A perfect spot to relax for a Bohemian like me! - Zen Creations, Six o'clock!, unKindness, junk, Scarlet Creative

As most of you know I recently cut down my number of sponsors because there are only so many hours in a day and with me still without internet at home, I just can't seem to keep up.  Without the pressure I felt a bit of freedom and actually had time to do a little shopping just for me, and to decorate my home, which has been standing empty since the first day of Spring.  I wouldn't have been decorating however, if I hadn't stumbled upon this amazing collection from Zen Creations that was at the last round of Cosmopolitan.

The Kaleidoscope Set comes in PG and Adult versions, all for one price, which I absolutely loved, because as anyone who has shopped for furniture knows, the Adult sets can quite often become quite pricey.  The set comes as one linked piece when you rez it, but then each piece can be moved to where you like it!  The entire design of this set is fantastic with the colors and patterns playing perfectly off of each other, making the penultimate Bohemian retreat!  The textures are exquisite and the wonderful attention to detail is reflected in the continuous flow between objects of the scene.  I love the pillows and candles that can be moved inside the cabinet, and the doors can also be closed so the accessories within can be used to accessorize your scene, so do your Bohemian heart some good and go grab this collection, I promise you won't be disappointed!

The perfect place to unwind - Heart Homes

For the last year, as many of you know, I have been living without net at my new home, which means I have been having to commute to a friends to get any SL related work done.  For someone who doesn't work anymore, due to health issues, this has been hard to deal with since there are some days I just can't make it in to town to blog.  Along the way I have had to leave stores I loved as a blogger because I just couldn't live up to the expectations and requirements, and now, once again I am faced with the same decision, leaving stores so I don't let them down.  People have come to expect certain things from me as a blogger, and I no longer feel like I can do that for everyone, so I am cutting my sponsors down to a manageable number with realistic expectations for me at the moment.  Maybe some day in the near future I will be able to blog again from the comfort of my own home where I can rest if needed, or get up and clean things at home (which has SERIOUSLY been suffering) and work at the pace that keeps me healthy and productive.  I know some people may not understand how much of a big deal this is for me, but the idea that people are counting on me to help promote their creations is HUGE.  I hate letting people down, especially when it comes to business, as well as it isn't fair to the store or all the other bloggers out there looking for their chance to be seen, and I know how important that can be.  So I bid a fond farewell to those I can no longer blog for and send out a big universal thank you for letting me showcase your creations!

Since the stress lately has been overwhelming, I have found myself escaping to our tub for long stretches at a time.  The world just seems to slide away and I am reminded of the Calgon commercials from the 80's as I literally just get swept away by the gentle sounds of the water lulling me into a state of relaxation.  Lucky for me I don't just get to have that feeling at home, with this amazing new release from Heart Homes I can now slide into the tub in my virtual life and let the stress of the day wash right off of me.  So if you are looking for the perfect bathroom decoration or if you happen to be lacking a tub you can relax into in real life then head on over to Heart Homes and Aphrodite and get your hands on this incredibly well made antique claw foot tub, trust me, you will not be disappointed!

“When the world is itself draped in the mantle of night, the mirror of the mind is like the sky in which thoughts twinkle like stars.” ― Khushwant Singh

From time to time, over the years, I have gone through bouts of insomnia, usually when under severe stress.  Which means I am not exactly surprised by the fact that I have been waking every night between midnight and 2 am and staying up for a couple of hours before being able to snuggle back up in bed.  Time seemed to have gone into fast forward the past month and the stress of finalizing the move, my soon to be landlord making things a bit difficult, health insurance being, and a sudden health crisis have me pacing the living room in the wee hours of the morning.  If you have ever suffered from insomnia, then you know your brain seems to be running in the highest gear possible causing you to ruminate over even the most mundane of topics.  I try to keep those demons at bay by reading, or playing pool on my phone, which has become a new addiction, or doing a bit of yoga, and often a combination of all of the above!  I realized very early this morning, as I stood on the porch watching a Red-tailed Hawk eye the birds flitting around for their breakfast in the newly mowed field that one thing I haven't managed to put on my new phone is MUSIC!  I am starting to go through a bit of withdrawal since I am used to having Spotify, Youtube, or the radio when at home, and the new house still has no net so two of those things are out of the question, as is a radio since I still haven't found where I packed mine!  Soothing techniques are important when you happen to be a late night, early morning, restless and anxious person; and I have an arsenal at my beckoned call, but sometimes your brain just doesn't want to sleep.  When I saw my Doctor the other day, I told her about the most recent spell of sleeplessness and she told me to wait about 10 minutes before getting out of bed, and if I am still restless to then get up and take a bath and relax and just let my brain do it's thing.  I was kind of amused, to be honest, because that is really the last thing you expect from a Physician, but then again, I picked her for that very reason.  So I guess, until the stress subsides, or my brain decides it's time for a full nights sleep, I will be tossing and turning all night!  (You had to know I was going to end up tying this up to a song, right?!)

