings and a necklace that are all color change upon touch.  And to finish the look today I picked up this amazing tattoo from Reckless while I was at Uber.  The henna styling is wonderfully feminine and the tattoo is very well detailed offering you all the latest in appliers as well as Faded and Fresh looks, so head on over to Uber and pick up your favorites today.
