Lady of the light gone mad with the night - Featuring Virtual Diva

So if any one was paying attention to my post at the end of last week, then you know I was looking forward to a week of getting organized for work and of doing a bit of catch up on my blogging. Well as we all know, as soon as you make plans, life happens. I have been putting on a bit of a brave face of late as I have had to ween myself off of my nerve medication, per physician instruction, since I have developed a life threatening allergy to it. If there was one medication I would tell people I couldn't live without, it would have been that one, so I have been getting to know that pain again and it has thrown me for a loop and kept me from being able to come into town to my computer. It has been years now since I have had to feel the fire of nerve pain through my body, but I am finding a new strength in looking for alternative treatments and empowering myself and once again calling pain my constant companion, my muse, but never my friend.

Remember to just breathe - Featuring IT!, DeeTaleZ, Juna Artistic Tattoo, and Arcane SpellcasterAK - Creations

If my friends and family were asked to write down quotes from me, I have a feeling every one of them would write, "just breathe," since it happens to be my mantra. For many years I performed on stage with terrible stage fright, that at times made me almost immobile, and someone I used to know said that to me once and I realized that in the pause that comes with taking a deep breath, the nerves calm and the brain works a tad bit better than it did before. With everything going on in my personal life at the moment, I keep reminding those around me to just breathe, more for me than for them I'm sure, but either way it works! Even though I am not missing anyone and my relationship is going fabulously, I still find myself drawn to a certain song by Melissa Etheridge, simply because it reminds me to breathe and that everything will be fine in the end. Lately I have been absolutely appalled at the body shaming and self hate that I have seen all over my Facebook page and other social media sites and I have become to question almost everything. My brain has been a whirling black cloud of chaos and confusion for a couple of weeks now, and I am finally beginning to see my way through. In the midst of all the chaos I continue to pace myself and remember to breathe, while continuing to stop and see the beauty that surrounds us, even in the most hectic moments. I have realized I do this a lot with my blogging, not just to try and relieve stress, but to help bring forth the art that resides inside me. This post has taken me several days to complete due to doctor appointments and then needing time to process what is happening with my RL and a much needed breakfast with my parents. Sitting them down and having to tell them I have developed a serious heart condition was not the highlight of my day and I honestly wish I could wake up and this would all be a dream, but I can't and now I have to learn to live a whole new way, again. I had a moment of weakness a couple of days ago and broke down, just tired of fighting with my health and cried until I had those stupid hiccup cries and in the end I felt cleansed. I love how tears can do that, and though I felt a sense of relief, a plan hasn't yet formed for how I learn to deal with this new change, but as my Dad reminded me today, the sun will still rise tomorrow and with it, a new day comes to shed light that can make you see things complete differently, or at least to see the beauty that lies even in the darkest, twisted depths of chaos that resides within my soul.

Have you ever had a friend misunderstand you so badly that it pretty much ends a friendship? While the strings that have held you together for years start to fall away, you sit, still stunned, because you never had any intention of hurting their feelings? I may be a weaver of words, but when things become emotional I become mute, especially when I have upset someone unintentionally. After a couple of months I have come to realize that not everyone, even those you thought were closest to you, will understand you all the time. We all get caught up in our own worlds and have a tendency to not step outside the box and do "others" thinking, as I call it. You have to identify the situation someone is in before you judge, and see it from the point of view of the person you have an issue with, but this rarely happens, and it's sad when assumptions become the rule not the exception. When all has been said and done and you are at peace with your side of things, all you can do is wait and see what the future holds and hope for the best because friendships are worth saving, not losing over a misunderstanding.

Thankfully SL decided to let me log on long enough to get you all the information for my post today, which means I got all excited and immediately switched windows excited to blog and suddenly found myself faced with another round of writer's block. It is starting to get a bit frustrating, especially when I don't get to blog that much anymore! So while I was waiting I happened to stumble into a discussion with my best friend about the word "crazy", and how it can often spur people to act a bit nuts just to spite those who think they have gone off their rocker! Bourbon in your eyes - Featuring IT! and Powder Pack - LeLutka!