As I have said in the past, I absolutely love blogging for the We Love to Blog group mainly because I get to see creations from new designers before most people know their names, and so I feel a bit like I get to introduce them to everyone!  Which, is a tad bit self centered, since there are plethora of amazing bloggers who are part of the group who showcase these Creators as well.  If you don't know anything about We Love To Blog, then make sure to click >HERE< and check it out!

I had never heard of I'piteme until recently when I started receiving boxes to blog, and I have to say I am truly impressed by the textures and wonderful attention to detail that goes along with every piece.  I have not taken off this jeans and tank combo in more days than I care to admit, but they are perfect for ME, and the ensemble has made it's way into my daily wear folder, which means if I saw it at an event, even though I had never heard of the designer, I would be buying it for myself!  The Whiskey Girl Tank and Jeans come in a wide variety of colors, and you can choose to have "Whiskey Girl" written across the chest or not, which when paired with the jeans, they are a must have addition to your closet, so head on over to the store and see for yourself all the fantastic creations of I'piteme!

"What you had and what you lost. They're all memories in the wind. Those days go by, and we all start again." The Offspring

Not quite sure what has me reminiscing today, but I have been thinking about the years I spent traveling back and forth between Phoenix and Huntington Beach, California back in the mid-90's.  I met a lot of interesting people and had a lot of fun, though there was a lot of pain in my life.  After all these years I can look back fondly, instead of seeing only the painful things, and it's a lot like looking at old photographs; the memory remains but the raw emotions have now faded leaving only a dusty imprint on my soul.  For some people, this never seems to happen, and I wish there was a magic switch to flip to reveal to them the lessons they learned instead of them becoming a slave to the pain of the past.  But I guess that is part of what makes us all so very different from each other, and I wouldn't change that for the world.  Since I seem to communicate better through music than I do verbally, at time, I recently shared a song with my son that touched on this exact topic and decided to use it today for my post so I could share this sentiment with all of you.  Every moment of your life, no matter how hard it may be, is just a passing moment.  When things seem a bit too rough, and you have lost even a pinpoint of light at the end of the tunnel, remind yourself that this too shall pass, and that sun will rise again tomorrow bringing with it a whole new light and new perspective.  These days will go by just like those magical moments you wished would never end, but the photographs in your mind will always take you back, if you want to look.

If you read my earlier post today then you know I have fallen in love with this adorable new dress from POSH Pixels, currently available at Swank, unless they have closed up shop for the month, then check the main store, I have provided both links below.  The Hair Fair 2016 is in full swing which means you just have to head on over as soon as you can to pick up some fantastic new creations as well as donate to a good cause since a percentage of every sale goes to benefit Wigs for Kids.  I fell in love with this hair from ICONIC as soon as I set my eyes on it and well I haven't taken it off unless having to do a post!  It lies wonderfully over the breasts and along the back without breaking, which is always a plus in my book.  So head on over NOW, you won't be disappointed!

I am so excited to announce that unKindness is in this round of Shiny Shabby with fabulous new pillows and benches all in the classic boho styling which is the main influence for this round of the event!  The benches come in 3 different color combinations and the pillows come in Boho and Shabby, which I think work perfectly together in my little retreat at home.  The textures and color combinations are to die for and the more pillows the better, in my opinion, so hurry on over and grab yours today!  Peeking down from the ceiling is something I picked up at The Epiphany that I adore!  Foxes gacha has all kinds of goodies for your home as well as a Rare cottage in Dark as well as the special exclusive being the cottage in Light, with every piece in the gacha available in light and dark so you can furnish each one!  Poke me in-world if you are looking for any pieces of this, I will gladly negotiate, as I have a couple of the Rare Starlights pictured here, as I am sure they would make a great addition to your home today!

