Life happens while you are making plans - Featuring Ashmoot

In the last twenty four hours our entire lives have changed as the youngest, who graduated in June, decided to leave home all of the sudden and move down to Phoenix. Most parents have a bit of notice and some time to get used to the idea of their children going to college or moving out and we are still reeling from the news while he has woken up in a new home this morning with the whole world before him. He has some health issues, so his father and I are biting our nails hoping he is mature enough to handle all the things he has to, and to take care of himself. Which I know is the worry of all parents, but when you add in needed medications, it becomes a greater stressor. But in the end this is his chance to prove something to himself, not just to us. So while we were making plans for the future of the family, life happened and now we have to regroup and see how things go before we continue with our plans. Though I am a bit fearful, at the same time I am SO excited for him! To be out in the world for the first time at 18 is a challenging and yet amazing time, especially when you are living with a friend and finding your way for the very first time. For Christmas this year the greatest gift we could get is a happy, healthy, well adjusted young man out on his own, living his dream!

For the first time I think in forever, the above part of my post has nothing to do with the photo, which just shows I write off the top of my head! This outfit has me feeling fierce, fabulous, and yes, a bit like revenge, though I'm not sure why! I have been looking for a reason to use this chair from SEUL for months now, and today was the day! Earlier this week I went for my mammogram and once again they scheduled the 3D mammogram for today, and discussions between the Radiologist and the surgeon have already started, which of course has me a little pensive. The Black Swan’s Song – Featuring Virtual Diva, Petit Chat, Truth, Uber, Swank, Dead Dollz, Project Se7en

Due to circumstances beyond my control with my health lately, I have been unable to post as much as I would have liked. As I sit here tonight with time on my hands for the first time in a bit I can't seem to come up with a witty story or anecdote. Two and a half years ago I had the scariest 29 days of my life, and it seems my body has decided to do a repeat performance of that moment in time. And though I am not as afraid as I was the first time possible Breast Cancer was mentioned, I am also finding it harder to stay positive. For the last year it has been one thing right after the other in regards to my health and I am just ready for this roller coaster to stop. So instead of trying to eek out something meaningless I am simply going to talk to you about how I fell in love with this Black Swan creature I put together, and I hope you do too!

Just in time for that most Hallowed of seasons, Virtual Diva has created this stunning Black Swan ensemble, complete with feathers, crown, skirt and appliers, as well as this GORGEOUS eye makeup applier for LeLutka! I was looking for an updo hairstyle when I stumbled across this new release from Truth currently available at Uber, which is where I went to pick up Dead Dollz Ballet outfit so I could grab the perfect toe shoes and tights, bringing the entire ensemble together. And after that I literally scampered off to FOXCITY because I remembered they had a set of sexy ballet poses recently, but I got lost and stumbled into a bunch of purchases, and I couldn't be happier! From the stunning backgrounds, to props, to amazingly detailed poses, everything is a MUST have for anyone who takes photos, so head there if you haven't become addicted yet! Since Fall seems to have skipped over northern Arizona, my mind has been drifting back home to the southern Midwest, where I fell in love with Autumn. Locked up tight! Featuring Petit Chat, Powder Pack and Truth

The last 24 hours have proven to be the most stressful we have had in months, but at least this time it wasn't all negative stress! Since yesterday morning we have found out I need to have heart surgery before Christmas, my son's ultrasound was inexplicably moved up to today, my other half got a job interview for today, and by the end of the day yesterday, he also had a job offer just outside Seattle, WA and we are currently in Arizona. Needless to say our heads are spinning and I'm not sure if we can tell up from down at the moment. A bit ago I wrote a post about chasing after your dreams, and now the kids are looking to us to see if we are going to follow them or watch an opportunity pass us by. We were really thinking about how he was going to move there while I stayed here with the kids, for the last one to graduate, which would have meant 9 months apart. Good news came on that front today, when they told him they would hold the job for 6 months, which has made both of us breathe a bit easier, but it sure hasn't relieved the stress associated with this decision. So if I seem a bit scattered I apologize, and I hope you can all bare with me during this interesting time in my life!