The past week has run away from me and I seriously don't know how. Life has a tendency to speed by while we are waiting for something to happen. As promised, once I managed to get online again, I opened my delivery from Powder Pack and just had to show off a few things!

I couldn't believe how many designers have gotten involved with Powder Pack, and I was delighted to see so many appliers, including lips, eye shadows, freckles, eyebrows, and entire skins! I went through every item before I settled on my look for today, featuring *YS&YS*, #adored, and Izzie's. The skin from *YS&YS* is available in different tones and the HUD is amazing, giving you lots of options, including the brows. The skin is very well done with perfect shading on the neck, under arms and groin area, with great attention paid to the detailing on the face. If you are looking for shiny shadows and lips, then you will love the releases from Izzie's for the LeLutka pack. They come in tons of different colors and tones, making them incredibly versatile. You can totally change the look of a skin with makeup, which is always a good thing, considering how much appliers can be. I have never tried other lashes on my LeLutka head, other than the ones that come with it, so I was excited when I saw lashes from #adored, giving me yet another new look! The lashes come in different designs and fit perfectly on the head, even after lots of adjustments on my Bento head, so do yourself a favor and head over to Powder Pack and pick up the LeLutka addition, or reserve the next Catwa pack, I promise you will NOT be disappointed!

I absolutely adore the beaded necklace, by the way, with the multitude of options to design the perfect piece for whatever ensemble you happen to be wearing, and I truly believe everyone needs pieces like this in all their jewelry boxes!

One of the most important things I think I have learned in life is that if you compromise too much or settle for less than what you truly want you will end up needing more, if that makes sense. As most of you know, I have labeled this as the year of learning. So far, it has been full of all kinds of lessons and for the most part, I have been enjoying every minute of it. Most people don't know it, but I am a bit of a country girl at heart, which if you happen to follow me on Facebook, you would know that my new home and life have me out in the wide open spaces I love. I remember that this used to be my dream; the home on the land with lots of work to be done; animals around and kids chopping and throwing wood for the Winter. But for years, I made the decision to settle for less than I thought I wanted and definitely less than I deserved. In this year of growth I made the decision that I would rather be alone that to settle again. I was tired of just getting by and living life only half-way. I wanted spontaneity, a home, someone to grow old with who was tired of arguing and fighting and just wanted to be a team; to be able to see a future instead of a never ending dark tunnel, I wanted to be HAPPY! When I made that decision, I was quite surprised at how life rewarded me. Sometimes I find myself staring at my partner, often making him a bit uncomfortable, and I realize I memorize every line on his face, how his eyes light up, and how quickly I can make him smile because I am afraid I am going to wake up and this will have all been some long, anesthesia induced dream during neck surgery. He pinches the back of my arm lightly from time to time, and I am not sure who is making sure isn't dreaming at that moment, but it always helps us both. It's strange how that happens when you are faced with something that seems a bit too good to be true, but every once in a while, the Universe gets it right, and it is just what it seems to be, YOUR idea of perfect!

Some songs, no matter how long ago it was since you last heard them, stay with you. Their words, their meaning, the melody lingers in the recesses of your mind until the chords once again dance upon the air and filter through the grey matter. For some reason today, one of those songs came playing through my head as I wandered along the beach at Baja Sands looking for the perfect spot to take my photo. If you haven't ever heard "Song to the Siren", by any of the artists who have covered it over the years, then take a moment and let this hauntingly beautiful melody impress itself upon your memory.

One of the things I have been working on with my photography is improving my closeups, since they always seem to look a bit off. Today, I have to say I am quite pleased with this capture especially with how fantastic the new pieces from IT! look, and these amazing eyes from Lone Wolf Studio! I know most of you have probably been by The Epiphany at this point, but I have to once again rave about this hair from Truth! I was lucky enough to have picked up the RARE, and I just love everything about it! The fit over the breasts is perfect, especially when you are trying to cover up those pink parts, for whatever reason, mine happens to be to keep my blog PG but also because I just love the long, sexy line it makes when you are going topless. The bangs are an add-on, and they soften the look of the hair, which means they create two very different looks with one hair, so hurry up and get on over and play the gacha and see what you get!