Every day is Valentine's in the right relationship

This post has been finished since Valentine's night but spotty net, my neck deciding to act up after spending too much time online on Valentine's and THEN someone broke Second Life when I finally was able to get around to trying to get links last night, so here it is Tuesday...  But, I have to say this fits my personal belief quite well, the right kind of relationship is like Valentine's Day every day!  For those of you who have been following my blog for a bit, you know I am a die hard romantic and I personally think the small things are like Valentine's every day.  Whether it is some cheesy gift from the local gas station that your special someone saw and was reminded of you; a fresh cut flower from the neighbors garden; or showing up with your favorite dessert as a surprise because you love late night snacks, these tiny gestures truly mean the world.  Every one of those moments means they are thinking about you, your likes, your wants, your needs, and isn't that what true love is really about?

When I showed this picture to the person I spent Valentine's with, they made a statement that made me laugh, and it's probably more true than not.  "Whatever plans we had for the night would have been cancelled after seeing you in that dress!"  I think if I had been wearing this in real life Sunday night, wine and chocolates would have had to sustain me for the evening and this dress would have ended up tossed on the ground!  Do yourself a favor and head by AnaMarkova Designs, join the group and grab this stunning dress from the gift selections,  you won't be disappointed!

The scene is set for a certain kind of something

I only have two and a half rooms in my house left to decorate and one of them happens to be the bathroom, which means when I saw this amazing new set from Zerkalo at the current round of FaMESHed I rushed right over and grabbed what I needed!  Between that stop, The Gacha Garden and Shiny Shabby I think I might finally be done with the house, other than the kitchen, which really only needs, a sink and maybe another cabinet.  People don't realize sometimes how long it can take to design or set up a scene, so for a little bit of a diversion during the interior design stage I headed up to my platform to check out some of my newest goodies from WE LOVE TO BLOG.  When I hit "apply" on the HUD from Lushish Catz for the 7 Deadly Sin - Vanity set the entire post came together and a mood came over me a bit.  Recently, that one person who can always make me shiver with only his words has dropped back into my life and he has me quite distracted, so I have set the scene and I doubt it will take him very long to figure out what that certain something is on my mind.

Skin
The mood is set,
So you already know what's next.
TV on blast,
Turn it down,
Turn it down.
Don't want it to clash,
When my body's screaming out now.
I know you hearin' it,
You got me moaning now.
I got a secret that I wanna show you, oh.
I got a secrets imma drop em to the floor, oh.

No teasing,
You waited long enough.
Go deep,
Imma throw it at ya,
Can you catch it?
Don't hold back,
You know I like it rough.
Know I'm feeling ya, huh.
Know you liking it, huh.

Life happens in a well loved room

The day I saw the preview for The Gacha Garden from *YS&YS* I knew once again that I would be grabbing everything I could from that machine, just like the last round.  So when I got my early access skipped over happily and began the rapid depletion of funds which always seems to happen when I am there!  Once again I ended up picking up all kinds of things for my home, but with a move to a bigger parcel soon, I will now have the room to decorate as I like.  I realized, as I picked up another set of what would be considered vintage or shabby chic, why I love these pieces.  They look well loved.  I grew up in a home where the furniture ended up becoming mine and that is what I love about every piece.  Life happened in rooms that were well loved.  The scratches and small tears in the leather chairs and sofa from moments from my youth; the stain on the wood table from where my Mom's coffee cup always sat; and the missing piece of glass in the china cabinet from a far too rambunctious night in my teens; all marks of a home where life happened in a well loved room.