As usual I ran away to Second Life to try and zone out for a bit and let the world fall away and it worked! For just a little while I was able to concentrate on something else and I think my blood pressure has settled back down and my heart is beating normally instead of like a junior high Jazz band on the first day of school, well that was until I started this post! (LOL) But beautiful things have a habit of making me relax and this whole ensemble of new releases did just that, at least for a few minutes! I don't know if the rest of you parents are free yet, but school has started here in northern Arizona and I am finally free from one of the teens! Yay! But the one who graduated in June is still tagging along as I come into town, and we continue to have appointments with docs and people for the house, as well as that dreaded word J O B, for an 18 year old. For the past couple of weeks it feels like I have had very little time to recharge my batteries with all the running around for the boys and I for doctors and insurance, and trying to coordinate the work on our home, which is STILL in complete disarray. The four of us have been sharing a bathroom now since the beginning of June and we are all starting to get a bit tired of each other with all the waiting and bathroom schedule that should probably be hung on the fridge. When I have had any time at all, I have disappeared into blog posts and music as a bit of a "calgon" escape, but in all honesty it's just not enough. I am sure the boyfriend feels the same as all he has done is work from sun up til sun down recently with everything we have going on, and I know our minds keep returning to our vacation in June and wishing we could once again runaway for a few days. When everything gets hectic and you don't even seem to have time to do the simplest things, you sometimes just have to MAKE the time to relax and unwind, because if you don't, the stress can become overwhelming. So today I have had Corinne Bailey Ray playing through the speakers a bit loudly and I can feel the weight of my world finally starting to lift from my shoulders. Amidst the ruins of what used to be - Addams, Truth, Glam Affair, unKindness, The Epiphany, Izzie's

If you have traveled out west to Arizona then you know that the blending of cultures is sometimes almost seamless here with Spanish Missions falling to ruins on Native lands, and vice versa. History has shown missionaries and the like bringing their Christian beliefs to the indigenous people of the West, with many embracing the new religion while continuing to follow their own traditions, making this area very rich in blended cultures. I was excited to find The Epiphany up and running upon my return so I could do some shopping and do a little bit of catch up after being gone for three months. And I was absolutely blown away by some of the offerings available only at the event, including this absolutely gorgeous ensemble from Addams. With the release of unKindness's Pueblo Viejo for the event I jumped at the chance to pick up this outfit so I could put the Native Princess beside the Spanish Mission, creating a capture you can find duplicated throughout the history of art in the Southwest.

The Zara Collection by Addams comes with a necklace, bracelets, top and pants with several different color combinations as well as a RARE color, featured here on the top, at a reasonable pull price, meaning you won't break the bank trying to get your favorite ensemble put together. I love the fit on both pieces and the detailing and texturing is absolutely exquisite! Some songs, no matter how long ago it was since you last heard them, stay with you. Their words, their meaning, the melody lingers in the recesses of your mind until the chords once again dance upon the air and filter through the grey matter. For some reason today, one of those songs came playing through my head as I wandered along the beach at Baja Sands looking for the perfect spot to take my photo. If you haven't ever heard "Song to the Siren", by any of the artists who have covered it over the years, then take a moment and let this hauntingly beautiful melody impress itself upon your memory.

One of the things I have been working on with my photography is improving my closeups, since they always seem to look a bit off. The storms are starting to settle in again here in the mountains of Arizona, which seems to be the daily standard lately. And I think I am going to take a bit of time and relax for awhile, recharge my batteries and enjoy the melancholia that tends to set in at the end of the Summer. Unlike most parents who seem to be celebrating the return of kids to school, I am dreading it because I truly love spending time with the boys. Running around doing yard work, watching movies, discussing the world; these are all moments I cherish, and the days here in the office will be a bit quiet without them around. Classic styling with a modern twist from Amarelo Manga

As I have talked about in previous posts, if I could live in an era it would have been the 1920's but I have never talked about my second choice, which would have been the 50's to early 1960's at the height of the Chanel suit. Every year, for almost as long as I can remember now, I have spent the early days of March cultivating baby plants in the windows of my home. As the tiny seeds sprout above the soil, raising their heads to the sun, a promise is made for the coming of Spring and the bounty of Summer that will quickly follow. You don't take the time to toil in a garden unless you believe in tomorrow, because otherwise what would be the point? Every new arrival brings hope of what will follow; whether a plant, vegetable, fruit or tuber, each one holds a promise. Sometimes I think the promise is of course dinner on a distant Summer night with friends out under the stars, and other times I simply think it is a vow of more beautiful days to come. Which can warm the blood even in the darkest of cold March nights. This year, with neck surgery in April, I decided to not give life to any new plants this year since I know I will be away far too much and not quite as mobile for some time. This doesn't keep me from peeking in my neighbors yards or from checking the yard to see what has made it through a harsh mountain Winter, after all, the hope of a beautiful Summer lies napping just beyond our sight!

Feeling a bit chic this Easter weekend in Amarelo Manga

With all of the distractions as of late my neck, upcoming surgery, the start of a new but familiar relationship, I actually forgot about Easter being this weekend! Which for me is really strange, because my son and I still hid eggs last year, from each other, all over the house and yard.
