She is whimsy in motion that Gamine girl - Style Personalities Part III

To say I am truly humbled by the responses to the first two installments of the Style Personality series, would be an understatement. Since I began my blog it has been my intention to not only showcase the fashion and home decor of Second Life but also to entertain and educate. In my early twenties I was a make-up artist for Prescriptives cosmetics where I gained a lot of knowledge about not just skin care, and make-up, but about color palettes, and how to put them together. Then I stumbled into an opportunity to become a Personal Shopper at Lord & Taylor where I got to learn tons about fashion, personal style, and how to dress for your body type. After a few years of learning anything and everything I could I decided to broaden my horizon further and go to beauty school to be an Aesthetician and combined my knowledge to start my own image consulting business. After the birth of my son my path in life led me far from the fashion and beauty industry, but it has always remained my first love. Ten years ago when circumstances in my life found me disabled and home, it was to fashion, color and design I ran to after discovering the world of blogging and Second Life.

Now that I have a forum where I can express myself, I feel it is actually my duty to share with people the knowledge I have garnered over the years, thus leading to the current discussion of Style Personalities. So far, we have delved into two of the five personalities and today, inspired by this adorable ensemble from B Barbie Style, I will reveal to you the world of the Gamine girl.

A Gamine is easy to spot because no matter the age she has a childlike innocence and appeal which is revealed in her mannerisms and of course, in her fashion. She is always youthful and neat in her appearance, never tugging or pulling at her clothes or worrying about how they fit. The Gamine girl is always on the go with a lightness in her step and though often more on the quiet side, her whimsical style keep her from every being too serious. She prefers straight lines that hug and enhance her figure without ever being too tight, or too revealing. Anything loud, bright, large, dramatic, bold or frilly will undoubtedly overwhelm the quiet, understated beauty of the Gamine. If there are any patterns in her closet they should be tiny polka dots and small, repeating, symmetrical textures that are enhanced with delicate details and large buttons with minimal jewelry.

Penumbra AW '16 Fashion Week - Style Personalities Part I

Fashion, for me, isn't just about the latest fad on the runway, but more about style. Many people search for the meaning of style, and in all reality, the definition is fluid and personal when examined beyond the stitching.

It often takes years for someone to find the fashions they feel confident in, and very rarely even know style personalities exist or that the things they feel the most amazing in are the clothing and accessories that fit their style personalities the best.

It doesn't seem to matter what source you look to on the net, since the original research and hard copies have become hard to find over the years, the experts all agree there are five basic style personalities; Classic, Dramatic, Natural, Gamine, and Romantic; with most people being a combination of at least two. Saturday kicked off Penumbra's AW '16 Fashion Week and I decided this would be a perfect time to talk about personal style, style personalities and where they fit into fashion, whether in real life or Second Life.

The first ensemble I opened from the amazing Trinity Yazimoto, the creative mind behind Petit Chat, fit perfectly into the Natural style personality, so I decided this was the starting point for the week! The Natural woman loves comfort and function over high fashion. Her wardrobe is filled with neutral pieces in natural fabrics and weaves with very few, if any prints. Her accessories are well matched with her ensemble and are never large or distracting. You often find this woman's jewelry box to be fairly empty as she doesn't need many pieces to coordinate with her outfits as simplicity and function outweigh the need to keep up with the latest fad or trend. The Rendez-Vous sweater with coordinating retro styled cigarette pants with modern cutouts from Petit Chat come in a wide variety of colors and are currently exclusively available at Penumbra's AW16 Fashion Week, which runs through the 30th. The soft cashmere sweater with delicate cuffs and detailing along the sweater's hem, sits perfectly above the hip hugging, straight legged, checked pants, giving just a flash of flesh as do the little ring cutout detailing along the sides of the pants, lending this ensemble a tiny bit of edge and sex appeal, which even the most Natural woman will admit is needed from time to time. Each piece comes with standard sizes, fitted mesh, Slink, and Maitreya sizes, which means it will fit almost any body out there! Every piece from Petit Chat is hand textured with an incredible attention to detail, as well as being materials enabled bringing each creation to life. The sun is setting on Rock Your Rack

Today marks the last day of Rock Your Rack which means you only have about 8 more hours to get over and grab some amazing items, at fantastic prices all for an amazing cause! This is the 4th Annual Rock Your Rack, presented by Models Giving Back, with a portion of all sales going to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. With tons of designers offering at least two items, as well as a 10L hunt, you are sure to find some things that just jump off the hangers and into your closet! For my final post I did something a bit different, but I got a bit behind this past week with the net being hit or miss, so to make sure I get attention to as many creators as I can, I am featuring two and their releases for the event!

This adorable Romper is exclusively available at the event from Chobani and comes in a variety of colors with matching vine accent heels. The fit is fantastic and I just LOVE these shoes! Toss on a long cardigan and this goes from warm sunny days, to the cool Autumn nights, making it a perfect addition to your closet! But I haven't found many things for the event that don't need to be in your closet, or that aren't incredibly versatile, and I don't know about you, but I love shopping for a cause, because there is no guilt later! Which means you need to check out all the items available until tonight, including this stunning new ensemble from WICKED, also an exclusive to Rock Your Rack.