“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” – Saint Augustine

I truly believe that every person dreams of traveling to far off places, no matter if they rest their heads on a quiet street in a tiny town no one has ever heard of, or on the busiest street in New York, Los Angeles, London, or Tokyo.  Just the idea of being somewhere new, where you gain a bit of anonymity intrigues me and even though I have traveled the world, it has been many years since I have headed off with no destination in mind, parenthood will do that to you after all.  But I still dream of places I haven't been, and of places that hold memories, and one day I hope to head out again with the sole purpose of getting lost.

A journey, after all, neither begins in the instant we set out, nor ends when we have reached our door step once again. It starts much earlier and is really never over, because the film of memory continues running on inside of us long after we have come to a physical standstill. Indeed, there exists something like a contagion of travel, and the disease is essentially incurable.
Ryszard Kapuściński, Travels with Herodotus

But don't get lost on the grid right now, not with all the fantastic events still running and the ones soon to begin.  I have spent some time at Shiny Shabby and The Epiphany over the last week which has ended up with me being happily broke, but they are well worth the trip!  If you are looking for some new pieces for your home then head on over to the events today and get your hands on some wonderful goodies!

"It is early morning within this room; without, dark and damp; without and within, stillness"

Have you ever noticed that it isn't just the humans in a home that will pick a favorite spot, or room; our pets have a habit of doing this as well.  I love tiptoeing through the house in the early morning hours to the rooms where the sun streams in through the windows and peek to see who has stolen in there to soak up the rays.  Seems the cats have laid claim to the sun room this morning, which explains why the dog is crashed out on the kitchen floor.  But as I take in the whole scene, I can see why, this has become quite a cozy space over the last week so I think I will take a break with the cats and have a cup of coffee while I read for awhile, come join me, there are plenty of seats to accommodate a few friends for a lazy, relaxing afternoon out of the cold and snow.

Winter Sunrise
Robert Laurence Binyon

It is early morning within this room; without,
Dark and damp; without and within, stillness
Waiting for day: not a sound but a listening air.

Yellow jasmine, delicate on stiff branches
Stands in a Tuscan pot to delight the eye
In spare December's patient nakedness.

Suddenly, softly, as if at a breath breathed
On the pale wall, a magical apparition,
The shadow of the jasmine, branch and blossom!

It was not there, it is there, in a perfect image;
And all is changed. It is like a memory lost
Returning without a reason into the mind;

As a memory stealing out of the mind's slumber,
A memory floating up from a dark water,
Can be more beautiful than the thing remembered...
...Let me not be so stunned that I cannot feel . . .
Imagination is but a little cup
It can hold but a minim part
Can a little cup contain an ocean?

My dreaming eyes return
The flower of winter remembers its own season
And the beautiful shadow upon the pale wall
Is imperceptibly moving with ancient earth
Around the sun that timeless measures sure and silent
.

Zerkalo continues their Wintery White theme with the new collection for The Epiphany and of course the pieces at FaMESHed which will be closing up very shortly, so do yourself a favor and go check them all out as soon as you can.  The Beauty in the Ordinary collection has several wonderful pieces in the gacha, including the RARE Lamp pictured here, as well as the Exclusive Jewelry Boxes available for 25 Epiphany points.  If you don't know what those are, then check out the website >HERE< and find out what makes The Epiphany so special and so incredibly different from all the other gacha events out there!  Birdy stole my heart with these adorable cats, also available at The Epiphany.  The cats come in a variety of poses and the RARE is a really neat tree with lights and perched cats.  I wasn't lucky enough to pick up a RARE, yet, but the ones pictured here are permanent decor additions to the house, but then again, this whole room is now locked and I dare say I won't be changing much anytime in the near future.  Come sit a spell and warm up in the glorious rays of the sun with the cats and I.

Thief in the night

I love when I am going through blogger boxes and I unpack something and a persona, or character is born.  Today, this complete ensemble from Masoom, suddenly turned me into a cat burglar and I was on the prowl.  Sneaking through windows, light on my feet, a thief in the night, slinking off into the inky blackness with precious jewels.  Like so many, I wondered how cat burglars don't get caught, but as I looked at myself in the darkness of my bedroom I actually laughed.  Who on earth would call the cops if they found someone who looked like that in their bedroom in the middle of the night?!  I might hesitate, ask for her fashion tips and my jewelry before watching her leave.