The storms are starting to settle in again here in the mountains of Arizona, which seems to be the daily standard lately. And I think I am going to take a bit of time and relax for awhile, recharge my batteries and enjoy the melancholia that tends to set in at the end of the Summer. Unlike most parents who seem to be celebrating the return of kids to school, I am dreading it because I truly love spending time with the boys. Running around doing yard work, watching movies, discussing the world; these are all moments I cherish, and the days here in the office will be a bit quiet without them around. "So what you wanna know Calamity's child?"

I remember when I was younger my Mom often quoted lines from "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie to me and I can say I was a fan long before I really understood his genius. Before I left on my leave of absence for surgery I had wanted to do a post to honour the man who inspired me, and whose music kept me company often in the darkest of moments, but I never had the chance. Upon my return this past week I was excited to see the current round of InspirationSL dedicated to David Bowie, and immediately dug into my blogger box from IT! to see what goodies had been designed for the event! In true Bowie style, or should I say, with no particular style in mind, other than a bit of a longing for the 70's, I put a little scene and ensemble together to share with you all!

With my serious retro mood on, I was delighted to unpack this fantastic retro gaming set, only available for 2 more days at the first round of Geektopia from [CIRCA], which mixed and matched PERFECTLY with the Candy Retro Set from unKindness. A simple stroll on the beach

Hello everyone! A brand new round of ReVamped, a Models Giving Back Production, benefiting the National Breast Cancer Foundation, has begun bringing a new twist to the typical sales event on Second Life. Designers have taken a previous release and have “revamped” it, either turning something an old prim item to mesh, adding mesh body appliers, or a total remake of a previous release, bringing new and exciting items exclusively to ReVamped! For my first post this round I tossed on this adorable tank dress, with belt from KL Couture, that is absolutely perfect for this Spring and Summer on the beach or the garden. I love the color and the fit is fabulous, though make sure you take your body to about 50 on torso length to get the belt to fit right, if you happen to have a smaller waist like I do. Combined with one of Indulge Temptations new jewelry releases I was ready for a long stroll on the beach for some me time and to just relax for a while. Things have been crazy around here as I prepare to be away for an unknown period of time and I really haven't taken much time to just breathe and relax, so today was a pleasant surprise, when I found an excuse to get away for a bit. I think we all lose sight of that sometimes as we try and be everything to everyone in our lives, sometimes we just need to be there for ourselves and enjoy our own space. It is very good for the soul, and I can often be found referring to it as my recharging time. Do yourself a favor and recharge a bit this weekend and just breathe and relax, right before you head on over to the event that is!

Every year, for almost as long as I can remember now, I have spent the early days of March cultivating baby plants in the windows of my home. As the tiny seeds sprout above the soil, raising their heads to the sun, a promise is made for the coming of Spring and the bounty of Summer that will quickly follow. You don't take the time to toil in a garden unless you believe in tomorrow, because otherwise what would be the point? Every new arrival brings hope of what will follow; whether a plant, vegetable, fruit or tuber, each one holds a promise. Sometimes I think the promise is of course dinner on a distant Summer night with friends out under the stars, and other times I simply think it is a vow of more beautiful days to come. Which can warm the blood even in the darkest of cold March nights. This year, with neck surgery in April, I decided to not give life to any new plants this year since I know I will be away far too much and not quite as mobile for some time. This doesn't keep me from peeking in my neighbors yards or from checking the yard to see what has made it through a harsh mountain Winter, after all, the hope of a beautiful Summer lies napping just beyond our sight!

Feeling a bit like Spring

I must apologize for my absence over the last few days, but my Father fell ill on Friday and it was a very rough weekend. He had surgery on his heart yesterday and things are looking better, but needless to say I have been a tad bit distracted and unable to focus on getting dressed or writing. Today, as you can tell, I am still a bit off and could think of nothing else to write about other than the current stress! However, one of the things I have noticed over the past few days as I was out and about taking small walks to clear my head, Spring seems to be sneaking up on us in the high country of Arizona! Everywhere I looked there were swollen nodes on trees, the first green peeking up from the ground with the promise of flowers to come and the birds chattering away.