The Peyton ensemble comes complete with jewelry, boots, jacket and dress, meaning you don't have to go digging through your inventory to find things to mix and match together when in a hurry, instead you can toss on this outfit and off you go to whatever your next adventure is on the grid. I absolutely adore these stiletto booties and how they compliment the outfit perfectly, considering that most times I HATE boots with skirts, but these happen to be a great accent and a MUST HAVE this Fall so HURRY to Rock Your Rack, you won't be disappointed, unless of course you let the night slip by without a stop by the event!

Breast cancer is one of the leading health crises for women. 1 in 8 women, and an every increasing percentage of men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival.

Models Giving Back is pleased to present Rock Your Rack, an annual fundraising event combining the best of SL Music and Fashion to support the work of breast cancer charities and raise awareness for early detection which is critical to a positive outcome for this devastating disease.

This year's 4th annual event will support the National Breast Cancer Foundation providing mammograms, education, support and early detection services to anyone in need.

The 2016 Event is all together on one sim and involves 63 designers including 9 Gold sponsors: AlaFolie, Athena Couture, Dulce Secrets, Emerald Couture, Empyrean Forge, LaVian & Co, phedora, Prism and Kultivate Magazine. Along with these designers, 14 DJ's, 11 Live Musicians, 22 2D/3D artists, and 22 models will participate in the two week long event.

Events during the fundraiser include 9 fashion shows, 11 live musical concerts, 12 DJ dance parties, a 10L Hunt, Two Silent Auction areas, an Art Exhibit organized by Kultivate magazine, Art Auction and 7Seas Fishing Tournaments. Designers will be providing exclusive creations with 100% of the sales of those items going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation along with a fine selection of the newest and most popular designs donating a percentage as well.

Models Giving Back is an agency of professional, certified SecondLife models who give of their time and talents to raise funds for legitimate and verified SL and RL charities.

Models Giving Back was founded in October of 2012 by Jamee Sandalwood after a previous agency dedicated to charity work was forced to close due to the owner leaving SecondLife. The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34. After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. The last couple of days have had me cursing the internet and twiddling my thumbs with constant little blue spinny circles on my screen, meaning I didn't quite get done what I needed to yesterday since it literally took me 6 hours to take a photo! I did manage to finish the art work and get all my links together before time ran out and I had to scamper off for the night with the family, which meant I got to talk to my significant other about the song I happened to want to use for my post, which has absolutely nothing to do with us. I love the song, and it fits quite well with my newest ensemble brought to you from Zanze, currently exclusively available at the 4th Annual Rock Your Rack event. Sometimes you just need to sparkle

I am a firm believer in taking the time to dress up and go out on the town every now and then because I truly believe that everyone should take the time to sparkle every now and then. Lately, with all the work on the house and moving we haven't had a lot of time for ourselves, let alone a chance to don our finest threads and step out for the night. So when I opened up the blogger box from Ghostyss for Rock Your Rack, I was all kinds of excited to get to at least dress up online for a little bit, and sparkle. Wild Sophisticate

From the moment I saw the previews for this round of Collabor88, I knew I was in trouble. The Safari theme has brought a lot of creativity to this round from all the designers and I found myself having to pick and choose between a few things, because I couldn't afford to let myself run rampant! This bohemian panther stocked her closet and even put a few things aside to go back for before they close up shop this month!

Let's start off with this adorable hair from Clawtooth! The Adventure Girl hair comes in the standard Clawtooth colors, which of course I just had to have in the reds, plus this great hat! The hat is color changeable upon touch, and provides a variety of colors from which to choose. I chose the Terracotta, because it fit so well with this dress and shoes. The dress by katat0nik, is very well made and textured. My only issue is, I am not a fan of the "average", "thin", "curvy" and "divine" mesh clothes. The adjustments I had to make, for my jubblies to fit in this dress were drastic, and much more than I would do normally. But, with how adorable it is, I just HAD to squeeze them in the average, as the "curvy" was WAY too big. So bare this in mind when heading over and grabbing one for yourself. I loved the Giraffe print, but there are several colors and patterns to choose from. Zenith, has once again blown me away, and not with accessories this time, with SHOES! I have not found a better styled, detailed or textured wedge/platform for the Slink High feet. They fit perfectly and all the colors in the beads make them very versatile; as does the variety of colors. And no outfit is complete without the perfect accessories! Maxi Gossamer has a large collection at Collabor88, but I could not live without the Vallari Collar. The stacked rings fit well and it can be sized to fit your neck easily, if it doesn't already sit perfectly when you first put it on yourself. The collection however, has lots of pieces, so make sure and grab your favorites! Go wild at Collabor88 this round, you won't be disappointed! After all, we all need to let our inner beasts roam free from time to time!