The Mahagony outfits is 100% original mesh work currently an exclusive for the Mesh Body Addicts event.  The bodysuit comes in Fitted Mesh, sizes for Maitreya, Slink as well as standard sizes meaning you will find a PURRFECT fit!  The complete ensemble includes Suit, Mask, Necklace and Gloves all available separately in 4 gorgeously rich colors.  Do yourself a favor and head by the event today and surprise someone in the middle of the night and see what their reaction is.  I have a feeling there won't be any police called either, but I can't say you won't be a little "tied" up.

Always Deer - A Tribute to the late Alan Rickman

I remember standing in line at Barnes and Noble in 1998 to pick up the first two Harry Potter books with a big pregnant belly.  I remember the first being a constant companion during a mostly bed-ridden pregnancy and I remember distinctly the feeling of falling in love with the characters.  When my son was born, I read to him nightly from the books and through the years they became a staple of our lives.  When my son's Father was killed, I know I buried myself in books and movies to escape my pain, and I know the movies were in constant rotation in the VCR.  My son identified with Harry, and the loss of his parents quite significantly and I believe there were times when the movies helped ease his grief as well.  As the years have gone by we both tend to do our movie marathons of the Harry Potter collection, curled up on my bed.  Waking yesterday to the news of Alan Rickman's passing, was a shock to both our systems and as I looked in his eyes I could see part of his childhood slip away, and that mature young man suddenly seemed like a little boy again.  Though he had many other roles in his career, the one of Professor Snape, had a profound influence on my son and I's lives.  Rest in peace Professor Snape, the world is still lit by the wands being raised in your honor.

The wonderful creative team at unKindness are also true Harry Potter fans and also were truly saddened to hear of Alan Rickman's passing; and in loving tribute this wonderful  "Always Deer" sign was created and is available for everyone to pick up at the main store.  The biggest lesson I learned from the series is that love never dies.  We carry a piece of our loved ones with us even when they have left this world, and that even in the darkest of hours, that love can save us, Always.

Writing love letters is a lost art

In case you hadn't figured it out by now, I am truly a romantic at heart.  I work and do most of my socializing online due to health issues, yet part of me longs for the days of true courtship in not just long distance relationships, but in all.  I like the idea of letters in the mail, flowers, inexpensive gifts that say, "I'm thinking about you," all the acts of courting a mate.  Many would say emails and texts of today carry much of the same appeal, but they have removed the anticipation, which is at the heart of romance for me.  The waiting with bated breath when you know they are going to phone; the skipping of the heart at the end of a date with the anticipation of a kiss; or as it used to be, the flutter in the pit of the stomach as you race down the drive to the mailbox, stopping a moment to take a deep breath before peering inside, hoping, praying for a new letter.  Thinking of all the couples who spent weeks, sometimes months, and dreadfully sometimes, years apart completely dedicated to one another, with that love maintained only by putting ink to paper and the promise of a future together warms my soul.  In the book Soulmates, by Thomas Moore, he discusses many things, but one of the topics is how to communicate with your soul.  The simple act of putting pen to paper is the best way to truly reach your soul and discover your deepest, most intimate thoughts.  This applies to letters, poems, and journals, for sometimes we need communication with just ourselves which we do when we journal.  Tapping into those emotions and thoughts, transferring them to paper and into physical form brings us closer to who we truly are behind all the masks we have learned to wear.  The writing of love letters is a lost art form that I believe people should practice again, and in the process maybe people will gain deeper insight into themselves and possibly learn a bit of patience and once again find their love of anticipation.

My head is swirling with all the events currently running on the grid, which means everyone is out shopping or trying to figure out what exactly they want from the events before they go so they aren't wandering around like a kid in the candy store who ends up broke halfway down the second aisle!  As usual I am hear to give you more reasons to go check out FaMESHed and The Seasons Story where you can pick up all of the fabulous items featured in this post.  If you happen to love the shabby chic look then you will be in heaven with all of the amazing items from unKindness at both events that inspired this post and this room.  Enjoy and have a wonderfully wicked res of your day, and remember to always stay true to your style and make the trends in home decor work for you!

Time for a little redecorating

As my readers know, I finally settled on a home awhile ago now and I haven't changed much since I moved in, just a few things here and there.  My attic eclectic look had kind of taken over which suited me just fine, until The Liaison Collaborative opened yesterday with their Bohemian theme.  Now my two sides are fighting with each other and in the end I called a truce picking up a few new pieces from Zerkalo at FaMESHed and a whole bunch of Bohemian items from The Liaison Collaborative, satisfying both sides of my personality.  Now the trick will be to make everything go together seamlessly in the house, but that after all is the appeal of haphazard styling!

DIGS brings the Malabar Set to The Liaison Collaborative with wonderful coordinating pieces and colors tailored to the more Bohemian side of life.  The Love Seat and Chair come in PG and Adult versions with the art work, rugs and wall hanging as accessory pieces.  You can purchase the items individually or as a set so be careful when clicking to make sure you are grabbing the right set.  I loved the living room sets from Clustered as well, but I had to make a choice, but I just HAD to have this adorable ladder with it's bright pattern, a perfect accent to the DIGS set.  Since I happened to be wearing a new release from NoName while out and about shopping I decided to share it with you all as well since it's just so damned cute!  The Bonita top comes in several solid colors as well as a couple of innuendo embossed tops that coordinate with the high-waist shorts, which offer more colors than the tops!  You can always count on NoName to bring you a fabulous HUD making every purchase incredibly versatile, which is always a plus in my book.  So when you head out to check TLC make sure to head by NoName as well to check out all the new releases!

The tree and I are decked out in shiny baubles for the Holidays!

I have gotten a bunch of trees this year to blog and though I have truly loved several of them, something was still missing for my personal home.  I spotted a post on flickr this morning and I checked out the blog and knew exactly where I was heading as soon as my son wanted to do something other than lay around and watch movies on a snow day.  When that happens, the computer is held hostage, but I will never complain about spending time with my teenager.  The Mix is a rather new event on the grid that is run via a HUD, so you aren't heading out to an event you actually get a chance to check out the mainstores of featured creators.  I went to the website and found out all the info, grabbed my free HUD from the Marketplace, logged on and checked it out, even though I only had one destination in mind today, [CIRCA].  For the event, they have two Christmas trees to choose from, Blue and Silver, and Red and Gold, for those of you who have seen my home, you would have expected me to grab the Blue and Silver, but tradition holds strong with Christmas for me, so the Red and Gold was MINE, as well as the packages to fill the space beneath.  Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed AND there is plenty of room for you to add extra ornaments, which I plan on doing tonight.  As I was decorating, a new package came in from Amarelo Manga and I was delighted to see a dress that went perfectly with my new decor.  The tree and I are both decked out in shiny baubles for the holidays!

The Indira gown from my Amarelo Manga is absolutely stunning with its banded design, wrapped just like a present, vintage scrolled print, and form fitting long design.  It is perfect for all of your holiday events, so make sure to head by the store and check out it and all the other new releases as well.

Today marks the opening of the Windlight Winter Art Show and Showcase!

Today marks the start of the first annual Windlight Winter Art Show and Showcase featuring some of the best graphic artists from Second Life and creations from some of the grids best designers all to benefit the American Diabetes Association.  I am very honored to have been picked to blog this amazing event and I am very proud to be a part of Team Diabetes!  A Winter Showcase will of course have all kinds of goodies for you to decorate your home, and Potomac brings you a stunning, lodge pole living room design perfect for any Winter cabin or retreat this time of year.

The Rustic Holiday Living Room Set comes with a love seat, chair, end table, coffee table, floor lamp, table lamp and a sofa in a Naughty and a Nice version all at a great price with part or all of the proceeds going to Team Diabetes.  If you are looking for an already decorated Christmas Tree in Gold and Red or in Purple then make sure to head by the House of Avro also at the event and check out their Christmas Trees.  I thought the Red and Gold matched this set perfectly and just had to show it off to everyone.  I can imagine a wooded grove, covered in snow outside the window of a log cabin with this collection, and I hope it fits perfectly in yours this Holiday season.  Most of the other goodies pictured here can be picked up at the Windlight Winter Art Show and Showcase so check the details to find all the pieces pictured above!
